"the white onion has this perfect mix of high-quality eating, while in a relaxed and informal environment. my friend and I recently went to dinner and were so glad we did. it is classy and refinement in understood and felt only super.<br/ <br/ we talked with the excellent waiter about our first culinary experience there, and he was more than happy to help us through the options on the menu. at the beginning we chose the often baked brixham scallops with celeriac and truffle purée, lardo, hereford apfel gelee and the roasted Norfolk-Quil with sesam feigenrelish, crispy tapioca. each was cooked to perfection and we loved both every mouthful.<br/ <br/ on to the main course, and the Scottish venison saddle with glazed beet roots and crumbles, apfelpüree, girolles, venison sauce as well as the rump English kalbs with carrots and apricotsen peach, cheeked cheeks. we love our meat and it was a joy to see such options on the menu. in particular the venison was cooked with chic, careful and attentiveness. this was compensated for by the continuing quality of the waiting staff. there was still room for dessert, and after much consultation we went for the quitte tarte tatin and the pistachio ice cream, as a few sweet toothed people! they were the ideal way to finish a great meal and we both praised to come back and try something else next time. it sounded so good!"

"Ambient environment, and the open kitchen is a welcome feature, seeing the dishes being prepared. It was certainly of the quality you would expect of a Masterchef finalist (chap with the curly moustache). Unfortunately, my friend and I, got off to a rather disconcerting and rather rocky start. Our first encounter was to a serving of butter dishes with an ant infestation. Startled, we immediately brought the unsavoury experience to the attention a waitress. The dishes were immediately replaced, but only to have a second serving of butter dishes crawling with ants! We did receive an apology from the waitress, but it was all too lacklustre given the the situation. We even witnessed the waitress bring it to the attention of the chef, who also didn't seem to be all that bothered. The third serving of butter and rolls was successful, and we went on to have extremely tasty 3-course. The buratta cheese starter, liver hearts, and the extremely light, white chocolate sponge dessert were particular highlights. Indeed, all would have been forgiven if we had just received a more sincere and heartfelt apology for the ant situation. If the Chef has time to serve the starters to his customers, he has time to apologise for the unfortunate set of events at the start of our meal. A complimentary glass of something would also have gone a long way in mollifying us, but alas, no such thing. We left feeling rather disappointed. An evening I had been really looking forward to. Hopefully, better luck next time, as the food really was great, but I won't rush back!"
