"Out and about on a lunchtime constitutional along Portobello Road last week something interesting caught my eye. Set back from the road, hiding behind vintage clothes in the arcade, was an alluringly attractive Italian restaurant. On my own, without reading material and in a hurry to get back to work, I had no intention of sitting down to eat but I was compelled to go in and investigate. I glanced at the menu and clientele, was charmed by the decor of hanging dried meat and flowers, and decided I would return imminently.<br/ <br/ Thankfully an opportunity arose this week. I had taken it upon myself to arrange a lunch for myself and nine colleagues, and presented them with an option of four restaurants (secretly hoping that democracy would work in my favour). At first, take-up was slow as the more adventurous-sounding alternatives were far more popular, but risk aversion gradually set in and the simple Italian became the winner; a culinary hare and tortoise situation, if you will.<br/ <br/ “What if they don’t cater for big groups? What if it’s awful and I’m forever ridiculed for my restaurant choice?” Such questions were running through my mind, distracting me from my morning tasks.<br/ <br/ An amiable Italian gentleman saw the first sub-group and exclaimed “group of ten, this way please!” so we followed orders and went inside to our long table, immediately looking above us at the conservatory style ceiling and feeling as though we had walked into a Tuscan summer.<br/ <br/ Our charismatic waitress brought over an alternative to a complementary bread basket; a plate of amuse-bouche sized pieces of courgette frittata served on a forest of rocket. I was very impressed by this. They have foreseen that I’m going to be ravenous, having not eaten since my 11:00 AM apple; that I may not wish to bloat up on bread; that I enjoy being surprised, which I most certainly was. I had only been there ten short minutes and these people already knew how to please me more than some people who have known me for decades. If that isn’t customer service, I really don’t know what is. <br/ <br/ The menu is slightly unusual in that there isn’t the usual long list of pizzas and pastas to choose from, instead there were a couple of al forno dishes (baked in the oven), several paninis (with pizza bread), and a list of specials, a few of which were mains. I took from this that a decision had been made to offer a limited number of dishes, but to do them well.<br/ <br/ I had top-notch, considerably portioned gnocchi with bolognese sauce for £11.50, served whilst the tomato sauce was still bubbling from the oven, with fresh basil scattered on top.<br/ <br/ To make the experience even more superior, they should consider investing in a second credit card machine to take two payments simultaneously since this was a bit slow.<br/ <br/ I was really fond of this restaurant and highly recommend it. Now I just need to think up another reason to go back next week.."

"Wow! The pizzas at this restaurant are absolutely delicious. Every plate was cleared, which speaks volumes about the quality of the food. I highly recommend this place for dinner. The delivery service was excellent and the overall atmosphere was great. Prices were reasonable, averaging between £20-30 per person. Overall, I give this restaurant a perfect rating of 5 for food, service, and atmosphere."

"our party of 9 celebrated here tonight a birthday, first visit for most of us and I must say we had an amazing time. the personal was very friendly and fun with the children. eating was absolutely amazing. not only was delicious, but it was so full. "I used to frequent this restaurant because their delivery service was terrible, but it has improved significantly now. The food is absolutely delicious, especially the 2-piece fish dinner which is incredibly worth it. The staff are fantastic and I have been a loyal customer since I was young. This is the best fish and chip shop in Great Britain."

"Booked to come here to celebrate my Birthday with family. Have to admit, I haven't visited here since before 2019, my expectations were exceeded. They were most accommodating, due to the fact that some of my family members sadly became ill, so could not attend, however after informing Fiume, they were most gracious adjusted our table dinning requirements accordingly. The restaurant was very busy, however, that certainly didn't detract from the excellent attentive service that we received. From our starters of Crespella Ai Funghi E Salsiccia, to our mains of whole Seabass Flambe Di Gamberi, our food was superb, along with the very attentive waitress that looked after our table for our food drinks. It was quite a night, due to the fact that there must have been at least 6 other Birthday parties celebrating there, which was unusual to experience so many, . . just shows what a popular Italian Restaurant this really is. Thank You to all the staff chefs Fiume Italian Bar Restaurant, for making my Birthday celebrations an evening to remember. We'll definitely be back very soon."

