"I have been to this restaurant multiple times in the past three weeks. I can't help but keep coming back because they have delicious cocktails, an incredible happy hour, and tasty food."

"We've waited three years to manage to get a table in here as it is quite small and only offers walk-ins and is usually full. The Steak and Ale pie did not disappoint at £14.95, a half a pie slice with real cooked chips and peas. Beer battered onion rings were also light and lovely. The staff were fantastic, two lovely friendly young girls who served us, a credit to the pub. Cask ale selection is also decent in here, the rest of the lager selection is fairly standard such as Madri and Morreti, could benefit from a craft style IPA on tap. They only serve food at lunch which is a shame as we would happily dine here in an evening. Certainly one of the more affordable pubs in town these days for food and drink."

"This is one of the hidden gems in Torquay! I's rare to find a well run family business but this one exceeded our expectations on a number of fronts. Firstly the young daughter greeted us with a warm friendly smile and we were seated promptly. The father was also very polite and welcoming and brought us out some delicious complimentary Pholourie Verna’s popular Apple Garlic Trini dumplings. The food was amazing and fresh and came out promptly. We had the Chicken curry Rotti, coconut rice and peas, salad, Potato and Chick pea Rotti and Fried Plantain. All of which were to die for! My only gripe is that I cannot manage dessert (my own fault)! Although we didn't get to meet Verna we have to say her cooking was magnificent and you can tell from the presentation and taste of the food that she is passionate about cooking her customers high quality and great tasting food! I would also like to add that all the staff there were very welcoming with our young 5 month old baby girl, who occasionally screamed with glee. And last but not least, the restaurant also offers a lovely view of the harbour. Too bad they are planning on retiring soon, so get there before they do!"

"One of the nicest pubs I have been to. We are two families, with a kid each year old boys) and we walked from Bodiam, where we are camping, to Salehurst, having been told the Halt was a good pub to visit. It certainly...is. Lovely, welcoming and attentive and chatty staff, a lovely beer garden, very nice local ales, a good selection of lager and very nice food. The kids played table tennis most of the time and then when they eat their plaice and chips, not a thing was left on their plated. The pub does not have a specific kids menu, but will make a kids version of every menu choice there is. The staff were very accomodating in this respect and also were as happy to chat to the kids as they were to the adults. We all left for the long walk back to Bodiam declaring it was our New Favourite Pub. Thank you The Salehurst Halt, for giving us a lovely couple of hours of pubbage' :"

"Mediocre service. I must say that the starters at Bamboula were very good (particularly the plantain ring). The main meal on the other hand was mediocre as was the service. Unfortunately, I do not think I will go again. The restaurant closes at 11 and at around 10 to 11 they were already cleaning up and assembling the tables, none of the people in my party felt comfortable, they were basically kicking us out. In fact, at around 11:02 the manager came to tell us that they were closed (she effectively shouted this at us). In addition, the restaurant was understaffed with only one waitress who had clearly had a bad day, not only was she rude, she also served us the mains with no cutlery and...read more"

"Popped in for a quick family lunch. Amazing food, lovely busy cafe but the reason I have given a negative star rating is the one particular staff member the lady who greeted us, had a very rude attitude not sure if it was towards us in particular or if she had a bad day. I gave her the benefit of the doubt until we had asked for the bill and she flung the bill at our table, leaving us all very startled! So, I’m not very sure if I will be going back again as it’s left a bad taste."

"Avoid this place at all costs unless you are just calling in for a drink! We passed by here once stopping for a drink and saw that the pub served food it all looked a very homely style pub so we thought we would bring our family here for a meal one Sunday. What a mistake!!! We waited ages for a table which we had booked in advance, waited ages for our orders to be taken, waited ages for the meal to turn up which turned up without any veg which we had to wait a further five minutes for after the rest of our dinner had been delivered to our table. We had to laugh when they finally got round to asking us if we fancied dessert NO THANKS!"

"I was taken out in the evening to the King's Head in Old Town for my birthday. I previously had lunch there out the front in the bar for lovely fish and chips, and the fish came in a frying basket, which was a nice touch. For the meal in the evening this time the pan fried chicken in mustard sauce was the best meal I had for ages. We had the three course meal. I started with French onion soup which was also delicious. When we walked in there was Euro championship football on most screens in the modern looking bar, so I thought we would have to listen to that for the evening meal, but they took us to the more quiet room out the back which was nice. I didn't really understand how the menu worked as it said a set price for three courses if you choose from one side, then other side of menu had another price, but waitress didn't mind explaining it again. Portions were generous. I still think back to the meal now. I would say it was an ideal mix of comfort home cooking, but made by excellent chefs."

