"For our starters, we ordered the seafood gratin and garlic bread with mozzarella from the Italian menu. My wife enjoyed the gratin, but the cheesy garlic bread, while tasty, didn’t justify its £7 price tag; it tasted like a slice from a standard supermarket loaf. For our main courses, we opted for dishes from the Turkish menu, which were excellent. The portion sizes were generous, and the meals offered good value for money. My wife had the Lamb Chops, and I tried the Mixed Shish, both of which we thoroughly enjoyed. The desserts were also pleasing, though it was odd that the dessert menu wasn’t available online like the main courses. We were glad to try the baklava selection, which offered a nice variety. Overall, we had a great experience and I would recommend this restaurant. I would definitely return if I’m in the area again. Thank you! "since the change of property recently, I have dined twice in this Lebanese restaurant. both paintings, my friends and I enjoyed. decor has an authentic feel. very extensive menu for excellent trips. the personal is most helpful, but a little inexperienced, which in no way makes a pleasant experience. that will certainly improve. also very flexible, for example, there was no objection to me to order a meal to be shared by me and a child. has a large spacious interior dining area, additionally space outside the front for those who want to eat and smoke, or just a break and a zigarette that is protected from the elements when needed. how the dishes are prepared at the order, prepare them to wait, especially when all the appetizers are hot. if some nibbles, such as olives etc. were made available, the waiting time would appear less. because the restaurant has no license, they recommend to bring their own wein or beer with you. however, their unusual taste smoothings etc. are delicious and highly recommended try, regardless of byo. a proposed improvement would be better quality, greater serviettes. I want to visit again in any case!"

"Our group of six greeted warmly and ushered directly to our table upon arrival. The wait staff was friendly, but professional and prompt with their service. The food was excellent and the seating comfortable. Roof lighting consisted of a number of chandelliers made with multicolored glass that created interesting visual stimulation. I live in the USA, but would return to this restauarnt whenever in London, and would defintely recommend to frineds who plan to visit the souhwest of London."

"Meat liquor take over my local and I can’t even eat there anymore because it’s only burgers most days. I might be tempted but the meat liquor chain can’t be bothered to offer a gluten free bun. You can’t have your burger wrapped in lettuce in apparently. Is it so hard to keep a couple of GF buns in the freezer? Meat liquor been trading long enough surely!!?? Web presence says ‘its a pub that happens to have a meat liquor inside’ but the corporate style pictures on the walls don’t make it a good place to linger anymore….. bit of a dining hall feel…. shame….. and a bit short sighted really….. tune into forest hill and it might look after you. It ain’t East Dulwich ….. and nor does it want to be."

"Always of a good standard. Service very good. Waiters very customer focused apart from the cocktail bar staff who don’t come across quite as welcoming. Set meal for New Year’s Eve was a little disappointing. Starter platter was brilliant. Unfortunately something has happened to the butter chicken recipe and it was no where near as good as we’ve had before. The sweet could have done with being served warm in its entirety. Cold rice pudding is not normally the way we eat it. Left most of the sweet. All that said, def going back and ordering our favourite dishes. The place has been through a lot of changes. Mostly very good but need to keep an eye on the recipes and make sure any changes do not impact on quality as it did on the butter chicken on this visit. Keep up the good work!"

"I went on a date night with my partner and was amazed at how delicious everything on the menu sounded. I chose the mixed grill and my partner had the chicken tagine, both of which were so tasty. The chef even came out to greet all the customers! There were plenty of vegetarian options and some vegan options available for those with dietary restrictions. "I ordered a meal for myself and my children online from their website. I received a confirmation email indicating that they had received my order and that it would be delivered in 45 minutes. After 45 minutes had passed, I called to inquire about the status of my delivery and was informed that they had not received my order due to an issue with ordering through the website. I was quite frustrated as I was now left without a meal, and the person I spoke to showed no signs of apology or concern. I suggest that they update their website to advise customers not to order online until the issue is resolved. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience with poor service and communication."

