"Stopped coming here a year ago because of many issues, but reluctantly retuned early June to find the place had transformed back to what i remembered from years gone. Warm and welcoming with a lovely atmosphere. Everything was a plus the staff were so friendly one Emily in particular. We as a family thought new owners had taken over. As the management seemed different and to be fair the food was amazing. and despite the cost this was a treat that was truly worth it. We all couldn't wait to return. However fast forward a few months we all returned as a group to be so disappointed in the whole experience. The atmosphere we loved seemed to have disappeared and the feeling of warmth had gone. service was average but the food was so below par. we decided to ask why this had happened but was met by rudeness on a great scale by a young man claiming to be the assistant. Who claimed no one else had complained so what was the problem. No apology at all. We were goin to ask for a full refund but my wife decided to leave as she was too upset. The Manager came out as we left. too late if me and my whole party were concerned. I'm sure he was the Chef before, Perhaps he should return to the kitchen. This has always been considered a treat at the bunk what with the cost of living crisis. But myself and my friends will now spend our money somewhere else where you can get real value for money where people know what customer service and standards really are and your given that feeling that you would love to return. Here none of us will return and hope this review and experience may help others when thinking of treating themselves or using those extra pennies that are precious. Have no idea what is goin on here what a disaster. We all felt Cheated."

"Shocking experience! Wouldn’t recommend!! Me and my boyfriend went for our 5th year anniversary meal. They messed our booking up as we had to cancel our first booking but they were under different email addresses and we were told they had sorted it. We arrived to a woman who eventually gave us a table after we had tried to explain they had cancelled the wrong booking even though I had emailed from a different email address and they had confirmed the previous one has been cancelled the day before we made the second booking, she still told us it wasn’t the restaurant fault and we weren’t bothered as accidents happen The food was average at best, nothing special what so ever, I got the fish and chips and the fish was extremely greasy and I found some black plastic in my fish, however I did not complain as I have good manners and didn’t want to cause an issue as we were there for a celebration. My boyfriend has allergies and could not eat coleslaw so we asked for it to be removedhis burger arrived with coleslaw inside!!! Luckily I had realised and warned him before something serious happened and we asked for a replacement which took 15 minutes! I had almost finished my meal by that point. I ordered a sticky toffee pudding and it was completely dry inside, I was struggling to get my spoon through it and we did not finish it. The cocktail and beer was average and overpriced. Paid for a coke, came in a small glass with more ice than anything and wasn’t even half a can. The most strange thing was that when we asked for the service charge of £8 to be removeda very old woman with short hair and large glasses and clearly a temper issue came over and spoke to us horribly and questioned why we had asked for it to be removed. I told her the fish I got was very greasy and the cake was very dry, she did not like my honest reply and started to raise her voice which was very unprofessional, I was so shocked with her tone of voice and then she of all people asked us to leave when we refused to pay the service charge and I told her it was discretionary as it said on the menu. Disgusting treatment from what I’m assuming is the manager and I’ve seen other reviews now that have complained about the same woman. Honestly so disappointing as we went for a celebration and someone had to ruin a nice day for us, hope she gets some help with herself or finds a job more suited to her hopefully away from members of the public. "Been going here since it opened and always felt it well priced, imaginative food and good ingredients. Last night it could only claim to be one of the three. The flavour of the scallops in my starter was killed stone dead by the spicyness of...the XO sauce which was good in itself, but the scallops belonged nowhere near it. My main of fish cakes and prawns was a disaster due to the poor quality of the ingredients. My hake a grey colour and mushy, not the firm white glistening piece of fish I would expect for a dish. The prawns also soft and mushy, clearly not fresh. The fish cakes were in fact potato croquettes fish in these was nonexistent. My dining partners dish of lamb was dry and as a slo cooked piece of meat one would expect the opposite. I suspect not freshly made for it to eventually dry out like that. His gnocchi hard from being re heated and fried, the element of mint was there but fading. Service was average as our table piled up with empty glasses and an empty water bottle I had to pile them to the side to make it obvious. White and rose wines are chilled to death. Its a rather annoying trait that they swirl ice in each glass to make it cold then pour refrigerated wine into it. A Viognier I ordered was barely recognisable. The rose I suspect oxidised by living a long lonely life in the fridge. It was drinkable though. Trip advisor need to update prices here. Starters are and mains start at for chicken and for veggie option but most with fish and chips Gone is the early bird menu."
