"We went for the all you can eat buffet on Sunday £22pp. Booked for mid day glad we did got to 1pm and started getting busy. Food was good especially for that price and service was ok. Pros: price, some of the food was really nice, service was quick to start with. Cons, the chicken cashew dish was slimey, the chicken balls the batter was too thick. The service towards the end wasn't great, our plates were taken and we weren't asked if we wanted anything else( we did) . We waited patiently for half hour but gave up paid the bill and went."

"A little shop that did not inspire confidence. The man on the desk was very friendly as mentioned before. The food was excellent and there was lots of it. Would certainly use again. Worth driving a few miles for. Cash only so make sure that..."

"I don’t think we have visited since before lockdown and as we sat down I did not recognise any of the previous friendly faces. Surveyed the menu and recognised a huge increase in prices. Drinks are a priority here especially as they are charged so high. Small bottle of tiger £3.90! Coke £2.85. Waiter recognised we needed another beer and couldn’t get us another one fast enough. Yet when I asked for more plum sauce he made a sarcastic comment. From then I should have challenged his attitude. But it’s not why we were out. To challenge someone on their cheeky attitude. Anyway…. The veggie duck is now £12.50!!! Portion size reduced. You can buy a whole packet of the mock duck for £2.99 in the frozen section at the Chinese supermarket. It is served with the most measly portion of spring onion and cucumber so asked for more. They did not like that. Must cost all of 10 pence. The veggie satay is different. Zero flavour. £9??? Mushroom, pepper and onion on a skewer. As for the salt chilli ribs. There is no way you could share that portion. It used to be much bigger…. Regulars frequent this place and they are welcomed like royalty. If they don’t know you, they really don’t care. Small portions. High prices. Surly unwelcome service. We decided to get the bill and leave. If you are looking for a rip off joint this is it."

"Asian fusion denizen in this land the stodgy pub grub. that sings. we start with pork. my gothic taste bear, so delicate then the salt n pfeffer calamari. aromen and textures raised. good use of tasty, tasteful chili, warm, do not tear her head off. then the spring and sambal siu mai rolls. both very well the chili cow comes, so also the bark is shimmering. both exceptional. the sweet acidic huh with granatapfel but the highlight. How good! the chickens's sourcing sticks also cooked for perfection over hot coals, with peanut salad sauce, which was so tasteful. the children also loved the noodles the mood is busy, noisy, but personable. the employees are very attentive to feeding 4...read more"

"Food was disappointing. Chicken satay was bland and watery. Sweet and sour chicken was bland. The duck pancake starter was a let down was served on a sectioned plastic plate, duck wasn't shredded at the table and pancakes weren't in a basket so all went cold quickly. Insufficient cutlery as nothing provided to serve food/decant items onto plates. Ordered a mango juice and was served a Mogu juice drink with coconut jelly pieces totally different to what I ordered and therefore also overpriced. Coca Cola was served in cans rather than on draught and no lemon available. Generally disappointing, especially after seeing all the positive reviews. Place looks tired. Been to far better Chinese restaurants."

"Asked locals what was the best Chinese takeaway in Rothesay and was told the Sea Dragon. Well all I can say is I pity the residents of Rothesay if this is the best. I had a beef curry with fried rice and my wife had lemon chicken with fried rice. Both meals were disgusting and after only a couple of mouthfuls were binned. We certainly won’t be visiting this place again."

"I can't stop thinking about the salt and pepper onions from this restaurant. I wish I knew their recipe! I was impressed by how common duck was on Chinese menus all over the country, and how affordable it was. It's hard to find that back home. Although we wished the roasted duck chow mein had more vegetables, it was still delicious. The duck was fantastic, but the real highlight was the fried onions covered in salt and pepper. They were very savory (obviously, but we're used to low-sodium food so we're more sensitive), but that didn't stop us from devouring them. I especially enjoyed the sautéed onions and mildly spicy chilies that came with them. I could have eaten a whole pile of those alone! To Fat Panda Takeaway: I'm glad I don't live in Portree or near your location because I would go broke from eating your food all the time! Despite there being a line, the service was quick and the woman at the counter was very friendly. The food came out hot and stayed hot for a long time. The prices were fair too. No complaints here."

