"this evening we were in the opposite for a late night film and decided to meet a nearby place for a place of dinner. troia appeared in the search with a winning combination of positive reviews and low trips and so it was. troia is located in south bank and offers casual medium seas, is a step upward from the usual chain / tourist eating. we ordered the london set meze 13 p/p), which gave us a cornea of many of their tasty. we were woven by the sheer amount of food, and almost not expected two rounds of food. eleven different dishes made for a crowded table: hummus, casseroles, cooks, dives, falafels; we certainly didn't leave a starving. service was on the side slow(s)...read more"

"we visited here on recommendation of a good friend, we booked a table in advance. we chose the plate, wasn't disappointed at all, much too much for both of us, but eating was really nicely cooked, all aromen complicated with each other. it was a bit tight in the restaraunt, a bit close to the next table. the food went quickly cold, but I put it down to be next to the entrance when the door was running. the beer was £3.95 a bottle, although very nice it was served in 330ml bottles, which became expensive after a few. I wish they would make a design! great restaraunt, great eating good service."

"The menu was unique with items like grilled octopus, vegetable skewers, marinated artichoke hearts, and grilled oyster mushrooms. The building is definitely a British pub, but the food choices were not typical pub food. Wine list was small but adequate. My partner found a good local IPA on the beer list. Staff was attentive and cordial. Small outdoor dining area. Highly recommend"

"Pleasant welcome to this quiet(Sunday lunch) friendly feeling place. Food was excellent although very typical, hoummos beiruty and taouk particularly tasty. Quite extensive Lebanese and other wines, possibly a little on pricey side. Musar Jeune a good red pick. Nice to patronise an owner-restaurant instead of the famous London Lebanese where service seems to becoming mechanical and a bit snooty. Recommended"

"service was exceptionally good and we were made very welcome as soon as we walked in. Food was to a good standard. Helpings erred on the generous side. enjoyed sardines with salad as starter followed by liver and mash in the italian style. Greens beans...on the side. Tried a few chips but a bit limp. had boottle of montepulciano d’abruzzo which was good and glass of calvados, also good.Waitess was Eva from Albania who was most attentive and helpful and friendly. could have done without the flashing fairy lights over the windows but that is just me."

"The food is amazing that I was in Turkey before and I tell you her food is still the best I ever had! The meeting is well marinated and the meat is so tender and juicy. The sauce is amazing! The waiter is also very nice, even the cook brings you with warm smiles. I will definitely visit again in the near future. Love it. Thanks for the great food."

"If you like middle-eastern food, this is the place for you. Main dishes are good, but I recommend ordering several small dishes instead, its so much more fun. The selection of both hot and cold mezza (small dishes) is enormous. Feast on dishes such as Moutabel Baba Ghanouj (Baba Ghanoul witth grilled eggplant pureed in), Tabouleh (that faboulous salad with a parsley base), Hommos Bazenjan Al-Rahib (Eggplant with tomato, onion, mint parsley). All on the cold Mezza menu and all around £5. And/or go for the hot Mezza with wonderful grilled Halloumi, Falafel, Batata Harra (fried potatos vegetables), Jawaneh (grilled wings with the most incredible Med garlic aoli) and Soujok (a spicy sausage). Each dish between £6-7. Then there is the “Lebanese Pastry” selection, from £4-6, with the most incredible Lebanese “pies”: spinach onion, lamb pine nuts, Halloumi, etc. Shawarmas are £5-6. Vegetarians and non alike will be in heaven. The fresh juices are great too. Everything is incredibly fresh and delicious, service is relaxed and friendly and the room is serene and beautiful. Enjoy."

"Unfortunately, this 1-star review is based on the fact that we didn't actually get to try the food. Booked online for lunch time and received confirmation email. Turned up a bit before booking time but after restaurant was supposed to be open. It wasn't. Door was closed and locked (there was a confused looking delivery driver waiting outside too who eventually gave up and left). While waiting, several apparent staff members turned up and had to bang on a side door to be let in, all pointedly not acknowledging our presence waiting outside the main door. Booking time arrived. Still closed and locked (and looking through window they didn't look like they were close to opening). Tried knocking. No answer. Tried phoning. No answer. Not even to apologise for running late. Booking time came and went. We gave up and left. If the website allows a time to be booked, and I book a specific time then I expect the restaurant to BE OPEN AND READY BY THAT TIME. And since this cost a long train ride into London, its not something I will risk again."

