A traditional Greek dish with seasoned meat, fresh vegetables, and tangy tzatziki sauce, all wrapped in warm pita bread.

"I visited and dined at this restaurant twice in one week while I was in Bristol in November 2022. The souvlaki gyros, both chicken and pork, were excellent and had great taste. It is rare to find a souvlaki place in the UK that upholds the same standards as we have in Greece when it comes to flavor and meat quality. The staff were welcoming and accommodating. I would give this restaurant 5 stars across the board and hope to dine there again soon. I just wish there was a Taka Taka restaurant where I live."

"I am also a sucker for an open kitchen and love watching the chefs in yiamas prepare my food. for me it adds the cozyness of the place, because the separation between them and the kitchen has broken off. I have always set myself down so I can watch the kitchen, but they have an equally spacious upper floor that looks ideal for a big party. now thoughts are spilled by my head of a big party in yiamas with a middle week meze (probably could I convince them to make a meze? – I might have to get on the phone to arrange."

"beautiful small caffe with a surprisingly extensive menu. many vegetarian options and quite decent vegan choice, including a whole day cooked breakfast for only £7.50 including a drink of choice. the brekkie included hash browns, sausages, beans, good quality toast, spinat, tomaten, avocados and mushrooms and was beautiful and fill, and I always like the uptake of spinat in a fry up as not only it goes surprisingly well, but it makes it a bit healthy I got no chance to try some cake on this cake but I know of their Facebook page they have"

"order by eating them last night. from here I had not ordered, but my partner lived in Greece for many years, so you wanted to give a wee taste of her child. both my partner and I were very impressed. eating was delivered on time, chips were still crispy, pita brote had these nicely carburized elements and the meat was great, especially the port gyro. Since the restaurant realized that we were a new customer, they even threw them in a large 2l bottle irn bru free. will order again!"

"a real paradise for food! loading on the menu, yet quality is really high. I had the pork royos special (I think), that was incredible. the personal was beautiful and the place is a cozy affair. highly recommended if they try something new. vegetarian options: much to choose. child-friendly: many children when there is, including mine. Accessibility: in the ground floor. thetary restrictions: many to choose, and confidently, they could exchange the necessary if necessary."

"Very bad waiting staff obviously doesn’t want to know about issues and clearly very rude. Breakfasts was very pretentious and therefore expensive however couldn’t even get to order due to the rude encounter with staff, need more training in how to be polite and deal..."

"Amazing, fresh food, great portion sizes, very friendly and speedy service. Well priced too. Went there at about 18.00 on a Thursday after shopping in Glasgow, ordered the souvlaki (plates) and a Greek salad. We asked them to skip the chillies in the salad (some people noted that the food is spicy, so know that you can make these requests). Seriously, couldn't have asked for anything better. Hard recommend!"

"Heading to the Hippodrome I looked for somewhere we could have a pre show dinner but not too heavy. The Old Yard Tapas Bar was sporting a tempting Spanish Tapas and Greek Meze Vegan Dinner Menu so gave it a bash. In the evening each table is candlelit, intimate but can be open for good chat for groups. Bar is well stocked, music was pleasant and staff attentive with a nice ambience. There is a different vegan lunch and vegan dinner menu which are extracts from the main menu with some dishes changed to suit vegans. The vegan dinner menu sported 9 Spanish Tapas and 8 Greek Meze choices, with 11 sides (see picture). Unlike many places which brag about a good a menu but in reality they don’t have half of the ingredients, only 2 were not available due to being let down by suppliers. We choose carefully to ensure the tastebuds had a different sensation or texture and we were not disappointed. The ‘Breadbasket’ to start with had soft olive bread with vegan butter, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. A lovely appetiser while the food was being cooked and very cheap too. Spanish ‘Patatas Ali Oli’ was warming comfort food consisting of tapas fried potatoes topped with a vegan ali oli (see picture) Spanish ‘Morcilla Y Chorizo’ tasted just like real black pudding, but was a vegan black pudding with soy chorizo, topped with red onion. Amazing. Spanish ‘Chorizo Con Pimentos Asados’ delighted our tastebuds. Rich with no obvious indication it was vegan at all. It’s a soy chorizo with roasted red peppers and pan fried in brandy and garlic. Delicious. Greek ‘Boorekakia’ was really tasty and while the texture may put some off (very soft and slippery) it tasted really nice. It’s sliced aubergine, rolled and stuffed with vegan feta cheese and topped with tomato and vegan parmesan. We also ordered the Greek ‘Halloumi’ but it was off the menu so they served at feta version instead (and never charged us for it it was on the house). It’s is pan fried vegan halloumi (feta for us) served with oregano lemon on top. Refreshing and real palate cleanser. Washed down with a jug sangria, it felt like we were on holiday. Without doubt we’ll be back next time we’re in Darlo try the vegan lunch menu next Updated from previous review on 2022 03 31"

"steki taverna is a charming family run Greek taverne, founded in southsea in portsmouth since 1998. the decor is welcoming and similar to the taverns that they see in Greece – terracotta floor, wooden tables and beams. They opened a second two-g in brighton in 2006. in the course of the years we must have sampled most items on the menu: as with most restaurants, some dishes are better than others and we are repeatedly withdrawn to our favorites. there are a good number of meat, seafood and vegetarian decisions. this is a good place for vegetarians – most of the hot and cold starters are suitable for vegetarians. menu items are t"

