"I was only in Colchester for one night and stumbled upon this charming pub with friendly staff and customers. I planned on just grabbing a quick bite to eat but ended up staying until closing time. It's a fantastic local pub and definitely worth a visit."

A proper pub with great ales, friendly atmosphere and some brilliant food too. Regularly attend here midweek with a few friends and love it every time I do. View menu

Really lovely place with friendly staff. The food was really nice, it was actually home cooked as opposed to just brought-in stuff that has been reheated. Will for sure be coming back.

A wonderful place, quiet, stop and relax as much as possible... Lunch: very tasty soup and bread, as well as a baked potato with extras... but when I asked for an extra roll, unfortunately they were like stones

"We came here on a last minute hunt to find a Sunday roast with family without much expectations. However when entering its a lovely set up and we were greeted by Lee and Alison who looked after us for the meal who just to begin were absolutely brilliant, they really care about the customers and make this place extra special. Now for the food you can get a 2 or 3 course meal so everybody made various selections but all had starters. Most went for the Aarancina which isn't your usual starter with a Sunday roast but for here it packs alot of flavour and is a great way to start the meal. They have a great selection of alcoholic beverages I went for a simple beer. For the main roasts we had a variety of meats I wanted the pork but sadly they had no crackling which was half the reason for ordering but if I am being honest after eating the meal it wasn't missed out the meat was tasty full of flavour but the sides were the key. The roast potatoes were of a top level usually when you eat out they are never as good as eating at home, the Yorkshire were huge and tasty, gravy brilliant with plenty to go around and lots of veg and cauliflower cheese on the side. Honestly this was excellent a really good roast probably the best I have ever ate in a resteraunt. Some of the others had the lamb shank which was huge and had great feedback but the beef was great and so was everything else. So yes check it out eat in and eat some great food in a nice setting with absolutely brilliant service you won't be disappointed."
