"We had a family reunion in Harwich and decided to go to the wine bar as it was always a lovely place to eat. What a disappointment. As soon as we walked in a waitress announced that we couldn’t all have a roast as there weren’t enough and was asking what we wanted before some of us had even sat down. Once meals were ordered we were told lots of other dishes were also unavailable. The meals arrived fairly promptly but were dire-the roast beef was grey. We then wanted to order desserts but couldn’t as the kitchen had closed. Overall, we felt very unwelcome and the staff were verging on hostile after a clearly busy day. It’s such a shame that a long-established Harwich eatery has gone down hill."

"I travel a lot, but I’m an Englishman so I know my pubs this one is a gem. Great choice of beer, I had Dorset Gold, delicious. Food was really good and traditional. Friendly staff where very welcoming and I’ve only had a few Ploughmans lunches in my time but this was easily the best! Great dramatic location as well so summer or darkest winter a cosy pub not to be missed. Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Great view"

"It's a little bit of nostalgia for me as I used to go to Germany fairly often as a child. The flavours of the sausage and the curry were spot on! The fries were very nice too and the drinks excellent. It wasn't busy (we were the only customers for a while) but the staff were attentive, relaxed and friendly. Over all, a really nice stop in a rainy day. Oh, and the Boney-M on the sound system was a bonus for this 80s oldtimer."

"We always make a point of trying to get booked in for a meal when visiting in Skye. Such a lovely atmosphere, in a beautiful location. Always made to feel welcome and staff are so kind and friendly. The food, WOW! The menu has changed slightly since our last visits, to a tapas idea with all freshly made and locally sourced ingredients. Presentation is perfect and all the dishes tasted amazing. We had the scallops, steak, baby potato salad, breaded halloumi and fries. With good advice from Anna, we shared the cheeseboard after. You can also expect to find Mac in the bar area, a wee celebrity in the Ferry Inn! We look forward to our next visit be sure to book as they get booked up quickly! My only complaint is that there’s not really a quick route from where we live to Uig, to visit more often. Thank you again for a wonderful evening!"

"Our company event at Charley’s was a fantastic experience. We reserved the venue for our team-building evening, and the food was excellent—probably the best Mexican cuisine I’ve had in a long time. We also enjoyed some amazing cocktails, and the bartender was incredibly friendly, accommodating all of our group’s requests. To our surprise, there was a DJ on a Thursday night, so we decided to extend our celebration, and I'm glad we did! Everyone had a wonderful time. As the organizer, I highly recommend Charley’s in Windsor Square. I’ve already booked it for my team’s Christmas party!"

"Fantastic location but some terrible customer service. We arrived on Friday evening after having requested a restaurant booking for 8:30. Our train was delayed and at 8:15 we called the hotel to ask if our table could be pushed back to 8:45 but were told the restaurant was closing at 8:30. I mentioned the restaurant reservation but they said it was a mixup and that was for breakfast in the morning until then I admit I had not ever experienced any hotel taking timed bookings for breakfast. I explained we had come from London and it was a Friday evening, could they not offer us any food? The man on the phone said they could offer 'some biscuits '. Said there was nothing else open anywhere close and that they had this problem a lot. Perhaps then devise a solution for your customers given arriving at 8:45 on a Friday after a long journey is a fairly normal occurrence? Rooms: 3 Service: 1 Location: 5"

"I very much hate to give a bad review but I do get frustrated with places that think that by stating vegan on the menu they are actually supplying something decent. If vegan food is just an after thought then I think best leave it off the menu. I went in this time for the vegan freak shake, it was warm, watery and had no flavour. A normal freak shake from them has ice cream, this was some chocolate sauce and almond milk and a small bit of cake for £6. Plenty of supermarkets have vanilla ice cream now, there is no excuse. It’s local, so it’s a shame. Maybe if they widen their vegan menu I may go back."

"Sweet old pub in super quiet location. Nutcha so polite and friendly. Husband cooks. This is not fast food, but delicious. Crab was on special, baguette or salad. Salad imaginative with fruits. Also home-made potato salad, very good. My husband had the burger, which he enjoyed, with excellent chips, which we all picked at. Interesting old photos, cosy old fireplace. A proper old-style pub, with modern cooking. All it lacks is a cat! The village now has good parking by the playing field, walk down from there to pub and admire the lovely church (open in day-time) and old cottages, some with pretty gardens."