"Visited for a meal with family, my partner has been before for the creative menu offer but this is the first time visiting on a ‘regular’ night. Although it appears it’s not changed in many years the restaurant is clean and tidy, hosts are welcoming and the service is good, if a little slow at times. Food wise we all decided to go with the personal set menu. Hors d’Oeuvres, duck pancakes and 5 dishes from the main menu. The starters were decent, hot and fresh but aside from the ribs everything was a bit dry. Spring rolls, prawn toast, chicken and the seaweed were all dry with no sauces to go with them. Ribs were banging though and the crispy duck was also enjoyable. The mains were a bit hit and miss if I’m honest. The crispy chilli beef was neither crispy or chilli and bit bland really. The chicken curry was alright but nothing spectacular, as was the sweet and sour chicken. We had a chicken schezwan which was decent, nice bit of spice and the kung pao chicken was very enjoyable. None of it was wow though. Now if I’d had this meal for the £22 on the creative menu night then I think I’d have said it was reasonable value, not the best Chinese meal I’ve ever had but not too bad. The problem was, this meal cost over £200, nearly £45 a head which was a bit much for the quality of the food. A couple of beers aside it was all soft drinks. It’s known locally as a decent Chinese restaurant but I suspect this is manly for the all you can eat nights offering decent value rather than it being a high quality place to eat. By all means, if you want a decent fill of Chinese food try the all you can it ‘creative menu’ nights but I don’t think it’s worth a visit outside of these nights."

"Went to Mings for our anniversary and was greeted by a waiter wearing a hoodie and a wooly hat.... I kid you not!!.......we were then dumped on a isolated table upstairs and forgotten..............after 25 minutes I went to bar and ordered a bottle of wine.....when the waiter asked what table we were at...I replied. the one you forgot about ...... the meal was ok but the battered asparagus had no tips just stems..... some Chinese background music would have been nice.... soft jazz didn't seem right.... all in all a bit disappointing!"

"Visited today for the first time and we really enjoyed it! The service was quick and efficient; the staff were polite and well-informed (one of us is gluten-free). The food itself was served in small portions which suited us well as we could eat/try more variety of dishes and order our favorites again (their salt and pepper chicken was especially good and surprisingly gluten-free). Another dish to point out is its sizzling plates, the ingredients used to cook ours were fresh and cooked in a thick aromatic source; a must have for ginger lovers. The place had a cozy atmosphere and an easy ordering system and to our knowledge, there was no time limit. Little puddings at the end were a welcomed surprise. Overall a great option for all you can eat with tasty food for all."

"The absolute worst customer service. The guy is so rude. I ordered aromatic duck and it was fatty and not cooked properly, when I called to complain, he basically called me a liar and told me that there wasn’t anything he would do. When I told him I was going to throw it in the bin and I would be without food, his reply was “okay then”. We thought we would try again, my partner called this time and the same man was so rude to him. He said he couldn’t hear him, so my partner raised his voice to read out the card number to which the guy said “maybe if you spoke up earlier we wouldn’t have this problem”. His tone and attitude suck. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. We’ve now gone elsewhere."

"yesterday evening we had a joint Christmas party, fifteen of us. from the moment we went to the restaurant we were greeted. the personal had allowed one of the party to display a banner and balloons to the reserved table earlier on the day. the food was served inconspicuously and quickly (as well as the drinks and every plate that came out was presented beautifully. one of our party was a delightful of the Eastern cuisine and he was very impressed by the food. the rest of us plebs just ate and enjoyed it! many thanks to jason and staff for an excellent meal. we loved it so much that we all agreed that we will repeat the opportunity all three months (be warned! serious if they are looking to go somewhere for a fabulous meal, this place is highly recommended by all fifteen of us."

