"Booked here for Valentine's on the recommendation of a friend and it was fantastic, great food, excellent service (not constantly interrupting just let you enjoy your meal), slight mix-up with one of the orders but they sorted in it quickly and were very apologetic. Really made an effort on the ambiance and decor for the occasion, would definitely go back again."

"We joined in on some of their "special" evening events before, and they were always fantastic. This was our first time trying their breakfast, and it did not disappoint. The fresh ingredients were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious, making it a perfect start to the day. The staff was as friendly and helpful as ever. We're definitely planning to return and have already booked for the Valentine's dinner!"

"Hotel is under new ownership. They are updating and it looks so much better than previous photos you may find on the internet. There’s still a ways to go. Beds are extremely “firm”. Individual rooms are decorated with lots of billowing dusty fabrics, and still need a lot of updating. You may be scalded while showering if another guest flushes the toilet or turns on the cold water anywhere in the building. The showers in general need to be addressed. Shower curtains were flimsy plastic that blow around while you shower and stick to you… which is not pleasant especially because they’re mildewed in places. The staff was extremely friendly. Sitting in the lounge and enjoying a drink from the bar was a highlight. The main area of the hotel is very nicely re-done, and staff treat you well. Would visit again as I met the owner and can tell he’s working to improve it."

"We have visited The Nook a few times and we were not disappointed this time. We don 't usually mark Father 's Day but I booked to treat my husband last Sunday. I chose The Nook because I thought it might be relatively child-free! I was probably rather optimistic and a very large party arrived with several young children in tow but we were almost finished by then so didn 't bother us unduly. We don 't dislike children (have several grandchildren) but the setting in the Nook is not the most child-friendly eatery. I only say that because some restaurants particularly cater with play areas etc. The meal was excellent given the day and the fullness of the place, which was good to see. I thought it was very well priced too. Our roast beef was absolutely delicious. I only marked it down a little on 'star ' rating because it is lovely to catch the restaurant at a less busy time. We will return."

"Reservation made for afternoon tea for a birthday treat. No table set on arrival, other diners had table cloths. Felt there was no benefit booking. Although we had put requests on our booking these had to be reiterated although this was not a problem and was catered for, the sandwiches were very noticeably unevenly filled and cut. The cream with the scones was served runny and had not been creamed. The cakes were pleasant enough. Tea was forgotten and mixed up so we had to swap. The staff were not very attentive with us having to gain attention for our requirements, i.e for our pots of tea and additional hot water, then we had to ask twice for the bill. Thank goodness for the Prosecco!!"
