"If you want something a little different this is worth a visit. There is an outdoor terrace if the weather allows or an interior that is a bit somber for a lunchtime. The menu is quite innovative with a range of sizes from small plates to larger portions. and prices are competitive. Order at the bar quoting your table number and the food will be brought promptly. There’s a container of chilled water on the bar for self service and on the day of our visit the staff were donating their tips and selling cakes in support of the Macmillan big coffee morning."

"beautiful selection of design, great location to meet folk, but location influences the pricing and I should probably not spend so much time at the bar and meet the load."

"Having passed this place many times, I called in for a meal last night. What a gem !. Ordered a pint of Taylors Best Mary Jane and others also available). Was shown to a table, and ordered to start 'Confit duck and peanut spring rolls with a plum chutney ' £6.95) followed by one of their fish specials form the blackboard 'Salmon and Sea Bass fillets with asparagus and bearnaise sauce ' one of the more expensive options at £16.95). Waitress came with bread, two nice thick pieces of rustic bread, one white one brown, and both butter and the olive oil /balsamic vinegar. Whe the spring rolls came , there were four, rather over the top, as for a starter two would have been sufficient, and with a pile of crisp salad and the plum dressing as well. Delicious, I had no problem eating all four. The fish main was also a delight, two small fillets each of sea bass and salmon, with a couple of asparagus spears, and some bearnaise sauce in a pot. A side dish of carrots and broccoli also presented. Thoroughly enjoyable. Bill £26.95. It was as I was paying that I realised that the Wheatley was also residential. Readers of my reviews will know I stay in the area two nights nearly every week Mainly at Chevin Country Park Hotel Otley, or Rombalds in Ilkley or occasionally Harrgate or Knaresborough, see my reviews of these hotels) However when I asked about room rates, £80 B B for a single to me is too much for what is essentially a pub. I pay £70 at the Chevin) I am sure the rooms will be clean and well appointed, but I would have expcted them to be maybe £60-65 for a single. I am awarding 5 stars for the meal, but I suspect that had I stayed there, maybe only 4 stars as a hotel because of the price. Within the last few weeks I now found and reviewed three pubs in the area with really good food., the other two being the The Black Horse at Askwith and the Fox at Menston. I now have a quandary which to go back to !"

"Very good range, filling a complete vegan menu, not just vegan junk food but more whole food healthy options too. Food is tasty and good portions. Very relaxed and cosy vibe, staff are very friendly. Perfect date night restaurant for a vegan and non vegan couple. Only downside is a good wait is a given in this restaurant."

"yesterday we had one of the worst experiences in a restaurant. I was in the hospital and on the way to home made a reservation about the phone. Once we entered, we were accompanied on our table and given menus. 5 minutes after we had set ourselves, the very rude waitress (possibly South African) marched on our table and announced before the whole restaurant that we did not wear the right clothes and therefore had to leave clothes or change because they could not serve us. I am perfect with restaurants with a dress code (although they are in the rule in mayfair not knowle high st.) which I did not like was that this was not imparted to us on more discreet wise. it was very embarrassing, and we were made to feel like we were among them. we live in hampton in Arden, not a million miles away. yes, we were under dressed, but it was a Sunday afternoon afternoon, morning. If the waitress had been kind enough to talk with something decor, she would have realized that we had just arrived from the sick house and celebrated my good health, which explains the pension. I will not come back. I never felt so humiliated in my whole life."

"The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere and the service was friendly but the food was just okay. I ordered a sandwich and salad combo and while it was filling, it wasn't anything special. The prices were reasonable but I expected more considering the positive reviews I had read. Overall, it's a decent place for a quick bite to eat but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back."

