"My wife and I visited this restaurant some years back, when it was called one of the many names it feels like it has been called, due to the good right ups. Sadly, it was far from what we expected, loud, absolutely freezing cold inside (not helped by the fact it was chucking it down outside), and below par food. So we met up friends for an evening out and we thought we'd try Vadi out. Our thoughts, good I suppose, food was nice, it isn't as cold or loud as it was, but the service left a little to be desired. They were all friendly and polite, however two of our meals appeared, the other two about 10 minutes later, I asked for garlic three times, it was all a bit hit and miss. They were busy, but that isn't an excuse. Will give them one more chance and see what happens."

"it is literally moved around the corner, but it is still ingenious. absolutely the best takeaway kebab shop in the city. if they love a donator on chips, this place has the best chip-to-meat ratio. everything is fresh and the sauces are delicious. perfect location as it is close to most bars. a pop after a night is worth definitiw."

"Food and prices brilliant. Service normally good but bad experience tonight. 4 people ordered food, we walked out happily and then two members of staff ran our after us saying they gave us too much food. At this point we were out of the establishment so in my opinion it should have been left as it was their mistake, but they were persistent and took the food off of one of us! I couldn’t believe my eyes! Very dissapointed with this experience especially when it’s normally good. This is the place we have found and love at university and hope things change."

"Topkapi is a hidden gem in Edinburgh, offering some of the best kebabs in the city. From the moment you walk in, you're welcomed by a warm and inviting atmosphere. But what truly sets this place apart is the owner. We had the pleasure of meeting him during our visit, and his humility and genuine passion for his craft were immediately evident. He took the time to talk with us, sharing stories of his journey and the inspiration behind his dishes. The kebabs at Topkapi are simply outstanding—juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The spices are perfectly balanced, and you can tell that each ingredient is carefully selected. Whether you're a fan of lamb, chicken, or vegetarian options, there's something on the menu that will leave you satisfied. But beyond the food, it's the personal touch that makes Topkapi special. The owner's humility and dedication to his customers create a dining experience that feels personal and authentic. If you're in Edinburgh and craving a great kebab, Topkapi is the place to go. Highly recommended! This review highlights both the quality of the food and the positive experience of meeting the humble owner."

"Very nice little restaurant. Really friendly service and the food was excellent. Great pizza to start, with a charcoal dough base, it was a lot more interesting than what you get in most places. Two of us had the home made paccheri pasta with wild boar ragu from the specials menu and the other had the gnocchi. Both dishes were really good and authentically Italian. With a lovely tiramisu to finish, it really was an excellent meal. If you’re thinking of going, I’d recommend that you book in advance as it was full by the time we left."

"The dining experience was excellent. Although I'm not Persian, I have good friends who are, and I can confidently say that this restaurant rivals some of the best Persian establishments in London. I would even go so far as to say that some of the dishes I had were among the most beautiful and authentic I've ever tried. The "coresh" was particularly remarkable, and the meat was juicy and flavorful. You can always tell a good Iranian restaurant by the tenderness and moisture of the "huhn kebab," and this place did not disappoint. We had a large group of 16, and everyone was satisfied with their meals. To be honest, it was slightly more expensive than I expected for a local restaurant, but I believe it was worth it. It's a bit of a shame that it isn't always busy, as they truly deserve the patronage—this place is a hidden gem."

"Usually go to Richmond to meet with family for evening dinner, but parking getting worse and worse. Chiswick proved a great alternative with evening parking a lot easier than daytime, albeit Chiswick is well served by Tube Overground. Closest tube to Valentina's is Chiswick Park about a 5 minute walk. The restaurant front part is an Italian deli, with the restaurant behind and an inviting glowing pizza oven towards the rear. Reception and attentiveness of staff throughout was excellent. Food range was well thought through with sufficient if not more for the vegetarian diner. We had 3 course meal with drinks for a group of 4 and it worked out all in £37.50 a head. Very pleasant ambience, relaxed but attentive and quality superb. Would definitely go again."
"Went for a late dinner. A cozy Italian restaurant. The pictures talk for themselves. Just lovely. Would love to come back for another dinner at this place, next time I 'm in London. I do recommend this restaurant if you are in the area, because this one sticks out from the other Italian restaurants, and there are a lot of them. The place was not crowded and seams like the staff had put reserved card on tables, even though it was not reserved. A little strange, but maybe a trick to make it look busy. I just don 't think its a good idea. We almost did not walk in, because we saw all the reserved cards on the tables."

