"On Sunday evening I rang up and ordered a takeout. A Doner kebab on a naan, 2x poppadums with the pickle tray drips and a portion of onion bahjis. Online there are no prices aside from the new fast food. So the Doner Kebab was £6.95 on its own. I asked how much the takeout would be in total and it was £14 so I was prepared for the price. When I went to collect, I paid the £14 and once I had left, I realised there were no onion bahjis so went straight back in. Apparently whoever had taken my order hadn’t heard me ask for the bahjis, which I fully understand these kind of things happen. So I queried the price £14 for the £6.95 kebab and the 2 poppadums and pickle tray sauces this would have made it £7.05 which didn’t seem right. The chap serving me asked another chap how he had come to the amount of. He quickly did a calculation on his calculator which came to £13.85! I honestly think they just charge whatever they want. Which is such a shame. There needs to be correct prices on the menu and yes inflation and price increases happen. But yearly not just when they feel like it! Such a shame as I often eat in at saffron with friends regularly. Not great getting ripped off for a takeout! The food is delicious, but the pricing seems to be an issue and really needs sorting. Especially for the winter period when they will be relying on local trade."

The food was very nice and authentic. But we were shocked at the price. Way way over priced and portions very small. Bit tatty inside. Such a shame.

Went to this restaurant as it offers a good selection of vegetarian dishes. Waited 50minutes for our food to arrive. It was an acceptable meal but not special. Rather expensive compared to the food we normally eat at our local restaurant. Disappointed.

We had a really great curry here. Order taken swiftly with friendly service. One curry was adapted to our taste and arrived promptly piping hot. It was great to be able to have our little dog with us, never before in a curry house. Thank you for a lovely meal .

Called ahead for a table at 9.30pm Friday, arrived and told to go upstairs, first the carpet is filthy, not the best start. Only 2 people in restaurant (9.30pm Friday) We were seated for 10 minute before we were asked for any drinks, we asked for a beer and a small soda. We were told cash is good for a discount!. A futher 10 more minutes later the waiter gave us the menu, prices were not easy to understand, the prices are not displayed. I asked twice to explain the price system, waiter was rude probably because I ask him to explain the system. A simple veg stater, chicken madras and rice. £27 each! Pickle tray was £5! We decided it was not for us, understand why they give you drinks before t...

"We arrived frazzled because we drove around the grounds in the dark not knowing where to go. The signage inside the grounds is no help at all. Allow time for this if you haven't been before. Fortunately we had because we wanted a pre dinner drink in the bar before we ate. Even when we did arrive we weren't sure if we had arrived at the back entrance because we stood for ages with no welcome or acknowledgement. A very disappointing start to our evening. When someone did come they didn't take our coats. We went through to the snug for a drink. They gave us menus and went away. Later came back for our order. We got our drinks and ordered our food. Then very quickly afterwards we were asked to go through to the restaurant. We had only had a couple of sips of our drinks and it was still prior to the time we had actually booked our table for (7.30pm). We felt rushed. The food came and was fabulous. I had the beetroot starter which had beautifully cooked beetroots and some pickles. It also had a grain through it. I couldn't remember what the grain was so asked a member of staff. She didn't know so went away to ask and came back saying it was probably buckwheat....probably! My main was pork belly with parsnip and an apple reduction. The pork could have been cooked a little longer. I think belly needs to be very well cooked until really soft. The top skin was impossible to cut through as it was not crisp, I couldn't eat it. A steak knife would have helped. Having said that it was still a good dish which could have been excellent. We had sides of mashed potato and greens with pickles both superb. The presentation of both dishes was innovative and inviting. Portion size was good too not tiny portions of fiddled with food which I much prefer. The service was not as polished as the food. There was no obvious manager and we had different servers which is never quite as good as one for the entire meal. The servers were scruffy not appropriate for such a lovely building. Overall it was OK but could have been superb with more attention to some details. Service: 2 Location: 3"