"This was the perfect place to stay, the rooms were lovely and clean, bed was comfy, and we had kettle with tea, coffee etc. The location was just a short walk from the main town and the pub itself was very welcoming and had a great atmosphere. The only negative is that there is a car park outside that doesn't give the option to stay overnight so we had to park in a car park down the road and walk back, but apart from that, I cant fault it."

"had all they could eat. really like the smaller portions of freshly cooked foods. the choice of the starter was great and we were offered more as soon as we were finished. would recommend the squid. but honestly everything was excellent. we moved to the pancakes. again excellent. after that we had a place for a main course. the chicken with cashewn nuts in yellow bud sauce was very delicious and perfectly cooked. service was great and I will return definitiw."

"My husband and I used to live near San Francisco, which has a large Chinese population. Some of the best Chinese food we ever had was in Chinatown S.F. We were lucky to have delicious and authentic Chinese cuisine right next door. However, since moving to the U.K. 10 years ago, we hadn't found a Chinese restaurant that lived up to our expectations until we discovered Spring Deer. We are thrilled to have found this place, as the food is absolutely fantastic. The menu is extensive and the restaurant boasts a traditional Chinese decor. The dishes are fresh and delicious, unlike many other Chinese restaurants we've tried in the U.K. The beef dishes, in particular, are incredibly tender and flavorful. We highly recommend the Beef In Black Bean Sauce. Spring Deer has been in business for over 30 years, and it's clear they are doing something right. Every dish we've tried during our five visits in the past few months has been fresh, flavorful, and aromatic. The family-owned and operated restaurant provides friendly and welcoming service, showing how much they care about their customers. Spring Deer is a popular spot, so be sure to make a reservation for the weekends. Walk-ins are welcome on Tue-Thur, but weekend tables fill up quickly. In addition to the Beef In Black Bean Sauce, we also enjoyed the kung pao chicken, sweet and sour pork, and chef's specials. The restaurant offers vegan and vegetarian options as well. If you're in the area and craving quality Chinese cuisine, Spring Deer is the place to go. Highly recommend for the food, atmosphere, and service."

"We are a group of Singaporean visitors, scourging the land for Asian food after a week of burgers, fries, fish and chips and steaks. Oh boy, were we satisfied. Imagine cold winds blowing at you while you run from your car to the restaurant. You are freezing and the traffic light refuses to turn. You enter the restaurant, hungry, cold and angry. You feel a warm blast of air and a familiar waft of fried rice and noodles. You smile, you found home. Back to the review, big portions of food. most dishes are priced at NZD$20. we had 4 people, we order 3 dishes and a medium portion of rice. It was more than enough. Beef with broccoli was our favorite dish. We came back the next day for lunch. They have a cheaper lunch menu, serving rice and noodles of different variety. I had the roast duck noodles which was mmmhmmm. Recommend to go for Asian tourists who missed home-cooked food."

"If only Tripadvisor allowed for a 0 rating. Despite the restaurant receiving 4.7 stars on Uber Eats, my partner and I decided to give it a try due to its diverse Asian menu. We ordered Malay curry rice, sambal four-greens vegetables, tomato fried eggs, and lemon chicken. As a South Asian living in Europe for 6 years, I must say this restaurant should not be in business if they are serving such terrible food. The curry rice was nothing close to Malay, the sambal dish lacked any sambal flavor, the tomato fried eggs were watery, and the lemon chicken was dry and overwhelmed with lemon concentrate. None of the dishes were edible, and the chef(s) and the restaurant should be ashamed for serving such fake and tasteless food, disrespecting the culinary heritage of Chinese and Asians. There are much better Chinese and Asian food options in Cambridge, so don't waste your money on this subpar restaurant."