"A truly gluten free Italian restaurant in the heart of London seems too good to miss, and it was. Absolutely everything on the menu is gluten free, so there is no risk of cross contamination, and there is real depth of understanding of vegan and dairy free needs as well. It is a family run business and there is great sense of rapport amongst the staff, which spreads to their understanding of customer needs. Food is delicious, and served quickly (we had a vegan salad, canollini and ravioli all excellent) with quirky, healthy drinks (gluten free beer is also available, of course) and a superlative chocolate brownie to finish. Service is quick and efficient yet warm. It is a small cafe sized restaurant, so booking absolutely essential in the hour we were there they turned away at least ten potential groups because of lack of space. They could use twice the space, given the demand I saw. It is not suitable for customers with a severe nut allergy as they use a lot of nuts in their recipes. The only reason I hesitate to share a good review of this great find is that I want to be sure of a table next time!"

"Our meal took an hour to arrive. I ordered a curry and my husband a mixed grill costing £25. When I asked the reason for the delay I was met with an aggressive attitude from the barmaid saying that everything is freshly prepared hence the delay and no sign of an apology. I did wonder how it took 1 hour to cook a mixed grill which was over-cooked and dry and a Chicken Tikka Masala which was a weird mix of fruit and again dry chicken. I would have sent it back but was ravenous and didn’t want to face the wrath of the barmaid. If we didn’t go to the quiz every month I wouldn’t be going back to the Fox unfortunately as it is a lovely old pub."

"I would give this a miss if you are eating anything other than pizzas and even then there is a better place around the corner (Red Hot Mamma). So great it now has three branches in Warwickshire. We went to try some of their other menu items. My son and I had one of their chicken burgers and my partner tried a waffle. The chicken burgers were lukewarm and frankly did not look anything like the Instagram photos. They didn’t taste too great either. This place really does catfish you when it comes to their food. It all looks good on their social media but the reality is different. We also ordered some dirty fries and they were just cold and quite flavourless and honestly quite disgusting. The execution of this food was just lazy and uncaring. An example of a catering team that are having to do too much so they do none of it well anymore! My partners waffle was rock hard which suggested it had been pre-cooked and warmed up. Not to mention the fact you only get half a waffle! The place seems understaffed and a little grubby with dirty tables the norm. I shall not be returning as it truly is a mediocre eating experience. It did used to sell great albeit overpriced pizza but it truly has declined in quality. I think in expanding it’s menu and space it has lost it’s identity. It wants to be all thIngs to all people, a cafe, a bar, a pizzeria, a burger joint and it does not hit the mark on any of them! Just give it a miss, walk on. There are better places to eat this type of cuisine in Warwick and Warwickshire!"

"Went for brunch with my ex-girlfriend to see if we could rekindle our physically abusive relationship and we both ordered an all day breakfast which came highly recommended by a friend who 's actually a head chef in there. Moving on, we ordered two fresh apple juices which were mixed with tequila for no reason by a chap who i can only describe as a flamboyant young man, who seemed more interested in trying to get everyone drunk on a Tuesday afternoon. We let this slide as he was a well mannered, funny young lad, who tried to make our time enjoyable but swiftly after our breakfasts arrived, all seemed well until I bit into my sausage it chipped my tooth and it felt like i was chewing Tyson Fury 's fist, my ex girlfriend ordered brown bread because she was on a diet and they gave us chocolate croissants instead and were trying to justify it by pronouncing it in a french accent. (i did think this was funny). The rest of the breakfast can only be described as being made by people who were severely dehydrated and hungover. The portion size was small and the price was expensive (luckily Natwest is across the road). In conclusion the place is great for a laugh and a joke , the staff are friendly and extremely helpful for the right price but I shall not be returning for food."

"We use to come here years ago and loved the place. I’m not sure what has happened but I was not overly impressed with this place. The dish I ordered was not tasteful and felt like a complete chore to eat. Before when ordering shelled fish the chef would cut a little in the crab shell to make a little easier to access the meat. The sauce was too much and very bland, nothing garlic about it. We were seated in a corner and directly behind us was a table for two. I was praying that no one would sit behind us as it would make it hard for anyone to move. Unfortunately, some was seated behind us and it was a tight squeeze for everyone. I had to go to the bathroom the poor gentleman who was sitting behind me had to retract his elbows, whist eating, to allow me to pass by him. The same for his companion, who had to disturb me to get by. In all not a comfortable meal or an enjoyable one at all."