"Blocked because we made 2 complaints in 2 years. First complaint was because our food wasn’t even delivered. 2nd time they left our food on the doorstep without ringing the bell, so by the time we found it, it had slugs on it. This is how they treat customers who have ordered weekly spending over £30 a time for over 2 years ! Shocking!!! Service: Delivery"

"I hadn't been to Anupam in many years, recalling it as a great Indian restaurant. When I returned to Malvern, I decided to dine there with a friend. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. The waiter's behavior was odd and nearly rude. His comment about Jalfrezi being "what you people eat," followed by a dismissive remark that it wasn't suited for Indians, was off-putting. I chose to have a Madras instead, but the entire meal left much to be desired. The Madras was more like a watery soup with only four pieces of chicken. It was, without a doubt, the worst curry I’ve ever tasted—bland, lacking spices and heat, and reminiscent of eating flavorless soup. I’ve decided not to return."

"We had a lovely meal in the restaurant as we try to avoid more crowded areas due to Covid concerns, albeit the bar had several diners, which suggested it was a good choice of place to eat. We found the restaurant delightful both thoroughly...enjoyed our meal. I had mussels in a cider cream sauce served with chips bread. Having had mussels umpteen times, this time it was a surprise! As they all were “stood up to ‘attention’ consequently looked very unusual but most attractive.” The bonus being therefore that there wasn’t a single empty shell, nor any “dodgy unopened ones,” either. The meal was terrific, albeit the attempt at the bread accompaniment was not so good, to be frank. Some decent proper french bread would have been a better thing to serve with the meal. Nonetheless I’d recommend it, as it was still fab. My wife rather gobsmacked me as she chose something I’d never expect her to choose the most massive Burger chips! Again she found it a great choice, albeit defeated in the end by the shear size of the burger! If/when we ever head back that way, we’ll certainly frequent The Globe again! Btw, they serve good beers as well!"

"We have always enjoyed the food here. And the decor has always been welcoming. However, we were disappointed at our latest visit. It seems dark and uninviting, more a place for drinkers that to sit and have a pleasant meal. The fact that there are fewer tables, and more standing room says it most. We were met by the overpowering smell of last night's beer, and a distinct lack of service. We Sat and waited, while a young lady wandered by a couple of times, then disappeared. I went to the bar, and stood, while the lone barman sauntered past and outside to collect glasses I knew this by the fact that he returned with several, some couple of minutes later). I ordered our food and drink and waited...and waited. It was not worth the wait. I will be giving here a miss for a while. Probably a great place for a drink, but they obviously feel no need to temp people in for food."

"Went for a take away last night here, I was greeted by a man with a baseball cap and in normal clothes? Considering this is a restaurant he didn't look very professional and neither was his attitude!! I found him extremely rude and not welcoming what so ever. The main reason why I visited here was I fancied something a little different only to find the curry I had was extremely bland with taste very little flavour I was bitterly disappointed. So not only was the welcome poor so was the food safe to say I won't be returning here. This is my opinion it maybe for some but definitely not for me."

"Quite a friendly welcome, pleasant garden overlooking the Atlantic, pretty flowers and shrubs. A pub dog called Pablo (I think) who wanders around quite happily! But the top, top thing here is the food. We came in for a drink and ended up eating lunch in the garden: excellent game pie, really good filling, a mound of chips and vegetables. Kashmiri lamb curry with a lot of rice, a couple of pieces of naan And a selection of three sauces. Absolutely stuffed, we need to go and have a lie down! This is not the first time we’ve eaten here, we will definitely come again"

"Went to island takeaway for my first time, there isn’t a lot of Caribbean shops in Brighton so I had high hopes. The store gave off authentic Jamaican vibes, however that was the only thing authentic about this shop. I originally tried to order a oxtail and was told they didn’t have any (no real surprise tbh). Then I asked what do you have and was told “you tell me what you want and I’ll let you know” which was just not helpful as they didn’t have what I wanted. The only ended up having 5/9 mains available. I got the large curry goat and rice peas for £15 which isn’t a horrendous price if the large was actually large but it wasn’t. When I tried to foot the rice was over cooked with the peas being cooked to the point they were dry and the rice was very hard. The curry goat was pink which definitely threw me off. Plus the meat was cleaned properly as there was a lot of gore and guts in the bones which completely ruined it. However, the flavour of the food was good but I would certainly of skipped out on this meal if I had the choice."

"A little hide away that has a lovely outside are, paved over with plenty of seating and a play area for kids. There is also a coveted outside area with 4 or 5 tables. There is a decent sized free car park. The pub itself is an old style building with low ceilings giving it a cosy feel. They offer food which is pretty standard pub fayre but what I saw come out looked good and portion sizes were good too. Outside is dog friendly which is great as the pub is situated on the North Downs Way so there are dog walkers as well as cyclists too. They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays"

"Had a special family celebration for our mothers 90th birthday today at the pilgrim hotel . Outstanding views of the Herefordshire countryside . While the staff seemed to try their best , we couldn’t locate the staff when we needed something . Our food arrived not enough sandwiches for our party of 12 with small appetites . And we had to ask for tea coffee which arrived after the food . The quality and standard of the selection of cakes were poor . And the room was lacking in atmosphere for a special ladies birthday . We felt quite disappointed for her and the family that had traveled from afar . Doesn’t take much to create an atmosphere and good quality food . We asked for extra sandwiches which was met with confusion from the staff member as to why we would need them . It is sad as we felt dissaponted that we should have had to write this review ."