"Visited the Wendron New Inn for lunch mid-week. The friendly landlady was very welcoming and the service. Our meals were very tasty and both featured local produce, which I think is always good. The menu had plenty of choice, the daily specials were very tempting too and the price very reasonable. The pub has a bar area which is dog friendly and a separate restaurant side and there is ample parking. Just one thing to note, it is actually situated on the main road in Wendron, next to the church and not in Wendron Street, Helston as shown on the map on this site. We will definitely be back and recommend you visit too."

"We have been here for lunch before and enjoyed it usually something simple like soup and a sandwich but always happy enough. Today I decided on the 'salad platter ' as it was such a hot day, a square plate with a few slices of chicken (nice and plentiful enough) but the salad consisted of a pile of iceberg lettuce strips with a few bits of diced cucumber and 2 cherry tomatoes halved with a dressing over it. The only thing I had specified apart from the chicken was that I didn 't want raw onion. I would have liked peppers, carrots, coleslaw/potato salad, maybe a boiled egg but there was nothing else. The only difference between mine and the side salad on the other plates was that i had a bigger pile of lettuce. When my mum went up to pay she was asked if everything was all right and said fine but the salad was a bit bare no reply. The only reason I gave 3 stars rather than less is that we have enjoyed previous visits."

"cleopatras is our favorite shop/bistro with a country mile. from the first visit we were amazed by the warm friendliness of the staff (especially james, which is one of the nicest people you could ever hope to come.) eating is fabulous and the menu is diverse and interesting. the layout and the device are simply perfect for the environment. we have often been there and often go out of our way to enjoy the experience. the atmosphere always raises us when we have managed our own little business for a week. we will continue to visit as often as possible (we live in warrington.) please do not always change cleopatras and if possible try to find a way to duplicate and administer james. we could use him for sure! simon and mary."

"We went to this restaurant with a large group on Valentine's Day. The restaurant is spacious and can accommodate larger parties. The menu had a wide variety of options for vegetarian dishes, but they did not have everything listed on the menu and were out of desserts by the end of the evening, despite not being very busy. The portion sizes of the dishes were not very large, but there was still enough to eat. Overall, the restaurant had a good selection of food and drinks. We had a pleasant evening and the waiter was friendly, funny, and attentive. This restaurant is a good choice for vegetarians and those who enjoy world cuisine, but it may not be the best for couples or meat and fish lovers, especially if dining in a smaller group."

"We ate here on our first of two nigths staying at the next door Ullswater Inn in Glenridding. The Orangery is a beautiful room. It is spacious. with nice views out. They could have crammed more tables in, but they haven 't which gives the dining experience a lovely ambience. The service was very good. So why only an average rating? It 's because we didn 't feel the food was better than average. We started by sharing foccacia with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. For £7.50 we got two small pieces of average foccacia with a very vinegary dip. It wasn 't good and even it had been it wouldn 't have been worth it. For main course, one of us had steak and ale pie with seasonal veg and mash with gravy. The steak and ale pie looked like it had been bought in with 1/3 of it served up to us. It looked twice baked. The meat was soft enough but verging on a mush in parts. It tasted reasonable but was not really flavoursome enough, The brocolli and cauliflower were both overcooked. Our other dish was vegan broad bean and pea burger with chips. The 'burger ' was a little mushy with a mild flavour. Overall, we enjoyed our dining experience here much more than at the next door Ullswater Inn and the price was similar. However, we felt that it would and should have been so much better if the food had been better."

"The main courses arrived before we finished our starters, and at 8:50 PM, we were informed that the bar was closing soon, which put a damper on our evening. The restaurant was set to close at 10:30 PM, yet we felt rushed to finish our meal. When we asked for dessert after the bill was presented, they told us it was too late and turned off the lights in the restaurant, even though it wasn’t yet 10:30 PM. I expressed to the waitress that I had never felt so hurried in any restaurant before. While I understand the need to close on time, I didn’t expect to be rushed, especially given that this was my first time seeing friends after the pandemic. It was quite disappointing, especially since I had been looking forward to our dinner. In summary, while the food was excellent, the overall experience was frustrating, and I cannot recommend this restaurant based on the service we received."

"great place! my friends organized a surprise weekend in leeds for my birthday, and since I am vegan, they were looking for suitable places to eat for me. the caffe is nice with a great menu and nice staff. I had the sausage and maische from the specials that was amazing!
