"It was a sunny evening, so it was quite busy, especially outside. Yet there was only one member of staff to serve everyone. She was friendly but didn't know what she was doing. We had to wait very long for everything. Food didn't arrive at the same time. When she gave us our menus, she also handed us the set menu lunch menu, I asked if we could still order from that because it was after seven, she said it was all fine so we ordered from the set menu (normally we don't order a starter, but we assumed the portions would be smaller because the price was considerably less than the same dishes on the normal a la carte menu). Even though the main was supposed to come with a side, we forgot to order and we were never told to pick one. Once the food finally arrived (two dishes were exactly the same, but one came about 5-7 min later than the other) we couldn't bother asking for our sides because it would probably take another hour. We also decided not to order coffee or dessert because of the long wait. In the end my mum went inside to pay because no one seemed to be serving us anymore. When she showed me the receipt when we got home I was shocked to see that we were charged full price for every dish and not the set menu prices. We had very small portions and no sides. At this point I couldn't be bothered to go back or contact them about it, also because we felt bad for the waitress who had to everything on her own and was friendly. The location is great, but it's overpriced and bad service. I wouldn't go back unless this changes."

"A good venue for a decent meal and peaceful night 's sleep in a convenient location. Some niggles. Liked · The rooms were clean, nicely decorated and the beds were v.comfortable. Functional and clean bathrooms with heated/steam free mirrors always a nice touch. The bedroom anciliary double gazing worked well to significantly reduce the passing traffic noise to the front (since property is right on the A39 . The included breakfast was tasty. This is a friendly, cosy and clean Pub in an ideal location for both Truro and Falmouth (being roughly midway . We had the Sunday Carvery and thought that this was tasty and reasonable value for money. Although we did experience some issues, we would likely consider staying again. Our summary would be that it 's a good venue that has the potential to be great, with some further attention to basic details (like: functional bedroom heating more joined up bar service . Disliked · The in room heating (appeared to be wall mounted electric oil filled radiators could NOT be made to function in either of our rooms AT ALL giving the appearance of being past their best, with illegible small LED control panels for which there were no instructions supplied. This was faulted out to the staff on our first evening (of a 3 night stay and, although we were informed that the manager will come out tomorrow these were NEVER successfully remedied whilst we were there. We were provided with a small portable oil filled radiator, which served our purposes OK but suggest that, once frosts and 'proper ' Winter sets in, the inability to heat bedrooms effectively will very likely prove to be an issue for future guests(! Although the staff were generally very friendly, there was an occasion on one of the evenings, when a drinks/snack order was placed with the passing staff member and after a 10 mins plus wait (were thinking just how long does it take to pour 2x drinks and grab a bag of snacks? the same staff member was chased, only to receive the reply: The receipt machine is broken, so the order didn 't go through... SO... have a backup system, then maybe?!!! (possibly we 'd still be waiting? Another observation was that many of the staff appeared to be very young and had the air of being rather inexperienced... but then we guess that everyone has to learn somehow. Parking: Parking filled rapidly on Weekends so worth arriving a little early to secure a spot. Price per person: £100 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes: Roast Beef, Full English Breakfast, Moules Mariniere, Smoked Salmon and Eggs Benedict Parking space: Somewhat difficult to find parking"

"It was ok over all. The starters were superb, really good. The main courses were amazingly ordinary and disappointing. My steak was a medium rare fillet. It was accurately medium rare but strangely dry , almost as if it had been sitting under a heat lamp and it had very little flavour. I had a lemon meringue pie where meringue was wet and sloppy and the pastry was as if ready cooked from a supermarket. My companion had a slow cooked lamb shank which is usually an easy winner but again it was dry with a sauce which had been poured over it and then congealed. . A slow cooked lamb shank usually has the wonderful juices in which it has slowly come to fruition. The food came with minimal vegetables . Side dishes were ostentatiously expensive. As is the whole menu. We paid £180 for three people including the tip. Enough for a bargain weekend away somewhere. As a family we have dined in some amazing restaurants and understand the costs involved at times and pay willingly when the experience is special. But the whole way through this meal it was short of great. The waiters were friendly and attentive but far too eager to top up your wine glass. It became a nuisance and a pressure. Half a glass does not need topping up to the brim. To top things off for me I went to the ladies at 10.35 at the end of our meal . There is only one toilet for the whole restaurant. There was a cleaning person in the loo. spraying the most toxic and pungent fumes. Having entered this airless cubicle, two lungs full of Izal or what ever chemical obliterated all memory of the meal and the wine. At 10.35? The inference also being that I was not required on the premises any longer. The Maitr d' was charming and as friendly and helpful as he could be. 5 stars for him! The situation was lovely and we had a table by the window. However the experience did not in any measure add up to the lush advertisement online and was very very expensive at the price."

"I booked afternoon tea for as a gift for my mum for mother’s day. We arrived slightly early but the restaurant wasn’t busy so we were seated. The host who took us to the table did not tell us anything, just sat us down. We waited for about mins for a waitress to ask if we wanted water. We were then asked by separate members of staff if we had any dietary requirements. We then waited another minutes and another waitress came to take our order without us having received any menus. We ordered, we were told we could have tea, champagne or a cocktail. We waited, our drinks took another minutes to arrive, and came in separate parts. We were then told our menus were being printed, which seemed bizarre having ordered and being sat there so long. When the menus arrived it transpired you were able to order from a selection of teas, coffees and various cocktails. It also showed the dishes. There were a couple of things my dad didn’t like, which we asked to swap. I was told that maybe this would be ok, if we were quick, as the order had been rung through. It was at this point I reminded the waitress that we had been expected to order off a nonexistent menu, so what did they expect? The food came, it was ok but nothing special. The service was just terrible. There seemed to be no communication between the staff, no desire to make us feel welcome and no attention to detail. For something which was meant to be a treat, I was very disappointed and would not waste my money going again"

"GOOD FOOD TERRIBLE SERVICE I was looking for somewhere local to Wembley stadium. I had an overseas guest visiting who had tickets to a Wembley event. There were only 4 tables seated when we arrived. I had to ask could we order after 20 minutes of waiting. Whilst we were waiting for our starters another table (6 guests) were seated, orders taken and served. I chased our order. It took a total hour for our starters to arrive. Thankfully they were worth waiting for. Fresh crisp calamari, although unfortunately I was also given lemon mayonnaise despite advising I could not have any citrus. The cheesy garlic bread was also delicious. Very large portion, but you can imagine we were pretty hungry by this point. Meanwhile 2 other tables (2 guests and 10 guests) arrived and were served. I again chased our order. The table of 6 that arrived after us were served, had eaten and left before our main course arrived. The table of 2 and 10 also had their mains before us. By now were were running short of time and asked that our main course be brought as soon as possible, and not wait until we had finished our starters. That didn't happen. We had to ask again. The spaghetti bolognese was delicious, and would have been perfect with a sprinkling of parmesan, which we weren't offered. The lamb shank was not the best that I have had. The potatoes with which it was served were a little too watery, not the soft peaks that I was expecting. Although I had not been to Gusto before, the review online was positive, whilst warning about the slow service, which is why I allowed 2 hours. It took 2 1/2 hours, and that was with my questioning. It would have been far worse had I not done so. I can't imagine how bad it would be on a busy night. Perhaps that is why it was quiet on a Saturday night. When we went in I was impressed and hoped that I had found a new restaurant to regularly visit. Sadly it was my first and will be my last visit."
