"Booked this place for 8 people to celebrate a Graduation. Off to a bad start, no-one greeting guests at arrival and was left standing for at least 5 minutes before a waitress who seemed to have an attitude finally showed us to our table. Service was ok to start with taking drinks and main meal orders reasonably promptly. However when the drinks arrive there was an extra drink that no-one had ordered. The main courses then arrived in dribs and drabs with at least 10minutes(possibly longer) between the first dish arriving and the last one, by which time the fist dishes had cooled noticeably. Food was ok but nothing special. Make sure you check the menu and prices before you go as the costs can quickly escalate. Also we had one guest who likes to enjoy their food and takes their time eating it. This didn 't stop the staff clearing the rest of the table leave this one individual still eating, felt completely inappropriate and a clear sign to get a move on. Ordered desert which again was ok but nothing special. Then the fun of trying to get the bill and pay for it. Our original waitress seemed to have disappeared and finally managed to attract a member of staffs attention from the opposite side of the room. Asked for the bill and eventually someone came over with the bill then walked away. I assumed that they were away getting the payment reader but no. Had to finally flag down the Manager and asked to pay. He did return with the card reader at least. Spoke to the Manager on the way out and expressed our huge disappointment and clearly stated that this would be our FIRST AND LAST TIME . He offered an apology but by that time just wanted to get out of the place. No I would not recommend this place!"

"Went for dinner on the 7th of October to celebrate my partners birthday. Started off with a lovely Nigroni for myself and a gin and tonic for my partner but unfortunately was downhill from there. We ordered our food with the waitress, explaining that I was dairy intolerant, I ordered and the waitress checked with the kitchen that what I had ordered could be done dairy free. We also ordered a bottle of wine so that it had time to open up while we finished our drinks. No wine appeared. I had the duck terrine to start and my partner and I shared some sourdough. We asked for some balsamic and oil to go with the bread for myself but this was forgotten and did not get picked up until we had nearly finished our starters. The terrine was bland and did not seem like much care had gone into making it. The plum chutney was overly spicey and the celeriac slaw consisted of some raw celeriac dressed with what seemed like just pure lemon juice. The toasted bread was missing from the plate. I left over half the dish, the waitress that cleared the table asked if the dish was okay and I said that I did not really enjoy it. We then asked for our wine which had been forgotten about. My partner had the beef cheek for main. The beef cheek itself was well executed, it was served with a horseradish mash but unfortunately this was under seasoned. Also on the dish were three tiny florets of over cooked broccoli. This meant that the whole dish was one texture and boring. I had the venison for main, the haunch was cooked nicely and the cabbage was okay, but the scotch egg was split down the side, rare and cold in the middle. That was unpleasant to eat and I left it. I asked the waitress if it was meant to be served like that and she told me that it was meant to be served rare but that should have been explained For dessert, my partner had the creme brulle. This was nice. I had the bakewell which was okay but the sponge was dry. Again I did not finish the plate. The bill came with no change based on any of the feedback I had given, I did not want to complain further as my partner and I don 't get out often and I did not want to spoil our evening. We were expecting a similar service to the Woodspeen being its sister resteraunt but sadly it was no where near the mark. Overall a very disappointing evening."

"What a great find. I came across this little gem by chance when out for an exploration of Bradford-on-Avon one breezy afternoon and it was the perfect cosy place to warm up and over look the river. I walked in after being drawn in by the wonky façade and seeing the plaque that tells you about how old the place is. When I then discovered it was a tea room I had to go in. Upon entering the tiny door which I had to crouch and turn sideways to get through I was amazed by the interior and greeted by some very friendly staff in traditional Victorian maids attire that asked me about any reservations. I quickly realised I had walked into a very popular spot. I said I hadn't booked and asked if they could squeeze me in. They said they would check. A few moments later a very smart gent in a waist coat came and said they could fit me in and asked me to take a seat whilst they get a spot ready. Shortly after he lead me upstairs to spot just next to some stairs where I had a nice view straight out the window over the river. Both rooms that I saw were covered in nik naks and ornaments all over. The walls had vintage and period art and photos. It was very cool and made you feel as if you had been transported to another time. I ordered an earl grey tea and key lime pie. The tea was loose and came with a full tea service. Tea pot, strainer, extra water and separate jug of milk. It was all very nice. The key lime pie was great too. The whole place was busy with people that had obviously been aware of the place and had booked what seemed to be afternoon teas with trays of cakes and sandwiches that good too. If I had a function or a group of mates , even just thinking of a cosy date I would think of this place. I enjoyed my brief visit and would visit again for sure."