"So disappointed! We ordered 2 x regular grill halloumi and vegs, 1 spinach pastry and 1 dessert. When I opened the bag my first impression was only greasy paper bags inside, no a proper take away boxes. Our meal was called: Grilled halloumi and vegs...There were only 1 small slice of halloumi per person, grilled pepper, onions and chips and no yogurt sauce (something they made me angry). They sent us a cheese pastry instead of the spinach one and small dessert portion.I called and they told me that if I wanted more halloumi I should have ordered the larger option, something that made me laugh when the main is called Halloumi with vegs, but wow, only one slice of halloumi per person? Really?I paid £20 and we were still hungry after dinner. Also the packing was a paper bag. If someone is going to eat there then fair enough but for a deliveroo service I expected better quality, it was all messy in the bag.Really bad experience sorry."

"Came here tonight, had lovely gyros which were reasonably priced. Was nice to get a bottle of still water straight away without asking. 3 staff were lovely, in particular the friendly waitress with the glasses. Not sure if chocolate brownies on the house happens every night but they were most welcome. Restaurant decor nice and toilets were very clean. Will definitely return."

"Food good, not worth what you pay though. I found the restaurant overall a bit shabby and in need of tlc… flaky paint, half painted ceilings, lots of dirty marks on walls, dirty chairs, just overall a very unfinished scruffy kind of look. Which would be ok if the prices reflected this, but premium prices for scruffy pubs is not great. Lots of those tiny little fruit flys everywhere getting in your food whilst you’re trying to eat. Staff very very inattentive, took forever to take orders then you never see them again. Had to go searching every time I wanted a drink or anything else, they literally are not interested in you! I went on a Monday night so they can’t use the “we are busy” excuse. Overall atmosphere is awful, you are trying to relax and enjoy your meal with music and giant tvs both playing sound’s together. As already stated this would be fine if it was cheap pub grub, all this is is overpriced tat. You certainly don’t get the experience you pay for. Save your money and go elsewhere. You go much nicer pubs and pay half of what you do here"

"Just had to put pen to paper to say what a fantastic and delightful experience it was eating at this restaurant today. Having just moved to the area from Yorkshire we drove out today to explore the local area, visiting Castle Douglas. Seeing this restaurant...brought a smile to our faces as three years ago we honeymooned in Greece. We have tried eating in Greek restaurants in Yorkshire to recreate the Greek experience but everyone has been disappointing. Although busy today the front of house girls were very friendly and accommodating and managed to fit us in and made us feel welcome. We ordered the meze starter for two as well as two main courses and wow the food was incredible. The authentic taste of the food was enough to transport us back to Greece three years ago. We were blown away by the food, the front of house staff and obviously the kitchen staff and chefs who made eating at Nikos such an enjoyable experience. We had a lovely day out in a lovely town. Without any shadow of a doubt we will be back to sample more delights. Authentic Greek cuisine has really been captured here in Scotland."

"always fantastic eating, the lame aprons are amazing, I always order them as part of my meal and then try something new each time. I had no great experience with Greek eating and I was never in Greece, but after eating here a few times, I plan a trip now when restrictions are lifted, but for now little greek is as close as everyone will come!"

"we had no reservation, but were raised and asked. we received a nice warm reception and was shown on a table for 2 inside. the restaurant was quiet then, next to the beautiful Greek music in the background. when we ordered and waited our food, the restaurant quickly filled out. we had an appetizer of tzadziki and pitta brot, then I had falafal with hümm and a little salat. hubby ordered a mixed (chicken and bark) souvlaki with chips. the food came hot and looked delicious. it was too. the falafal had a nice taste, but was not chili spicy so perfect for me. Hubby said the souvlaki was perfectly cooked and simply melted in the mouth. don't pluck today. the service was excellent and the staff was very friendly. nothing was too much annoyed. a beautiful meal and we will visit again when in harrogate."

"Ok...so we walked in...was told a 30min wait for food and an hour and a half later, food came. In between...we heard that there were staff shortages...we saw staff outside chatting with customers (more likely friends)...had to constantly wait at the bar for service...while waiting heard several complaints from other customers. The team didn't really look like they were in control. Two of them didn't look like they gave a toss. Over to the food, passable....and I mean very standard. Bits missing....some of it was cold...we had to wait for all the means to come out (around 15mins in all)...the last one being the kids meal of a couple of chips and a microwave Chicago town pizza...oven baked and burnt! We were given a round of drinks free...but since we're not drinkers...this was a couple of cokes...a couple of orange cordials and a fruit shoot. The whole experience was pathetic. This is by far the worst place I have visited. The cleanliness was poor with food trampled into the floor...the tables messy and sticky. When approached on the complaints section of the website...it's taken till now (40 days) and several chase ups to get a response. A pretty standard response too with a £15 voucher. When you consider that there was 6 of us..and the visit was ****....we expected a little.more than £15. We had spent around £90 The bottoms line....if you're wanting a pleasant and nice meal with some nice atmosphere....DO NOT GO HERE! I believe you will leave feeling disappointed."