"Having lived in London 33 years, I knew this restaurant existed, always wanted to visit, now I regret not coming sooner. There are thousands of trendy, go to places in this city, most are all style over substance. This place gives a you a warm Cypriot/Greek hug, rarely found these days. No frills or fanciness, they know what they are doing and do it well. It is like stepping back in time but that is not a bad thing. It makes you feel like and old friend you met in a taverna in Ayia Napa. The food is as Greek/Cypriot as you can get. Generous, well cooked and delicious. The Dolmades are divine but the Kleftiko is the star, a very slow cooked large piece of lamb cooked till it completely falls off the bone.Rice is cooked in stock with tiny slivers of pasta. To be honest it is all of a very high standard. The prices are extremely reasonable. This is not art on a plate. You will need a hefty appetite, leaving full, satisfied with a warm glow, The music will stay in your head and adds to the atmosphere. I brought a friend for his birthday on Thursday lunch, decided to return yesterday with another friend, both loved it.The staff are welcoming, lovely and a joy. This place is just what it says on the tin. If any one criticizes they have never eaten great food in a Greek/Cypriot restaurant before.."

"I have visited over 15 Greek restaurants in London, and Karavas definitely ranks in my top two. One of the standout features is the generous portion size of the meat meze, which is priced at £19."

"This restaurant is my absolute favorite. I have dined here more than 5 times and have never had a negative experience. The flavors left my taste buds thrilled and the cozy atmosphere and outstanding service made for a truly unforgettable dining experience. Plus, there was even belly dancing to enjoy!"

"Probably not after this recent visit. The whole place was very cold. It wasn’t enjoyable to have the meal when it was so cold around. I get that it was very cold out last week but still. I feel like my meal wasn’t as good this time, compared to how wowed I was on my last visit in the summer. Mine was more like warm than hot. All though my dad ordered the same and his was served piping hot. Would still come and eat here again but was disappointed after this visit on Wednesday."

"I ordered takeaway here for the 1st time was “stupidly” unaware of what the various sauces were called. The man serving was not helpful arrogantly questioned what language I was speaking as I didn’t know the correct sauce names (I am English btw! . I said my partner was French but I was clearly English and speaking it so didn’t understand why he asked that! As we waited for the food outside, he thought I was out of earshot and shouted “learn to speak English”. I went back to challenge him on this disgusting comment and he seemed surprised I had heard and then tried to blag he was making a joke! He was NOT! Just because I’m not upto speed on the official names of his precious sauces, it does not make it acceptable to be so rudely insulted or at least make sure they definitely can’t hear you! Safe to say we won’t be going back. Oh and the food was ****!"

"There was a great delay to have the first starters, but then everything goes smoothly. The food was delicious and the quantities were good. Unfortunately, Desserts were not handmade and the tasty in this case were not as expected... we were in New Year's Eve (new year eve) and the prices were really high. For the amount and quality of meal, too much (45 pounds per person)."

"The Olive Tree Brasserie in Lytham St. Annes, Lancashire is a wonderful discovery. Although there is outdoor seating, we chose to sit inside due to the dark, cold, and wet weather. The restaurant is small and intimate, with a lively atmosphere. The food is presented with flair and is absolutely delicious. The service was excellent. Whether you are a local or just visiting the area, be sure to make a reservation at The Olive Tree Brasserie."

"Open late! Never fails me for a great end-of-the-night kebab. Have not ventured much beyond this and the hummus/other dips/tabouleh/halloumi which is all standard fare for this chain, but of those things none are ever a let down and the portions are extremely generous. Great juice as well, always friendly staff and wickedly tangy garlic sauce. The menu is actually quite substantial and they have a number of dishes which you don't see in every Lebanese establishment. Have yet to try, but they sound tempting."

"I recently had a satisfying meal at Mem and Laz. The chicken breast was juicy and the chili sauce had a nice kick to it. I opted for the bread and butter pudding for dessert, but found it to be disappointing - dry and lacking in flavor even with the custard. Despite this, I enjoyed my overall dining experience. Please note that a service charge is included in the bill. Unfortunately, my return visit was less than satisfactory. I ordered Mediterranean vegetables but received mainly eggplant, courgettes, and onions. The eggplant had an odd rubbery texture and was difficult to cut with a knife, indicating it may not have been freshly prepared. Additionally, I noticed an increase in prices since my previous visit."

"My wife ordered and loved her falafel burger with chips. I ordered the Tofish and Chips. I was impressed by the batter on the fake fish but that was only because of the look and texture. The inside was really just plain tofu, and the whole thing did not taste like anything. No marinade on the tofu, no seasoning, nothing. Also, the tartar sauce didn't taste like tartar sauce. No bite or edge to it. The best part of my meal was the peas, which were delightful. The biggest issue with this place, and the reason I'd never return or recommend it, is the owner's incessant commentary, including calling my wife madam a couple dozen times in about forty-five minutes. I know that's just him being polite but because he interrupted our meal so many times, it just became grating. Finally, when I stood up to leave, the owner asked me what the rush was, then said to my wife, Don't worry, madam, I'll take you home Are you serious? That is simply not cool. So, even if I loved the food, I would warn everyone against this overbearing, disrespectful owner. I'd especially suggest avoiding this place if you are a single woman, like the previous reviewer.