"I had an incredible olive, red pepper, and tomato linguine with rocket at this restaurant. It can also be made vegan without the parmesan. The dish was so flavorful and delicious, and the sea view from the restaurant was magnificent. This review was last updated on May 19, 2021."

"I stopped at this place at 11am one Sunday morning for a spot of lunch, it was crowded but I managed to get a stool by the window. Service was haphazard but polite, the people behind me had to reorder their coffee as their order was lost? Really, two coffees?I ordered a 'double Sydney ' and a cappuccino. The 'double Sydney ' was essentially eggs benedict with bacon two poached eggs, spinach, bacon and hollandaise on sourdough toast. It was pleasant, no more. The cappuccino was small about half the size of a usual Starbucks/Costa, just a small cup. I ordered two in the end.The food was OK but at £16 for bacon/eggs on toast and a coffee it was exorbitantly priced. It was worth no more than £8 9. The £16 included a 20% service charge so beware, the prices on the boards are not what you pay! That makes each small cappuccino £3 and the bacon/eggs on toast almost £10!"

"trip and we were not disappointed. The ambiance was lovely, with a cozy and intimate atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The food was delicious and well-presented, exceeding our expectations. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant in the future."

"I went there with an Italian friend who is vegetarian and is a great cook. She was on the hunt for farinata and was surprised to find a La Pia outlet/restaurant in London (or even the UK). It is widely known in Italy It did not disappoint. The farinata and the pizzas were very good and took my friend back to Italy. The service was great and friendly too. It's just a shame about the location as it is not really Notting Hill but about a minute walk from Ladbroke Grove. They deserve to be much busier but are let down by their location. It's worth a trip if you're anywhere near the area and you love good pizza and farinata (and pasta) My friend had a long chat with them on our second trip there. I expect it won't be our last trip there (I'm from East London and my friend is from South London)."

"All prices are listed without VAT, which is unusual for the city! (This isn’t mentioned anywhere on the menu, either.) The food was of very low quality, poorly prepared, and not worth the high price charged. It felt like a total rip-off. I won’t be returning, even if it’s the only place open in the area."

"What I ordered was a basic Margherita with pepperoni AND Italian spicy sausage. So, I expected a pizza loaded with two full extras. What I got was maybe the equivalent of one extra topping, if that, and the meat looked the same. Certainly I could not see what I’m used to calling Italian sausage. It was very oily too, I could have poured off at least 1/4 cup of oil from the top. It tasted ok but I’ve had much better in New York, Paris, and back in Australia where Aussie Italians make superb pizza. And, despite being called Made in Italy they did not have Italian cola. Still, the French restaurant next door don’t do croque monsieur’s so go figure. They need to work on being faithful to the name. The cafe was bright and airy, the waitress was good, makes a change from the pub and is better than Pizza Hut. KW, Australia"

"We were excited to dine at this restaurant and made a reservation through OpenTable. We arranged for a babysitter and took a taxi there, only to find a note on the window stating that the restaurant was closed. We were unable to find another restaurant nearby, so we decided to go home and order pizza instead. It was a very disappointing Friday date night."

"I decided to try the Waterfront's two-for-one 'all English breakfast' deal, and I'm glad I did! On a beautiful morning, I went with ten friends for breakfast without a reservation, and we were warmly welcomed with friendly smiles and prompt service. Our breakfasts arrived at the same time, and everything was piping hot. It was a fantastic deal considering the value for money, plus the location was superb on a sunny day—just be sure to dress warmly if you're sitting outside. Keep in mind that the two-for-one breakfast offer is only available from Monday to Thursday, so it's best to go early to avoid the crowds. I recommend checking their website or giving them a call for details."