"Stopped in for brunch on a Thursday early noon after a quick scout on TripAdvisor for places to eat on Morningside Road. A bustling cafe with stripped back wooden tables contrasting against rather elaborate metal light fittings and a mismatch of metal or simple cotton fabric covered chairs, we were luckily shown to the last available table in the back room. The cafe appears small from the outside but is actually deceptively big. Music was easygoing chill out which added to the relaxed atmosphere. Smiling waitresses helped also. We ordered coffees and eggs royale and our waitress promptly brought a jug of water over. Coffees came soon after and we were pleased that they were good...read more"

"Very excited to see a sign for vegan options! There were no charges, but enough and more than other places in the area. I don't know if they were underused or just weren't used to it. The service was slow and everyone seemed to run around. Everybody was nice. I was very happy that I could have a hot chocolate (first and only the holiday) request for almond milk to make it vegan! I had a cheese and cranberry pannini that was delicious and ordered a chocolate cheese cake for dessert. When it came to serve us the cheesecake, they had forgotten to take it out, and so it was frozen and we didn't have to (only other option was vanilla cheesecake, which I wasn't a fan of so I was disappointed) was a running theme that whitby vegan dessert game is not great!"

"This changed hands about a year ago and it’s now a delightful Italian cafe restaurant. Today I had the most wonderful roast vegetable salad that was beautifully presented. Roast vegetables on a dressed leaf base with large pieces of basil, dill and flat leaf parsley and a balsamic dressing round the edge of the wide rimmed bowl. The roast vegetables were slightly warm; not the fridge cold veg you so often get. Very welcoming service made my quick work lunch a real pleasure. A family with a small child was welcomed and I’m sure they had a lovely time. I look forward to visiting again as soon as possible. And they make their own biscotti!!"

"I dined at Bills in Holborn last night with two friends. The pros: the chicken dumplings were nice, a good portion size, and very tasty. Our waitress for most of the night was very friendly. However, the negative was that we didn't have the same waitress all night, we ended up with about 4 different servers and none of them seemed to know where we were in our meal. For dessert, I had the lemon balm sorbet, which was nice when it wasn't frozen in the middle. My friend ordered a cup of tea for £2.50, but what came was a huge porcelain pot that was only one third filled with hot water and a tea bag that was hardly filled. When my friend addressed this issue to the waitress, she didn't really understand the problem and although she offered to add more tea bags, it took so long that my friend no longer wanted it. It was a Tuesday evening and not very busy, yet sometimes we couldn't find any wait staff. Despite not drinking the weak tea and sending it back, it was still included on the bill and we had to ask for it to be removed, which I think should have been automatic. Overall, it was disappointing as I usually enjoy dining at Bills, but this experience at the Holborn branch was my first and last."

"I used to love Alto Lounge, but my recent experiences have been disappointing. The food is not worth the money, and the staff are unwelcoming and rude. The girl behind the bar had a terrible attitude and seemed uninterested in being friendly. The food is overpriced and there was hardly anything in stock. The breakfast I ordered was lukewarm with one egg on a soggy piece of bread that wasn't even toasted or buttered. For £10, one egg on a breakfast is not acceptable. The sausages looked undercooked and the whole dish was unappetizing. I will not be returning to Alto Lounge and I do not recommend it unless you want to feel unwelcome and eat overpriced, cold, and clearly microwaved food."

"The restaurant was pretty average in my opinion. And the only marks it does get is for the discount coupon we took their to get 20% off. The menu is not impressive in my opinion and after deciding on what not to have i decided to order an omlette, but even this was not done properly. The filling was quite good but the texture just inedible and rubbery. The positive for me would be their service ,which i must compliment was pretty patient, even after not ordering for an hour since one of friends was not there yet, they were humble and not rude at all."

"beautiful looking box with a good selection of taste, there is in the rule a cue, as the cakes are in high demeans. very good travel-friendly packaging that also works well if they want to give a gift. the bottom vanilla is not light and fluffy as I would have 4 stars, there are better cupcakes for the butter cream frostings are genuine and not fake. high quality ingredients are used."