"Few visiting canary wharf would not have walked past it but rarely would have sat to have a drink or coffee. What a pity because it surely is a hidden gem! And why? You will most likely always find a couch which in canary wharf is quiet an exception where people jostle for space in packed pubs. It has happy hours from 6 7 each day which is surely unheard of in canary wharf. It is nice and warm and indoors a deal breaker in winter months. Serving time for a drink is less than 5 min. And last but not the least it has a nice vantage point with view of the food court of jubilee place. I am sure it is the closest pub from jubilee line and would beat even all bar one. Where it fails is the limited starter/ snack menu. The only option is slices of pizza. The dining menu is good but I doubt you will be dinning here given the numerous options downstairs. I would highly recommend this place if you haven 't been here."

"The restaurant refused to honor the Set menu reservation, claiming it was not valid. We ended up paying £99 for a starter, risotto, broccoli, two desserts, and 2 small glasses of red wine. They had no bread and no coffee available, as they said their machine was broken. We were the only customers in the empty restaurant, and it was clear why. It was a complete waste of money."

"First the positive: the pizza was excellent. Authentic Italian, quality and tasty. Where this restaurant fails is the fact that they cram diners too closely together, especially in their basement. Despite having booked in advance we were led to a table downstairs. This room is small, airless and dank and yesterday evening was hot. There isn't even elbow room between the tables. As each successive set of diners came down the stairs their faces revealed their dismay. At one point around a dozen teenagers were shown to a table for about six. They stayed five minutes before bumping their way out. Not their fault as it was virtually impossible to not bump into someone. Once we had finished our delicious pizzas we went outside to finish our wine and the queue outside left when they saw us emerge sweating. A great shame the owners of this otherwise excellent restaurant seemingly try to put profit above customer enjoyment."

"This is a really nice restaurant whose lunch menu provides great value for money. While it's not made clear on the lunch menu itself, you get both a starter and a main for £9. "fodmap friendly restaurant! the menu is full of garlic and wobble free, which was good to find. Although the items provided with gluten were not specifically marked, we could tell the personal what was suitable and if possible left the bread pieces on the side, so that both I and the rest of the table could enjoy it. we had a one-pot that was absolutely delicious and tried several of the cheese. it was so pleasant to go to a restaurant where we could order several dishes for the table and I could eat 80% of what we had ordered. I do not think that most of the foods in themselves was excellent, but for everyone on the fodmap diet (although obviously there is quite a lot of lactose if they want to go for the main attraction when they ate meat, I still think they would be good.) the staff was attentive, friendly and very careful to make it clear what I could/can not eat. a great meal with tellers for 5, with two beers, two soft drinks, 5 little gloomy and a coffee came to about £150, so I don't think that's too bad at all. I would like to see some gluten-free brot though! wheelchair access: a small step into the restaurant that was perfectly manageable in a high chair, tables are good for driving under, but the toilet is above."

"My wife and I make it a point to have a meal out at least once a month. Our previous experiences at this restaurant have been very good. We started with appetizers as usual, but when I ordered a medium rare filet steak, it came out well-done. I was disappointed to hear the staff try to convince me that it was cooked to the correct temperature. I shouldn't have to explain the difference between medium rare and well-done. Eventually, they replaced my steak with a medium rare one, but only after my wife had finished her meal."

"my wife and I try to get a meal at least once a month, previous visits here were very good. starter were in order, but I ordered a medium rare filet steak for my head, got my steak, which was done well, mistakes happen, but try to tell me that the steak was medium rare was just frustrating, I should not explain the difference, so replaced my steak with a medium rare, although after my wife had finished her meal."
