"I was so impressed with this restaurant! The food was incredibly delicious and came out quickly. The overall experience was smooth and rated a 10/10. We started with Trash Browns and VGN Wachos, both of which arrived shortly after our drinks. The Trash Browns, in particular, were amazing with their liquid cheese topping. The Candy Floss Cocktail was a unique treat with layers of flavor. The burgers were also fantastic, but we were too full after the starters to finish them. The hand-cut chips were a nice touch, seasoned with Cajun spices. The menu had a dedicated vegan section, and most items could be made vegan if desired. The staff were busy but managed to accommodate everyone as best as they could. Despite the hustle, they seemed content and attentive. The restaurant had a cozy underground vibe with good lighting and exposed brick walls. We sat by an old fireplace, which added to the ambiance. The waiters were efficient and helpful, even providing takeaway boxes upon request. There were multiple stairs, so it may not be wheelchair-friendly, but there could be another entrance. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I look forward to returning."

"On our last visit to the Ashmolean we found that the basement café was under refurbishment and a member of the staff said that the restaurant was serving coffee and cakes . The only cake available at the time was scone. It turned out that they only had cheese scone and these came with jam and cream!!! We said this was odd so gave back the jam and cream and asked for more butter. The waitress was surprised, she obviously had an odd palate. So we had this and was drinking our coffee when a waiter came along and took our plates immediately we had each finished our scone and then the cup almost before we had drunk the last drop. Obviously hustling us to leave. He was then surprised when I refused to pay the service charge!! As a regular to the Ashmolean I suggest that some serious staff training should be carried out."

"They have had great vegan burgers for quite some time, but they also have good vegan sides now. We love the vegan dirty fries with vegan cheese sauce and vegan bacon. I love that the vegan options are just as inventive and indulgent as the non-vegan options and they are about the same price too. A great place to eat with non-vegans, would recommend going when very hungry though as it is extremely filling. Definitely not for those who don't like greasy/deep fried food though as pretty much everything seems to be deep fried."

"This restaurant is the perfect spot for delicious seafood at a reasonable price, with a welcoming local atmosphere. I have visited a few times with my girlfriend and we are always pleased with our experience. The service is laid-back and the chefs are talented. "The star is for the location. The service was laughably dreadful. Our party of five adults two children popped in for afternoon tea a simple order of four pots of tea, one cup of coffee two of hot chocolate. We found our own table after being ignored by the alleged ‘waiting’ staff and fetched menus as these weren’t offered. A disinterested waitress eventually took our order, volunteering no useful information, such as the types of tea available. Later, pots of tea and other drinks were brought to the table via 6 trips to from the bar. Random cups and saucers followed in dribs drabs. We had to ask for milk a tiny jug of full cream between 4 unsuitable for tea), tea spoons three were chucked unceremoniously on the table), sugar all of which were brought separately to the table. We gave up trying to attract attention for the bill and had pursue a waitress around the room to request same. Service was included in the bill. We asked that it be deducted. It was. This restaurant really lets down an otherwise excellent museum. Shambolic."

"Anniversary meal. Although initially warmly welcomed by the chap at the desk and we were given 2 glasses of fuzz. (Thank you) The service that followed was sullen and unfriendly. There was no ‘check back’ was our food ok? My husbands toasted sandwich was cold. He wasn’t going to say anything as it was our anniversary meal but I could tell he wasn’t enjoying it. We did manage to speak to a waiter who said he wasn’t sure if it shoujd be warm or cold. He took plate with sandwich away and returned with it on a smaller plate not much warmer and again no checking if we were happy? We ate our food. Did notice people were sitting down then getting up and leaving. Again managed to gain someone’s attention to get the bill. Bill placed on our table in silence. Again no how was your meal? Or just general chat ‘happy anniversary’ any nice plans for the day? noticed 10 percent already added on for service so no extra tip from us. I work in hospitality and customer service and was so looking forward to my visit. We are local and were checking out for potential return visits in the Summer. Although, the food is not extravagantly expensive in these hard economic times, friendly, attentive service would have really made the ‘experience’ enjoyable and repeatable. Also allowed to leave with out a ‘good bye’ . Saddened as so looking forward to visit."

"The service was awful. There were no vegan options available for breakfast. My husband's breakfast was served stone cold, and my friend was only given 3/4 of a cold waffle. Considering the high prices, the overall dining experience was extremely disappointing."

"Had previous bad experience here but due to all other bar/restaurant options being booked out due to time of year Christmas market etc, gave it second chance as was young daughters birthday and she wanted a treat for lunch. Girl greeting customers was friendly and helpful, but from there the experience was a disgrace. Once seated, order was taken and after 10 mins was informed there were no more wraps available, so child had to reorder which we did. Then, few mins later the adults food arrives a pizza which was thinner than the menu itself and of very poor quality for the price paid. I noted all pizzas being delivered to tables were exactly the same thickness and quality and can't help think they are pre frozen and simply heated up. Would explain the quality of the food. The amended child order arrived about 25 mins later, when the adults had already finished their meal. By this stage she had grown tired of waiting and the food was of awful quality. Needless to say she barely are it and we just wanted to leave. No staff apologised for the delay, fact it wasnt put as urgent bearing in mind the original delay due to running out of ingredients etc. Throughout the experience of around an hour and 15 the staff were running around in chaos, even arguing amongst themsevles and the ordering system in full view along with kitchen showed just how disorganised they actually are. I asked for the bill for girl to say she'd bring it to my table. She passed the table at least 15 20 times delivering food, taking new orders and as befitting of this place having sat and given her ample chance to get back to me had to ask her AGAIN 15 mins later can I have the bill asap, and as per her reaction, she'd actually forgotten to go and get it leaving me sat unattended. I can accept a restaurant being busy but more importantly the quality of the food here is of absolutely horrible standard on both visits, appearing to be pre packed or frozen and reheated only. The service isnt far behind and needless to say, its last time i'll ever set foot in this or any other Frankie Benny's. You've been warned!"
