"I visited Umami with my partner and daugher in june 2024. The atmosphere was terrible and uncomfortable. The management treatment of staff was appalling, we observed verbal abuse towards waiters, who appeared terrified. Our table was surrounded by 2 waiters for the entire evening, making us feel uncomfortable. The food was was bland, with one dish, the paneer overly sweet, we couldn't eat it. I'm an Indian women and know how indian food should taste like. What they served at Umami was tastless and not quality food. Don't bother asking for a cocktail, because they don't know how to make them. My daughter had previously eaten there and had a the same experience, but we thought that might have been a one off incident, clearly not. I will never eat there again and will tell everyone to avoid going there, because how there treat they staff, like dirt and the standard of the food was not that great. Over priced for poir food. I'll say away and go somewhere else.x I"

"Visited as a family of four for the first time and must say we were not disappointed. The food was excellent. of us had the course lunch menu which was extremely good value with no compromise on presentation or taste. My husband had the steak which he said was one of the best he’s ever had.The staff were very friendly and attentive. "We were given this as a Christmas gift from sister. Very friendly staff greeting. Service very prompt. Food good,not as hot as it could be. Although described as a "traditional "roast it 's not, as the meats are not from a roasted joint. However, the meat , whatever method it was cooked was very good! Puddings delicious especially the ice-cream, which the waitress said was the chef 's own made!"

"I was extremely disappointed when the food arrived after 1hour of waiting. Ordered two molten chocolate brownies expecting them to be warm gooey and covered in hot chocolate. Haha no, that’s not what was delivered. We got two freezer stored cold cakes with chocolate on top in a plastic case. Also ordered thunder and lightning ice cream, but instead was delivered death by chocolate, so I rang up to explain they had delivered the wrong flavour to be told they had no thunder and lightning in stock so they just switched it without consulting me first. When I said that I don’t want to chocolate one I could hear them in the background trying to tell me that it’s the same thing when it obviously isn’t! While on the phone I asked if the molten brownies are meant to be cold to be made aware that they are stored in a freezer and sent out cold. As a desert place I expected freshly made food especially for the price!! Also after debating with the guy on the phone that the ice creams are not the same he offered to refund me via bank transfer in which the refund is still not appearing to have been made! Would not recommend. Disappointed! Also why does delivery take 1 hour when it’s literally just frozen **** put in a bag and placed at your front door"

"We went to this restaurant today with my in-laws to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary. The food was fantastic. I had crab tagliatini to die for, my father in law had a mussels starter that was great, and the homemade tiramisus are still, to my taste THE BEST I HAVE EVER TASTED ANYWHERE. The wine was smooth and great. Altogether a totally fantastic meal. The staff were also very helpful, friendly and attentive. A great way to spend our wedding anniversary. Thank you so very much."

"It 's my first time in my life that I leave a review. I won 't leave them because I worked in restaurants for 20 years between Italy and London. But this time I necessarily have to do it because this restaurant claims to be an Italian restaurant but in reality it is not like that. 1) I ate a good pizza but very far from Italian pizza. 2) I asked for a dessert tiramisu and on the minus it was written that it was made with zabbaglione but it wasn 't like that. It was made with cooking cream with mascarpone. In addition, I asked the staff if I could speak to the chef who had told me in advance that he was Italian but in reality he was not. This is really sad because if there is something written on the menu you have to respect it! And don 't make fun of people.. The ending if you want to see an Italian place with a nice selection of music then this is the right place.. But don 't expect Italian cuisine because it 's not like that (as I said before the pizza was good but very far from Italian pizza) I will be back in a few months to try the tiramisu again and hope it is as described on the menu."

"The Çiğ Köfte (lamb tartare) had a nice balance of spices, but it was not kneaded enough and lacked the chili kick I prefer. Presenting it as tartare felt inappropriate; it should adhere more closely to the traditional style. On the other hand, the kibbeh was outstanding, with a well-balanced combination of tahini cream, dough, and meat, even though the £18 price tag is steep. The hummus was average, although the addition of dates did enhance its flavor. Instead of using paprika oil, I would suggest opting for a high-quality olive oil that is less smoky. The minced kebab (Adana) was disappointing and did not resemble an authentic Adana kebab. It was missing the necessary tail fat and spices, resulting in a köfte that was poorly balanced between grill and fire. Additionally, the burnt lavash overshadowed the flavor of the lamb. Increasing the fat content and using unburnt lavash would significantly improve the dish. The Tablaci salad strayed from tradition, featuring too much tomato and insufficient parsley, with cuts that were not in line with customary preparation. However, the pomegranate sauce was excellent, though a salad centered around parsley, onion, and sumac would be more appealing. In summary, while the restaurant offers a pleasant atmosphere for drinks and average Turkish starters, the grill-based kebabs did not meet my expectations and I would not recommend them."

"Lovely location, and good weather enabled everyone to sit outside on the sunny terrace. The staff were friendly and welcoming and provided good service, but the food was disappointing. Some sandwiches were dry, tasted as though they'd been made the day before. The waiter replaced it promptly with another dry sandwich. The desserts were small taster size portions (which was fine) but did not appear freshly made. The cream tea part of the menu was nice, but again a very small scone. The gluten free option was preferred over the regular afternoon tea by our group."

