"Talk about fine dining with a quintessential live band and customer friendly staff the dishes were definitely 5*. We ended up having a dance session at the end and will definitely be going back more often. Highly recommended but be mindful of charges like ‘band/music charge’ which we weren’t aware off but was told (when queried) that it was a tip and mandatory but ppl should be notified of it. Anyway we gladly tipped the musicians as they were fantastic"

I did know that they have vegetarian options from the menu we saw the day before, but wasn’t sure if they had anything vegan. It turns out that they did not have any specifically vegan items on the menu. However, the waitress and kitchen was very accommodating and made modifications to the full veggie breakfast for me. It was your typical full breakfast made vegan that was simple and cooked well with fresh produce. I really appreciate how helpful and accommodating the staff were, especially in answering my questions in assuring me it was vegan. Really made me feel at ease. My friends enjoyed their Buttermilk Chicken and Waffle too which was a good portion too. We all loved the juice and smoothies we ordered as well! We also had a look at their cocktail menu which intrigued us. Excellent customer service, good vibes with the bright and fun décor that is still classy, good food at reasonable prices, I do see myself coming back here for dinner/to try their cocktails if I find myself in Edinburgh again."

"enjoyed our evening in james st it was the best culinary experience of our trip! we had been happy to see this evening as we had a few hit-N-seals in the course of our trip to belfast. we were not disappointed and had the fabulous evening. we were quickly welcomed and sitting. the place is beautiful and spacious. revitalized and environment. the bar is great and would like to come back, only for drinks at the bar sometime. we ordered cocktails immediately. an Irish gin negroni and a traditional old fashion. my neger was absolutely excellent. I think the old fashion could have been done with real sugar cubes and not sugar syrup, but it wasn't too bad. we were quick to choose our wein. we chose a beautiful juicy red, the cline, the old vine zinfandel, 2019. to begin we had the ham hock terrine with piccalilli champ bread and some scallops with boar bell. the hanging-hock court was the best ham-hock I had. the homemade piccalilli was something else. really nice crispy and sharp sharp to help cut through the hammock and the champbrot was delicious crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. the scallops and black bells were disappointing, as they lacked no salt or genuine aroma or texture between them. we still ate it and shared the rest of my hammock. we both decided to go for the co. tyrone 270g fillet steak with sides of champ and truffle parmesan chips. red wine and pfeffer sauce. they were fantastic steaks. Actually, I didn't think I would finish mine, but I did. I have met the right choice with the jus and the truffle chips. they went so well together, the dryness of the parmesan and sweet, slightly greasy of the jus. the steaks were perfectly cooked. a medium and my medium rare. fantastic aroma on the grilled outside of the steak and beautiful texture when they pierce. we both agreed that the champ was the best champ we ever cost. it was hot, soft, so well aromatized with hot butter on the top of the copper serving pot melt. it was really the most incredible champ. I was too full of dessert. but my sample ordered the sticky toffee pudding sundae. the team was friendly enough to make me an espresso martini that was both decaf and not a sugar syrup. it was brilliant. we both managed to work our way, although a surprisingly light sticky toast desserts on Sunday. the team was fantastic. very friendly and chatting to us. the bar team did not stop, I had the pleasure of standing and watching them make a great selection of drinks and cocktails. the waiting staff were also very friendly when they check in with us at comfortable places to ensure that we were in order. we felt very well looked around. the service was very good, we didn't feel any hurry, it felt like such a free time in this restaurant. when we come back to belfast, we will be back in absolute terms and we will definitely recommend others. Thank you."

"First time out to a restaurant since restrictions lifted, and had a blast! The serve from the door to when I was seated was amazing and the serve at the table was very good I can't really flaw it, if I was to be picky I like getting to know my waiters, but I do understand it was a busy night. We opted for set menu in advance which I enjoyed every meal loved the prosecco and the cocktails. The entertainment was great, the singers and the band amazing I had so much fun next time I will hit the dance floor! Haha And will definitely be back and will try the main menu and more cocktails"

"I love the refinery! went for her all day breakfast, which was wonderful, friendly staff, fast service, really great atmosphere. they decorate very contemporary and industrial. we liked it so much that we went to dinner tonight. platz was full, we had no reservation, but they said they would fit us what they did! again another wonderful meal between us we had the Thai prawn curry, Thai chicken curry, salmon and burger. each of our meals was fabulous, waiting with the staff so friendly. in any case visit a place! a real jewel in some!"

The main issue was that upon being seated, we were informed that many menu options were no longer available. In my 40 years of dining out, I have never encountered a list of unavailable options as extensive as this. The excuse given for the limited food availability being because it was Christmas was wholly inappropriate. Despite this disappointment, the rest of the evening was satisfactory, with the food and service being decent. Overall, it was a letdown. I would recommend that the management improve their menu planning and food ordering process for the future."

The main reason being that as soon as we five were seated, we were given a list of menu options of what was no longer available. In 40 years I have never faced a list of missing options in any restaurant, perhaps the odd 1 or 2 options. Disappointment was compounded by the wholly inappropriate excuse that there was insufficient food because it was Christmas!! What remained of the evening was OK, food was OK and the service was good. "My family booked a table to celebrate my 70th birthday with 10 guests. First ever visit to this establishment and were we impressed. It was a busy Sunday lunch period but the staff were amazing and soon got us settled and seated and they had even helped to decorate the table with family requests. "Food was fine as usual service though was awful. Were not offered the usual bread olive dip to start that other tables got and have had before. Were not even offered dessert or menus for desert . Staff were generally sullen. Had to pay at bar as waited too long after i asked for bill. Worst of all when i was asked how was the meal when i paid i politely gave my opinion as above the rather precocious girl with an attitude offered no apology and just said that they were very busy and did not have staff . I remarked that i had been there since 7 pm and the restaurant was mostly empty so did not get the ‘busy’ bit she again no apology) just repeated they were busy and did not have staff. All she had to do was apologise and i would have felt slightly better about the whole experience. Not returning again"

Additionally, we were not offered desserts or dessert menus. The staff seemed overwhelmed, as I had to pay at the bar after waiting a long time for the bill. When I politely shared my opinion on the meal when paying, a member of the staff responded with an attitude and simply blamed being busy and short-staffed. Despite being at the restaurant since 7:00 PM and the restaurant being mostly empty, they continued to use being busy as an excuse. A simple apology would have made the experience better, but unfortunately, it was not provided. I do not plan on returning."

"The place and view were beautiful! The food was not good, unfortunately. An hour later, we received a starter that was uncooked and had raw meat. We sent it back, but the rest of the food came out lukewarm. The chicken wings were undercooked. The main dishes arrived at the same time as the appetizers, and they were not hot either. The portions were not satisfying and lacked flavor. The pizza was cold, and when we complained, the manager offered the meal for free. The service from the waiter and manager was good, but the kitchen staff may need improvement. I would return for drinks, but not for a meal. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant."
