"This is a really nice restaurant whose lunch menu provides great value for money. While it's not made clear on the lunch menu itself, you get both a starter and a main for £9. The portions were good sizes and we all thought it was really delicious and authentic tasting food. This is one place where we will definitely go to again. "Superb apple crumble with that home cooked taste, topped with ice cream. Really nice after a ciabbata! I was going to get a latte but wanted another tea. The seating area is small but well worth the trip for the apple crumble, ice cream and tea! it is a small café so will fit a wheelchair but just although the entrance is not wheelchair accessible but the staff would accommodate by assisting. Tea is on point! Nice atmosphere and service!"

"Our dinner experience at this restaurant was supposed to be a highlight of our week away during Christmas, but unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations. The main issue was that upon being seated, we were informed that many menu options were no longer available. In my 40 years of dining out, I have never encountered a list of unavailable options as extensive as this. The excuse given for the limited food availability being because it was Christmas was wholly inappropriate. Despite this disappointment, the rest of the evening was satisfactory, with the food and service being decent. Overall, it was a letdown. I would recommend that the management improve their menu planning and food ordering process for the future."

The main reason being that as soon as we five were seated, we were given a list of menu options of what was no longer available. In 40 years I have never faced a list of missing options in any restaurant, perhaps the odd 1 or 2 options. Disappointment was compounded by the wholly inappropriate excuse that there was insufficient food because it was Christmas!! What remained of the evening was OK, food was OK and the service was good. All in all, it was a let down. Recommend that the management up their game with regards to menu planning and food ordering in the future."

"I took my man for date night and I was very hopeful about brasserie abode, as I did on my way to home from the work and the decor looks very stylish and beautiful. the black and white flowing and brass fantasies delight a jazz age ambiente supported by the music choices. the restaurant is down and the lighting and seating feel very intimate and cozy. the menu is a little small, but perfectly shaped, the only thing I would ask is the pricing of the starter at such a similar price point to some of the cheaper netzen. we decided to make a couple of baby cots before the main course, and then dessert. the food was beautifully presented on the right china (no silly boards or crooked here! and seasoned and sauces served in porcellan casting of muscheln. we chose the lobster spaghetti and a classic fish and chips, both were delicious light and crispy teig on the fish was perfect. both went well with a picpoul de pinet from the extensive wine list, a really excellent selection. there is a good selection of classic desserts, and sticky toffee pudding sent us to sit well after home. a beautiful meal for two for less than 90 £. we would definitely recommend and will go back to this restaurant!"

"We were on a 4 night mini break in Jersey. This was our sixth trip to the island but our first visit to the Salty Dog. We decided to visit following excellent reviews. We were not disappointed and had a great experience. The menu including the Tennerfest had plenty of choice. I had the Prawns in a hot pan to start and then Sole fillets in a tempura batter with avocado. I loved the Sole, 10/10 but I found the Prawns a bit too hot and took so long to cool down. My husband had Calamari to start which was very good followed by the Reef and Beef The beef was cooked perfectly. He also had the sticky toffee pudding which was truly delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was excellent and would recommend anyone to eat there."

"Great atmosphere and excellent TV quality. The food was nice and good. All staff were very friendly. However, bar service seemed pretty slow. It was a busy evening, but often there were two or three employees who spoke to each other, and served a person who was a little annoying when you tried to watch a football match again. One of the bar employees did not seem to know how to pour beer, fill glasses with almost pure foam! That didn't happen to the other."

"My missus wanted to go somewhere for brunch, so picked this spot. It did not let us down. Good parking availability on a bank holiday, and we all enjoyed our meals. My burger was cooked a perfect medium, and the gherkins were cut super thin (thick gherkins overpower/ruin any good burger), and the cheese was melted onto the burger Just how it should be. The Aioli the fries were served with was either freshly made, or very high quality pre bought. Fries were crispy, too. The full English wasn't the best, as the sausage was overcooked, and we received fried eggs instead of poached. That being said, mistakes can happen. The service staff (not one, but 4 of them) were phenomenal with the kids. They all said hello, offered the little ones high 5s, and we're very cheerful with the kids. I don't know if this is a rule from management, we just happened to see the right 4 service staff, or my kids happen to be cuter than most But I'm going to go with management expecting their staff to be friendly with kids. Prices were good for the area, but a little overpriced for the food, so no complaints there. Would I visit again? Yes."

"We parked opposite and as you look across at the restaurant in the dark the twinkling lights made it look welcoming. We had a warm greeting, with menus given and our drinks and food order taken promptly. We chose to share the warm breads and Chateaubriand. The breads were scrummy and so warm, felt like they were just out of the oven. And the Chateaubriand was out of this world…..it came with sauces, mac’n’cheese, onion rings, garlic mushrooms, chips and a rocket salad. It was all incredible and will rank as one of our best meals out ever! The service was subtle, friendly and attentive and the playlist was great. Thank you for a really lovely experience."

"I met a few friends for lunch today whom I hadn't seen in ages. As soon as we walked through the door, we were warmly greeted by the staff. They gave us plenty of time to look over the menu. I ordered the brisket with colby chips and gravy, and it was delicious— the brisket just melted in my mouth, and the chips were fantastic. We ended up sitting there for almost three hours. It was a wonderful experience in a beautiful setting."

"My family booked a table to celebrate my 70th birthday with 10 guests. First ever visit to this establishment and were we impressed. It was a busy Sunday lunch period but the staff were amazing and soon got us settled and seated and they had even helped to decorate the table with family requests. "we had a nice table at the window, the staff was excellent and welcoming, we were efficiently and well served, the food was all good, we had several different dishes, all were satisfied with their choice. We had to follow grills and steaks with sweet, one of everyone, all were good. we had a booking for 6 o'clock, it was quiet to start, but a little quiet as it was filled, but it was okay. I asked to take the meat home that we did not eat for our dog, and it was acceptable and I got it to take home, the dog was electrostatic."

"Made my friend take me here as I’ve wanted to try Gordon Ramsey beef Wellington. We got in an hour early and they were very accommodating to sit us early. Started our meal with some warm bread with a delicious Smokey butter with a touch of salt, which arrived quite some time after we asked for it. We’re we’re kind of left to our own devices for a while at first. Not sure really why as we were ready to order pretty fast. Our first course was the steak tartare which was wonderful. Everything I like about this dish was there. It was served with what seemed like home made crisps which were amazing. For our main course we both had the beef Wellington. The fillet part was absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. My disappointed came with the mushroom filling which just took over the flavor of everything, and for me not in a good way. Just too earthy. We both assured we would have enjoyed just a steak. The meal wasn’t cheap for both of us as one would expect. Especially with the alcohol prices."