"This restaurant is amazing! The negative reviews are clearly from competitors trying to bring them down. We visited on Saturday, December 16th for our work night out. We were greeted by a very friendly waitress who seated us and explained the menu. Our drinks arrived quickly and the food at the hot bar and salad bar was fantastic. We had a member in our group with Coeliac disease and the waitress was knowledgeable and accommodating. The only issue was the off Stella lager, but it was quickly resolved with an apology. We tried 12 out of the 14 meats on the menu, all of which were served to us with pineapple. The waiters were friendly and the meat was cooked perfectly to order. Everyone in my party loved the meal and the restaurant. Compared to others in the area, Copacabana is reasonably priced. The drinks were also affordable. We had a great time and I would definitely recommend it to others. Thank you to the staff for a wonderful experience!"

"Situated in a almost passable street in Crystal Palace, fronted by a humble restaurant sign, is this little Turkish restaurant. At least, it looks little from the outside. Walk in, and you 're presented with a rather large venue, with seating for many patrons. There is no maître d ' or equivalent to check our booking or offer us seating. It took a few minutes of trying get someone 's attention to even get noticed, another five minutes or so for a table to be setup, and once seated and given menus, it took over 15 minutes to order some drinks. I believe this service issue is an exception as it was Father 's day, and the restaurant was exceptionally busy, therefore the serving staff were stretched. I suspect a normal day would be better. I didn 't expect much at this stage, however, this venue turned out to be a hidden gem! Forget location, ambience or service. If your goal is to try some incredible Turkish food, this is the place to go! My mum and dad love Turkish food, and we 're no strangers to it. Although all Turkish restaurants tend to have a very similar menu, each has it 's own variation on their standard recipes. This is where Dem stands out from the crowd, the bread was seasoned with a unique blend of spices (I suspect paprika and celery salt?? , and similarly, the meats were seasoned and flavoursome. There won 't be enough bread served for the meze, so you will need to order more. Also, the salad and bread that gets delivered to the table when you sit down is all you 'll be given with your entire mains (which are served simply as meat and rice . So don 't over do it and finish these off before your mains arrive! I do recommend this restaurant for the food look forward to going there on a non-special occasion so that I may experience it in a fairer setting for the service staff."

"Found out that under new ownership since October 2023, so recommendations to me were based on friends experience with previous owners. The manager was friendly and very attentive, asking lots of questions, explaining their menu when asked, telling me that the interior will be changed in the near future. Anyway, for starters we chose Calamari, Garlic Mushrooms with Cheese, King Prawns, and Halluomi. We then all helped ourselves to bits and pieces of each. The starters were plentiful in portion size, with all choices being great, especially the garlic mushrooms with cheese. For mains we chose a mixed grill, chicken shish, lamb ribs, and chicken wings and chips for my daughter. The chicken and lamb shish were both tender and full of flavour, and the lamb ribs were great. They all came with slad and bulgur (I can only describe it as a cross between rice and cous-cous).The mixed grill was plentiful in size and looked appetising, but my father in law enjoyed that all to himself , so I can only assume it was good. My daughter enjoyed her chicken wings too We were given bread on the table, which was warm and full of flavour too. We were definitely made to feel welcome, and will definitely return. Good to know that they deliver too. We were at the restaurant early (5pm booking), so were the only people in the restaurant, however, there was a constant stream of delivery drivers collecting orders for delivery. It was my daughters birthday the following day, so tye manager gave her a small dessert on the house as well. Parking: A few parking spaces on the street just a couple of doors down from the restaurant , where you use the RingGo App or good old cash to pay for parking."

"Terrible experience. Restaurant was short staffed and therefore waiting time was nearly 45mins without any communication. What little food we did have however, was very nice, bar the Fusca, which was probably the worst I’d had. Such a shame really. We were offered the dessert menu, 20 minutes after we’d been left waiting for the remaining food. The waiter was pleasant, and I actually felt sorry for him. But nonetheless, our food order had been forgotten, and we had hardly eaten anything. He was clearly under pressure and this is purely down to poor management, and the owners prioritising external events they were catering for on this particular Saturday evening ; the restaurant itself clearly wasn’t of any importance. Had to make a last minute reservation at an alternative restaurant; elderly and disabled mother was struggling and two children with me were tired and starving. Wasted journey."

"We decided to try this little restaurant for our wedding anniversary because of the good reviews and the limitation of where we could celebrate because of the covid restrictions. The restaurant is of a bistro style with small tables and a lovely ambience, The...Argentinian steaks were really lovely and so tender, cooked to perfection. The home cooked chips were delicious and went perfectly. As we were the first customers of the evening they were able to cook chips that were gluten free, if we had booked later in the evening they would not have been able to provide gluten free chips as they use the fryer for non gluten free food, which is a shame. So be warned if you are gluten free because there is nothing worse than going to a restaurant and have to eat salad or if you are very lucky a jacket potato as the gluten free alternative! The men on the next table thought the wine menu was very expensive, but there were plenty of other drinks on offer for those on a more affordable budget but this is not a budget"

"Saturday morning, called in for a desi breakfast. Uncharacteristically slow and chaotic service today. They just need some more staff to help them keep on top of the orders. Long delays, incorrect orders, stressed staff doing their best. I felt really sorry for them. The food was nice as usual , but the owners need to invest in having more staff. It is a popular place. "We all had a wonderful dining experience at Hasturk. There was a wide variety of appetizers, main courses, desserts, and beverages to choose from. The service provided by the staff was excellent as well. This was our first visit, but it certainly won’t be our last.
