"Which came first, the vegetarian or The Egg? Because while it's a veggie café, I can see no carnivore resisting the insanely great value delights that come part and parcel with this place. I thought it was only in greasy spoons that you'd leave with a gigantically full belly after spending less than a fiver. The Egg proves you can do the same with none of that bacon or sausage repeating on you throughout the day. The format of The Egg is simple. Once you've found it hiding off Bold Street, you hop up the kitsch purple stairs and enter a world of boho decor, creative types with laptops, artsy posters left right and centre, and a counter filled with more moreish delights than you could imagine. You queue up at the counter and you place your order, kind of like a fast food restaurant. But instead of getting your gungy cardboard boxed food in a tray immediately, you're given a sweet little ticket and your drinks to take to one of the many long benches or cosy tables in the vicinity, with extra seating upstairs. I plumped for orange juice, Mum for a cappuccino, and tap water was free in water filter jugs on the counter to help yourself to. Brilliant. You don't need to keep asking for it. I'd plumped for the spicy bean burger served with their own relish (heck, everything here is homemade) which is served with a side salad, as is the cheese on toast Mum ordered, thinking she was going for a lighter bite. Ohhh, how wrong she was. Can I just say once and for all that The Egg is a student's wet dream. Our food was brought over. For £3.50, my mother not only had pasta salad, bulgar wheat, lettuce, chickpeas, tomato, kidney beans, butter beans and more besides, she had two ENORMOUS, thicker than your average brick doorstop slices of wholesome granary bread topped with the ultimate perfect cheese topping, you know the kind, where it goes brown and speckled and sits perfectly even on top of the bread. Cripes. She'd spent less than me, she got more. Again. She thought she was going for the smaller option. My bean burger was not so much patty-shaped as completely spherical, which I loved about it. It was so quirky I almost didn't want to spoil it by eating it. But down it went. Into my belly. I got the same side salad which is packed with so many goodies, you could easily have it on its own. For like, £1.50 or something. How does this place turn a profit? The pitta breads on the side where lovely and warm and fresh but I merely nibbled on those and dunked them into my relish, concentrating more on helping Mum out with that Doorstep Challenge. The Egg has a great atmosphere to it, nice tunes, kitsch surroundings and food so fresh, tasty and plentiful you could eat here every day. And you don't find yourself missing meat in the slightest. There are also cakes and a plethora of hot drinks to choose from, so don't think you have to rock up here and order a main meal. But you should. They have to be seen and tasted to be believed."

"An amazing authentic Brazilian buffet style restaurant down entertainment avenue at the O2. The price per person for the food menu excluding drinks and dessert is £22 for meat, £18 for vegetarian, £12.50 for children (5 12yrs) and children under 5 are free. Passadors come to the table with an extensive range of different meats, like rump beef, pork, chicken thighs and chicken wrapped in bacon. The meat is cut off straight from a skewer and put onto your plate you just tell them how much you want. You are also given a little round card which is used to say stop when you've had enough meat. You just turn it over when you've stuffed yourself enough and they stop coming to your table. The buffet of vegetables and salad is amazing. The dishes range from couscous, fried banana crockett's to gherkins and pasta salad. There is a wide variety of sauces and dressings to compliment all the food. There is a full bar of wines from around the world, cocktails, spirits, champagne and soft drinks. The price for a glass is £3 8. As you tuck into your delicious dinner, you are entertained with a live band playing traditional Brazilian music. If your not too stuffed you can get up, shake a tail feather, work off some of the meal and eat more again! Then once you've had enough to eat, why not have a dessert off the dessert tray which is rolled around from one of the passadors. They have cheesecakes, cakes, trifles and ice creams. As i was too stuffed from the main meal, I could not bring myself to have one, but next time I'm not missing out as they all looked gorgeous. In all, I think for the price, you get enough food to last you for a week and you will never get bored as there is so much variety. This is a comfortable restaurant in a buzzing setting where you can enjoy a taste of Brazil in Greenwich."

"I know people rave about this place and It has a Michelin Green Star, however my family and I were so disappointed. I have only just now had an opportunity to post a review. It was my daughters 16th Birthday and she especially wanted to come and experience the food and ambience. For a set £90 per head for 3 course before drinks, there was no other options to have less food. The appetizers listed were so common place and uninspired. Melon with prosciutto and bruschetta with tomatoes??? My partner and I don’t eat bacon so we were given a small piece of the melon with a basil leaf instead. Three of us had the linguine with chili crab and one had the Scottish griolles on bruschetta. The crab linguine was like eating pasta swimming in lemon dish water. It was overly lemony and you couldn’t taste the crab at all. The mushrooms on toast were soggy and again nothing special. For mains the girls fared better, one had the lamb and the other the beef which was reasonable. I had the plaice and my partner had the sea bream. Unfortunately both dishes were absolutely tasteless. I would say that I have a discerning palate and can appreciate the more subtle flavors of these two fish dishes but I’m afraid I had to basically force myself to finish the fish so that I wouldn’t waste the £30 it cost to have this dish in front of me. The potato side we ordered was overly salted so was jarring against the flavourless fish. Two of the desserts were the only discernible dishes that were remotely passable from the menu we experienced this evening. The strawberry cheesecake and the peach frangipane tart which were nice enough but for £30 for each dessert I was expecting something special. one of my daughters ordered the tiramisu, which was a deconstructed version of the dessert and it was a hopeless effort that came with a side of very strong expresso which they didn’t explain at all. So unbeknownst to my daughter she poured most of it over the dessert and the end result was inedible. The atmosphere wasn’t that great, the staff were attentive in a slightly haughty way but I wish they would have explained the dishes a little more. All in all I will not be back and I will give an honest opinion to anyone that asks me about our visit to the restaurant, this is one of the worst meal I have had all year."
