"(Now Cardamom Bay) Nipped in early Sunday evening to collect a takeaway. The place was empty, apart from staff. Collected a chicken rezala, pilau rice and plain naan. The rice was quite nice, the curry average, but ok. Bit greasy, but passable. Though for the cost of the takeaway £16, I expected something much better. Then we come to the naan if I can call it that. Usually light un colour, fluffy with just the right dark areas that are slightly crispy with a slight hint of sweetness. And usually teardrop shaped. This was none of these. It was circular, grey in colour and soggy and spongey. Yes, unbelivable, I felt I needed to wring it out it was so limp and water/oil laden. It looked totally unappealing and just tasted of nothing nice. I suspect that because they were so quiet and it was early, they hadn 't bothered to fire up the tandoor oven, as this 'naan ' had never been near one. Heaven only knows how they made it, but they managed to make something so simple and normally delicious turn out so bad I only eat a small part to see if it tasted as bad as it looked: and it did. The rest in the bin. I expected there might have been the odd table taken and people in and out for takeaways but it was quiet, poss because people won 't pay top dollar for sub standard food, made by amateurs. My visit was the first in quite a few years, since it used to be Lal Jomi. But I thought I would give it a try. Will be many many years before I return here if ever."

"This restaurant is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in Glasgow. I have no complaints about this place at all. I have been a regular here for quite some time now."

"gurkha village is a long restaurant near oxford. the employees are very respectful and attentive to the needs. the service time was very good. while the food was not really typical nepali, as the Nepalese nutrition in the usually consists only of a meal dhal lenses) bhat reis) takari cured vegetables. However, the meal times are generally very good and are quite large in portions. most of our meal times were a good quality except the Nan-Brot. I think the management could introduce some new meal times to the menu and have specials on a blackboard somewhere daily. Otherwise, it is one of the few Indian restaurants in the opposite of oxford that are worth visiting."

"Despite its unassuming appearance, the value and flavor of the meal we had at this restaurant was exceptional! The portion sizes were generous as my companion and I ordered a lot of food."

"we went in there yesterday to get us. the world cup was on her telly and when the waiters went out of the kitchen, they glistened on the screen. we ordered 2 lamm curries, 2 pilaureis with extras. Once we are inside, the entire content of the paper fell back to the floor and to supplement injuries while we clean up the chaos, we noticed that they forget to add the pilaureis. I think that if they were more time in ensuring that eating was properly packed and the right menu was given to customers and less time to watch the foot on the message, they would lead to a more efficient business. that won't go back in there."

"Great food and very accommodating with choice . Restaurant wasn't full but was quite busy as it was a saturday night. Kept waiting for quite a while before drinks came and also a long wait to take order. Wasnt asked if we wanted more drinks and was hard to get a waiter to acknowledge us or come back once we asked a question. However this doesn't normally happen and will always go back."

"The restaurant was full inside, but they were happy to seat us outside. We were greeted promptly and given menus right away. The staff quickly came to take our drink order as we looked over the menu. Everyone was very friendly and efficient, and our food arrived without much delay. We all loved our cooked breakfast and wouldn't consider going anywhere else."

"Well done Kingston. You now have an avant-garde restaurant to sit alongside your artisan coffee shops. I had my meal being oblivious to the terms use which annoyed me later. I would have taken pictures. Clearly they are not going into battle first so I must have missed advancing art at play. Maybe the cutlery was a little to the left? Does adding on a prentitious title to the restaurant name make the food better? And why french? The main had a take away feel to it. It was heavy and bland. Very very bland. The sauce had decided it was actually a soup. The texture of the chicken was unusual. Despite being hungry I found half was enough and fell back onto the breads which seemed ok. Service lacked any warmth whatsoever. As I see another reviewer pointing out, I ate in an empty restaurant and felt a bit unwelcome. It was a very quick meal for that reason. Not sure the huge shop front windows with every passing bus staring in at me helped. Maybe Kingston isn 't quite ready for avant-garde just yet? Nor am I."

"My wife and I visited this restaurant this evening. It was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday night, does that say something? Despite this, we waited a long time for our food and drinks order to be taken, we almost left, I wish we had... The food when it came. was tasty and quite good, although my lamb dish was rather sloppy. However, the real worry was when I took a trip to the gents toilets to find that the only toilet was in a disgusting state with a broken toilet seat lying on the floor. To make matters even worse, the equally disgusting wash basin had no water coming out of it at all, so it was a real worry. If that’s the state of the toilet, what’s the kitchen like, uggh.... I hope we don’t have any consequences health wise and I’m afraid we won’t be returning to this restaurant."

"During our three-night stay in Newcastle, we decided to explore three different restaurants, one of which was Indian cuisine. Valley Junction came highly recommended, and we were thrilled to take a short, three-stop journey on the Metro, which was easy to navigate. Once we arrived, we were greeted with delicious food and a lovely ambiance. The menu was extensive yet easy to understand. The restaurant is uniquely located in an old signal box and a vintage railway carriage, right next to a former railway line—such a clever concept!"

"Overall comments: This place was part of our Anonymous dinner rota. We were quite happy during eating and on the day, but the next few days were rough as 3/4 of us were ill. I wouldn’t go again even though the food tasted nice. Go at your own risk as it is good value for money if you can stomach food made in an unclean environment. My order was as follows: Starter(s): Veg Samosa, Hara Kebab, Aloo Tikki Chaat, Chicken Tikka, Side(s): Plain Naan. Food: All the dishes were good and I thought we found a gem. However, 3 of the 4 of us were ill for a few days after. Atmosphere: Music was at a varying loudness. The Seating was not comfy at all. The interior was decent but nothing special. Service: Service was poor. We had to ask for water multiple times and the waiter assigned to our table just didn’t want to listen to us when we asked for things or tried to get his attention. The other waiter was very good when we asked him for assistance. The food arrived at a good speed to the table. Cost: Mid-range and only worth it if your stomach can handle food made in a bad environment."

"First time visit, the staff were very accommodating as 2 people in our family are disabled and needed a space big enough for wheelchair access. The food was delicious. Everybody enjoyed their meal. The staff were friendly and provided a great service. The restaurant was very busy for a Thursday evening which is always a good sign. I would definitely recommend the fish tikka sizzling dish, my mum does not like spicy food but commented on how delicious it was. Prices a little more expensive than other Indian restaurants we have eaten at but the food was good quality, will be certain to visit again."

"Slow service, some waiters have rather serious demeanour, perhaps under stress! Manager tried to compensate but this will never work, need to keep unhappy staff hidden from customers! Food wise some good- Salmon starter, some poor- poorly marinated large pieces of chicken. Mains average."
