"1st time here as was given a voucher by family who use this place regularly. Lovely place and very snug but comfortable inside if a little loud. It was my wife and I and our 3yr and 6 Yr old granddaughters. Starters came out and they were lovely. Very tasty and fresh. (I had prawn cocktail, wife had haggis and whisky sauce and the girls had garlic bread all lovely! . Then it was like we were forgotten about and when the mains finally came out I was a bit disappointed. The girls both had a simple 7 pizza both were burnt .... one worse than the other. I had the chicken breast with haggis and whisky sauce before I even touched the haggis all I could taste on the potatoes and veg was pepper whether a pepper sauce was used accidentally or that's how it normally tastes, I dont know. (They tried to tell me it was the haggis that was peppery and it was normal but I hadn't touched the haggis yet tried my wife's starter and that was lovely . Her steak was spot on (hard to mess up but she enjoyed that. Myself and the girls didn't eat much and to their credit they removed the items from the bill which was appreciated. The main insult was when the waiter just handed my card and receipt back without even looking at me or acknowledging my thank you and simply marched away. Like I said was a nice wee place and we were looking forward to trying it out we hadn't eaten since breakfast but won't be back. Appreciate the food removed from the bill but the waiters attitude (although not horrible outrightly was not acceptable."

"The restaurant was utterly vacant, with not a single customer in sight. One staff member was present, but they were not particularly helpful. We found that we couldn't order half of the items on the menu. It took us over 20 minutes to navigate the app and add food to our order. The atmosphere was dull and lifeless, with staff wandering around as if they didn't care. This experience completely spoiled what was meant to be a lovely wedding anniversary dinner. In the end, we decided to give up trying to order and left, as it would have been over an hour before we got to eat. While the prices seemed a bit steep, they might have been worth it had we felt welcomed, managed to place our order, and actually tried the food."

"To our surprise, I was asked to pay upfront even though we hadn’t received any food or drinks yet. I declined, opting to pay after our meal, a decision that proved wise. While we waited, a Just Eat delivery driver entered to pick up an order. He politely showed the manager his phone with the order number and requested that social distancing be maintained. Instead of cooperating, the manager shouted at him, refusing to hand over the food because he couldn’t see the phone clearly. He even told the driver to find another job and not to return. The manager then yelled across the restaurant for someone to handle the situation since he didn’t want to deal with the driver. A woman in a tracksuit eventually stepped in and handed the order to the driver while the manager continued to berate him for simply trying to do his job. After this disturbing encounter, the manager came to our table to justify his actions, claiming that if the driver needed to practice social distancing, he shouldn’t be a driver at all and that he had the right to check the driver’s phone. I disagreed, stating that the driver might have vulnerable family members and this job could be his only option. In an astonishingly inappropriate response, the manager exclaimed, “BUT I WAS HAPPY TO GO UP TO HIM AND HE COULD HAVE HAD AIDS!” I was taken aback and could hardly believe what I had just heard. He backpedaled slightly but continued insisting that the driver might be diseased. At that moment, our server returned to inform us that they had also run out of chili. In disbelief and disgust, we decided to leave. Overall, it was an appalling experience, completely marred by the ignorance of the staff. Would not recommend."

"Booked a table in advance, checked menu's online for dietary requirements. Arrived 19:00 to an empty restaurant with 2 chef's . Was taken to nice table, but then was told no gluten free options were available. I explained I had checked the menu online which differed to what he was telling me. Chef's shrugged there shoulders. I feel they prefer to supply the stream of delivery drivers than serving in house to clients. We will not be returning."

"**Gourmet Disappointment** I recently visited the Newport branch of Gourmet 4 for what was supposed to be a special anniversary meal on Saturday, October 9th. Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be quite the opposite. Upon arrival, we eagerly browsed the menu and decided to order the Bottomless Brunch, which we paid for with high hopes. After waiting for 40 minutes, a lone staff member—who was juggling the roles of waiter, bartender, manager, and receptionist—finally approached us. To our dismay, he informed us that he was unable to serve any alcoholic drinks because he didn’t drink himself and lacked the necessary training. Shockingly, he couldn’t even open a bottle of wine! To make matters worse, we learned that the Bottomless Brunch we had paid for was not actually available, and our request for a refund was denied. This left us completely stunned, especially since we had anticipated enjoying drinks and cocktails. In his defense, the overwhelmed staff member did allow us to go behind the bar and choose our drinks, as he was unsure how to handle the situation while also managing multiple takeaway orders. We ended up finding two bottles of sparkling wine, which we had to open ourselves since he didn’t know how. When the food finally arrived, it was mediocre fast food—not terrible, but certainly not worthy of the ‘gourmet’ label. Describing it as gourmet would be like calling Johnny Vegas beautiful. The presentation was lackluster, served without condiments or cutlery. After some time, we finally managed to find the staff member again, who sourced some cutlery for us but stated that condiments were unavailable. Personally, I find a dry, unsalted, un-ketchupped chip to be a culinary crime! For dessert, we ordered two cheesecakes and a brownie, but only received one cheesecake and one brownie. After waiting another 15 minutes and inquiring about the missing cheesecake, we were met with the less-than-helpful response from our overworked staff member: “Sorry, we’re…” Overall, this experience was far from what we had anticipated. If you are looking for a true gourmet experience, I would recommend seeking out another venue."

"My overall experience at the restaurant was quite disappointing. The mobile app was not user-friendly and lacked descriptions for the menu items, which made it challenging to make a choice. I ended up having to ask a waiter for physical menus. The service was also very slow; we ordered four drinks, but only two of them arrived. We had to approach the bar to inquire about the missing drinks, and only then were the others prepared. Additionally, I was informed that Coca-Cola was out of stock, so I had to choose a different beverage. This information should definitely be included in the app. The drinks were also overpriced. It seemed like the restaurant was understaffed, as the employees appeared stressed and overwhelmed, whether they were at the bar, on the floor, or in the kitchen. While the concept of having a food bar is appealing, it doesn’t make sense to operate with such minimal staff in one kitchen, especially when the menu is so extensive—it ultimately affects the quality of service."

"The food was surprisingly bad, and we had to wait over an hour while they prioritized takeout orders, with numerous Just Eat delivery drivers coming in and out. After an hour, we finally received our pizza and chips. My partner did get a free beer, but I wish we had left before the food arrived. The kebab was not made with the correct meat, but they exchanged it without charging us. The pizza had corn on it instead of pineapple, which they did swap out without a charge. In the end, all we had was cheesy chips, which were terrible. I do not recommend this place; it should only operate as a takeout if they’re going to give those orders priority."

Our dessert, a simple cookie, took 35 minutes to be served, even though there were no other tables occupied. No one apologized or offered any explanation for the delays. Our table wasn't cleared at all during our visit. Additionally, the manager was quite rude and appeared to be unsure of how to handle the situation."

"However, after placing our orders, we faced a long wait for our food. The pizza arrived 15 minutes before the rest of the meal, and we were not informed that the garlic bread was included. Eventually, three burgers were served, but after another 10 minutes, we had to inquire about my daughter's chicken burger. It turned out the chef had completely overlooked it in our order. The pizza remained untouched, as it was quite bland. I then requested a refund for the missing items, as my daughter didn’t want to wait any longer for her meal. To say the evening was disappointing would be an understatement. The manager eventually came over to apologize and offered a full refund, acknowledging that his staff were doing their best; however, it seemed that the focus on delivery orders took precedence over the dining experience for those present. It may be beneficial to have a cook who can manage both delivery and dine-in orders, ensuring that seated customers are not forgotten."
