"Booked a table for 6pm for 4 of us. Picked up the other couple, parked by Dunelm, walked across to the restaurant...CLOSED and in darkness. No response, no notification, no dinner! Just had a response to the review made 2 years ago. The restaurant is now under new management (April 2024) so the previous review no longer applies. I wish the new owners all the best for the future."

"The Indian meal I had was absolutely fantastic. The lamb bhuna was tender and delicious, and the reshmi kebab was soft, flavorful, and tasty. Every bite was a delight for the taste buds. The variety of tasty dips that accompanied the meal was also impressive, and they were served promptly."

""This is the finest curry house in Sidcup! Though I hesitate to say so, as I don't want TheDarj to become too crowded.""

"we have reviewed this restaurant on tripadvisor and selected because it came as the top rated restaurant in brentwood. we have therefore expected to have something great on ta than other experience of the best rated restaurants. while eating and the restaurant was perfectly acceptable, it has not recalibrated our taste buds. the staff and the service were good, very friendly and friendly and it was a pleasant experience. a note when they plan a visit, they do not serve alcohol, but welcome their drink of choice."

"wow, what a great Indian restaurant. after house darlington is en route so called to come in the city for a curry, this place had appeared on google maps. from the moment we arrived, we were treated with ease and respect. the lady who served us was so friendly and polite. our eating was amazing, I even had a curry that had been taken from the menu, they were happy to make it for me. service second to none. very favorable too. we would literally come from lincoln to come here. recommend to the bottom."

"My father and I visited this restaurant just last night. We arrived without booking, and were told to come back in an hour, and they would ensure seats for us when we return. When we came back an hour later, the restaurant was absolutely packed, but true to their word they had saved seating for us. The service on our visit was second to none. Polite and attentive, they couldn't have been more accommodating. The food was exceptional; fresh, perfect flavour and cooked to perfection. After the meal, the staff were kind enough to order us a taxi and we were given a complimentary glass of Bailey's. I would highly recommend visiting this restaurant. We may have to return on a Sunday, when they have an all-you-can-eat buffet. Yum!"

"We had dinner on Weds 3rd August at Swadesh in Lordship Lane London as a wedding anniversary occasion with our two teenage children, who love Indian food. The dinner was delicious and I would thoroughly recommend the food. However, the atmosphere and appearance of the restaurant was inauspicious a dull exterior, rather 'caf ' than 'cafe ' interior and we were the only customers. We would go again but think it was the wrong choice probably for a summer mid week evening!"

"My partner and I went to this restaurant for the first time and were really impressed with the stylish interior and the arrangement of the tables. The staff were both friendly and attentive, allowing us to enjoy each course at our own pace. The food was not only beautifully plated but also incredibly flavorful, surpassing our expectations. Considering the area, we found the prices to be very reasonable. We will definitely be returning for another meal."

"Having lived in the local area for nearly a year now I cannot believe it took us this long to find this incredible restaurant on our door stop!!!!! Absolutely amazing food and so reasonably priced, of course the BYO is great and they will even...put your beers in the fridge for you. Highly recommend for great food and great atmosphere. We will be visiting regularly!!"

"Always incredible food and fantastic service. The staff are always super polite and friendly to my daughter (aged 1), the only thing i would recommend them to improve is to get a high-chair and baby changing station for the toilets as currently they don’t have these in place, so changing my daughter can be tricky and i have to bring a booster seat/table to the restaurant."

"Last night at Varanasi Bar was a wonderful experience, featuring live music with Adrian Paris on stage. The atmosphere was fantastic, with a packed room full of people dancing on the floor. The food was excellent, and the service was top-notch. A big shoutout to all the staff and owners for creating this vibrant spot for our local community in Crosspool—no other place compares in terms of ambiance. If you're looking for a lovely evening with great music and delicious curry, this is the place to be. I highly recommend making a reservation, as it fills up quickly. Don't miss out!"

"Look, I 'm 53 years of age. I 've had a fair few curries in my lifetime: some good, some awesome, some average, some poor. But by far and away the worst curry I 've *ever* had came from Mumbai Spice on Woodborough Road, Nottingham. I 've only ever had one meal that I paid for that was worse and that was burnt). Anyhow, your heart always sinks a bit when you open a takeaway container and it 's swimming with sauce with only a few pieces of insipid chicken chucked in: and Mumbai Spice was such an offender. What can I say about the taste... the weirdest Dansak ever. Sickly sweet with a few sticky lentils floating about, forlornly looking for the meat. Sooooooooooo bad; I was brought up never to waste food but I genuinely couldn 't finish this, so vile was it. I do feel they insulted me, presenting this as a curry. Just awful. Still, we 've learned our lesson it 'll never happen again: we 'll *never* go back. So save yourself being insulted as well and find somewhere else to go. Read the other reviews if you 're not convinced. And Mumbai Spice: just a little customer service tip... when you say you 've 'put some free poppadoms in ', if three people are ordering, at least put three of them in. Otherwise it just makes you look mean. It 's a no brainer)."

"booked table in front of the football game with us had to hunt our eating twice forward as we were for the time tight. the waiter explains minutes is normal, how meat cooked on grill. eating was excellent and byob option is perfect, but would have been of good if time factor recommended, but we will know the next time!"
"the bombay lounge is a very small traditional Indian restaurant. as they enter, they are greeted with a warm smoked filled space, with bright red tables and a few paintings hanging on the wall. when I left, there were no other guests, but the restaurant was still cozy, because there are only about 5 tables in the main room when they were in. the rest of the seats is on the back of the restaurant. eating was pretty good. the portions were not too big, which is perfect for me because I can never eat much. it was good and the service was very friendly."

"Waiters didn't really explain the menu which is the opposite of other reviews. So I was surprised at this. Also service was very slow. Waiters didn't come to our table apart from giving our food. Two plates were taken away whilst I was still eating. Then my plate was left for a long time before being cleared. No one came back to us to see if we wanted dessert until we actually called someone (no one checked our table so it was impossible to even get someone's attention). At this point we decided not to get anything further and just asked for the bill. Food was OK, although we dosa could have done with more spicing and salt. The special dosa was OK. The chilli lime mogo was nice and the hara bara kebab was nice but could have done with more chutney."

"I had a great experience at Bombay Bicycle Chef. I ordered the Chicken Biryani, Squid Rings, and Cheesy Naan, all of which were delicious. The 50% promotion definitely made the meal feel more worthwhile. I'll need to check the actual prices to see if I agree with their value. The Mango Lassi was incredible, though I was disappointed that they did not serve cocktails or mocktails. I would definitely return!"

"Visited with a group of friends on a Wednesday evening. We sat down at 6.30pm when the restaurant was reasonably quiet, but an hour or so later it was much more lively. No menus on tables, you have to scan a QR code and look at it on your phone. My first time here so I opted for the Regular Tawa and asked for the curries medium spiced. My Asian friends suggested maybe slightly less than medium might be better for my western palate, so I opted for that. The guy who took our order was very friendly and helpful with aspects of the food for everyone. The Tawa is a beast for one person: lamb curry, chicken curry, fries, naan bread, chicken wing, lamb chop, chicken and lamb kebabs all served on a sizzling hot platter delivered by staff wearing heatproof gloves. The curries were not spicy in the slightest (maybe my palate is more tolerant to spice than I expected! but they were incredibly flavourful with the most tender meat. Not to be beaten, I finished the whole thing with no chance of a dessert ever getting close to my plate. Friends had a variety of other dishes from karahi to mixed grill to lamb chops. All were similarly impressed with the food. Overall a great experience and fantastic value for money given the size of the portions and the quality of the food."
