"After a Saturday morning conference at Balliol, I’d hoped to get a bite to eat at the Ashmolean café, but – no chance – all the tables were taken. So I returned whence I came, hoping to find somewhere to eat as I headed back towards the Cornmarket. Everywhere seemed busy, so I decided to head off into unknown territory down a small street, which is where I quickly came across the café. The outside smoking area was empty, and I could see that several inside seats were available too, so in I went. It wasn’t clear to me whether it was table service – it was – so I just walked to the counter, scanned the overhead menu, and ordered a tuna cheese panini. Can’t go far wrong with that. There was no freshly squeezed orange juice available, despite it being on the menu, but I was directed to a bottle of chilled orange juice in the fridge. That would have to do ….. The panini arrived fairly promptly, and the service was friendly. And I was able to watch the BBC News channel while I took a few minutes out of what was otherwise a busy day. I’d be happy to pop in again."

We didn't have to leave Oxford until noon, so we decided to get brunch at Organic Deli.

I know my coffee, and the stuff they serve here is top notch, we also enjoyed a nice cake to go with it. : View menu

We only stopped here for a drink and to relax in quiet and cool surroundings the day being very warm and Oxford heaving with tourists.

I visited this place twice on 2 different days. The guy working in this place knows nothing about shisha. He is a hard working friendly person but not well trained. The place needs alot of improvement. I won't visit again

This is a very basic place but if you want to smoke shisha, it's the good one to visit the service is quite slow and the place tends to be busy so get ready to wait. There are some drinks and food on the menu to order if you want to eat something as well. View menu

My partner and I were meeting two friends who had just purchased coffee and were still drinking it. We were asked to leave in an incredibly rude manner unless my partner and I also purchased a coffee, which we were about to do since we had just arrived. The waiter proceeded to take both of our friends coffees away and give them their money back, insisting all four of us leave the premises. Would not recommend. 1/10

we visited the organic deli cafe shortly before a tour through the university libraries. we told the employees that we were in a timetable and they were happy to serve us quickly. I am vegan and my partner is coeliac so that we often fight to find places we both enjoy eating. the breakfast menu organic deli cafe, however, had the choice for both of us and could be adjusted if possible. we both enjoyed our breakfast, but my partner said that the gluten-free pancakes were the best he ever tasted. it was the culinary highlight of our journey. the location is also something of a 'hidden gem', hidden down a side street that she could easily walk past. so keep them attentive! thank you. "I've been going to Oxford for 3 years now and in that time to be frank struggled to find a decent go to restaurant. I can now say with delight i've found my destination. I present SPICED ROOTS a little caribbean culinary gem. The fresh perfectly cooked food is absolutely delicious and gives off that home cooked by mummy vibe and is beautifully presented. The chilli and garlic prawns had my eyes closed Mark Weins style (if you know you know) so juicy with an incredible depth of flavour, the Trini doubles not only were seasoned to perfection they left you wanting more and the Jerk chicken spring rolls were an absolute triumph. For mains we had the ackee and callaloo Jerk Tempah (vegetarian) and the Jerk chicken. Both came with rice peas, plaintain and salad. Not only were the portions huge the flavours of both dishes were just mind blowingly delicious. Then we embarked on dessert and had the beautiful spiced rum cake and a selection of 3 home made ice creams namely Coconut, Guinness and the old Caribbean favourite Rum and Raisin, all recommended by the owner. It's at this point I feel compelled to speak about the rum raisin ice cream. I've eaten this ice cream on numerous occasions at numerous locations in Jamaica over my many years and I tell you no word of a lie this was hands down the best rum and raisin ice cream I've ever tasted, it literally left us speechless. So to summarise, this place has great food, great music, great service and a wonderfully charming owner who's totally invested in serving great, incredibly tasty, authentic Caribbean food clearly prepared with love. What more could you ask for. Fair to say it was meant to be. Uncle Jay."
