"I visited the MacDonald Inchyra Hotel Spa in Falkirk for a 2 Course Sunday Lunch for 2 people on Sunday 8th August, and would like to express how disappointed I was. My partner ordered the Roast Chicken with Yorkshire pudding, vegetables, roast potatoes and...jus. Instead of the roast chicken, roast beef, was brought out. We thought this as a simple mistake and returned it, awaiting the roast chicken to come out, with my meal going cold, as I did not want to commence my food before my partner’s had arrived. When the roast chicken dinner came back, the Yorkshire pudding was missing. I queried with the waitress, who came back 10 minutes later with a cold Yorkshire pudding on a small plate, with gravy on the underside of the pudding I can only suspect this was the same Yorkshire pudding that arrived with the original beef dinner, and had since been sitting to the side to also go cold. Before ordering her dessert, my partner asked the flavours of the the 3 scoop Arran ice cream, and was advised by Julia the waitress that it was strawberry, chocolate and vanilla. When the ice cream came out, it was strawberry, chocolate and rum raisin. My partner ate the strawberry and chocolate and left the rum raisin. Normally I wouldn’t have raised this as an issue, but due to the already disappointment with the mains it felt as though there was a lack of care and effort from the kitchen. I therefore raised this with Julia whilst paying. She was apologetic and advised that kitchen must have ran out of vanilla. As the manager of a food establishment myself, I completely understand how and why such mistakes happen, and that it is appropriate to replace with an alternative when certain products run out of stock. However, I would be inclined to believe that the more appropriate response would have been for the kitchen to advise the waitress of this, so as to allow for us to choose an alternative. If the kitchen hadn’t seen this as an option, due to staffing pressures or whatever other reason, I think the vanilla flavour should have been replaced with either chocolate or strawberry, as these were the other two flavours that were requested, so at least it was known that the customer liked these flavours. I feel that to assume rum and raisin as an appropriate replacement for vanilla was random, especially given that rum and raisin ice cream isn’t a flavour that everyone likes. Staff hotel were polite and the hotel was aesthetically pleasing, and as stated, the first one or two mistakes I could bypass, though this experience would definitely put us off returning in the future, either for a stay, spa or food. I had emailed the hotel privately prior to posting but like some of the other commenters, I also feel palmed off after having received no reply."

"Although the food and service at this restaurant are, for the most part, excellent, I felt rather disappointed by the dessert while dining here on one occasion earlier this summer. Following a very satisfying main course, I asked to take a look at the dessert menu. To my surprise, there were no prices alongside each item, which was especially incongruous because the main menu did display prices. I ordered the Greek yogurt with honey, which is a very simple, light dessert comprising basic ingredients. When the pudding arrived, the honey was conspicuous by absence because, I was told, they had run out of it. Instead, I had a bowl with yogurt garnished solely with toasted pine nuts. It was tasteless; as anyone knows, the honey defines the dish! To cap it all, when the bill arrived, I discovered the cost of the Greek yogurt without bee nectar (the price of a dessert, having merited no mention on the menu, suddenly reared its head and became important where the bill is concerned! . It was a whopping £7! I was flabbergasted. Without a key ingredient, it should have been a fraction of that price as a concession. Why had nobody just popped to a local shop to pick up a jar of honey during the day? I would also suggest restoring prices to the dessert menu. There can be no earthly justification for hiding them. Unfortunately, the dessert fiasco overshadowed the other parts of the meal, which, in fairness, were very good indeed."

"Pre booked 6pm Mother 's Day...Sounded like a lively Benidorm bar from the outside which was worrying...inside the volume was plainly ridiculous for a restaurant, lots of irritated adults and kids covering their ears to drown out the Prince and Elton John covers being warbled in true pub singer style. Only offensive due to the volume to give the fellow his proper credit. Nice bit of saxophone too.20 mins to take drinks orders frustrating as the skeleton staff mooched around hugging other customers, chatting etc.15 min wait for drinks to arrive and food order to be taken. No veggie options apart from a cheese on toast starter and chips...this can be excused due to the small menu (a good thing usually) and can happen anywhere so we won 't dwell on that.We then waited a further 50 mins for food until one of the blokes sidled up to us and told us that the 'chef had walked out ' and it was the 'second one today ' This seems to be at odds with other stories being told about running out of food. If you 're going to make a complete hash of something at least get your stories straight would be my advice. We left at this point where a lady had the audacity to ask if we 'd paid when really she should have been handing us free money I told her to keep the 20 quid deposit for the drinks and we 'd call it quits. This may very well have been a one off very bad day however it 's not a place we 'll be trying again in a hurry. Shame because although the service has always been rubbish, the food used to be marvelous."