"I usually don’t write reviews for restaurants but this restaurant was really gave us an amazing experience and i feel compelled to write this review Firstly;; just wanna state that this restaurant is SEVERELY UNDERRATED. When we entered the restaurant, there was nobody else dining here. Starting off with the pricing of the food. The prices of food here is relatively cheaper than everywhere else in the city and for the quality of the food that they serve, it’s a price for great value. Next, foods. There’s not that many options for food here but it doesn’t matter because the food here is AMAZING and i do not say that lightly. They serve a 3 course meal for £14 with foods you will probably not find anywhere else in Canterbury. The food was succulent and was delivered relatively quickly; they even made sure to serve us after we’d finish our starters more on this in the service section later but the foods, from starter to main course and dessert were simply sensational. I would highly recommend for everyone to try. Lastly, service. Where do i even start the service was simply put: amazing. There were constant checkins on whether the food was okay, whether we needed anything— water refills; more bread (complimentary btw! or anything. Extremely friendly service and I can see the dedication in the waiter’s eyes as well. Thats all"

"Had a booking for weeks for them to call on the day and say they will be closing the restaurant early due to staff shortage because of covid so will have to cancel my booking, they should’ve served who was already booked and not accepted walk ins and staffed properly for bookings only, not just shut the place so we have to look for somewhere else to eat last minute on the 23rd of December!"

"On the day that myself and a friend went to The George for lunch it was very busy. We had booked thankfully but rather than be shown to our table the man behind the bar pointed toward the restaurant and said we were in the corner. After sitting for 20minutes I caught the eye of a female serving staff who said she'd be with us in 2 minutes.......15 more minutes later I managed to get the attention of a lovely member of staff. She was less than impressed that we had not be asked if we wanted drinks by the man at the bar, who apparently had also failed to tell us when we arrived, that there was a 45 60 minute wait for food. True to her word our food was the next served so we waited for 45 minutes. The food was tasty but definitely not worth the wait. We had booked for 12.30 but were eating closer to 2pm. I expect The George would be ideal on quieter days but it appeared that they struggled to cater for large numbers. Very disappointed."

"There 's no doubt The Duchy has come to life once again. Food and service is great. The place is an absolute gem, being a traditional English pub so near to the bustle of central London life but a world apart from that bustle, being what we Brits call a Local ; just south of the River Thames. Sunday lunch in a homely, cosy pub is always a relaxing experience before the new week fires up. So why 3 stars? Whether you 're a local or on holiday (at the increasing number of Airbnb 's in Kennington) it remains an irritation about sneaky mark ups on that nice bottle of wine the two of you want to share with the food. That 's the significant down side to the current business model for the beloved Duchy. Take one example, a bottle of Cotes du Rhone Village Les Coteaux; shown in my photo as £10.99 wholesale. Sold to accompany your lovely meal in the Duchy at £31. That 's a mark up of 182%. Let 's hope the current management team wise up to that not being realistic in a Kennington Pub (yes it 's the industry average for Mayfair /Shard /Battersea Power Station/ Knightsbridge/ Kings Road) but not for our little Gastropub in Kennington. So let 's crack on and sort that out."

"Roasts arrived and required heating up, the roast potatoes were dry. The rest of it was lovely meat cooked really well. The sticky toffee pudding went down very well but I was disappointed in the brownie, crumbled as soon as I put my spoon in; didn’t eat most of it. The ice cream was very tasty so a mixed experience food wise. The staff were brilliant and took some money off the bill which was really appreciated"

"love this place! I have already taken a few times before Shawarma wraps away from there, but after jogging the meals of the people during the waiting I went there recently to feed. it was so good! the food was delicious, we had a mixed grill and it was enormous and really delicious. the baba ganoush was also delicious, and the baklava was the best I ever had. the service was also excellent. there is a really nice atmosphere in the restaurant and it has a great family feeling. definitiw my favourite restaurant in the elephant castle area! will be again a lot."

"We ordered takeaway and the order was wrong (not the delivery drives fault) when we called the restaurant the owner also tried to argue that the ezme sauce is a white creamy sauce until we proved him wrong. He then said he will call back in 5 mins for a solution. 15minutes later we called and the person we spoke to said he would deliver a fresh order in 30minutes accepting he had forgotten to send the right order and the person we previously spoke to had left. 1 hour later (still not receiving the correct order) we called again the owner said oh we cannot send your food out you have to come and collect but will be ready in about an hours time. He said he didnt call back as he had gone to deliver another order. We asked if he could deliver our order and he said he doesnt drive. We asked for a refund which he refused. He said we should come and collect and that he was not giving us £60 worth of food for free!? Ridiculous as our order was paid for £35.58 and was wrong (missing items). We explained we had paid for the food and would like our correct order delivered. He point blank refused and was incredibily rude. I would avoid at all costs. Owner has serious issues taking responsibilty for HIS errors. Which in the food industry can seriously ruin his business. I hope he learns before its too late! My advise would be to avoid a very arrogant owner in his deluded world!"
