"had a great time here for a Tuesday night. really nice, different menu for nutritional needs given. manager was friendly and responsive, noticed that we felt a bit cramped on a smaller table so that we moved to a bigger one. our waiter joe was great, he would always ask if we needed something, confirmed nutritional needs when giving that, felt very personally every time he would come to the table. another waiter keiran from another section would check if we needed something, just when we walk past, felt really looking! definitely a great night and experience, so a friendly atmosphere the staff are great."

"Came here a couple weeks ago and had the pleasure of meeting the server Ash She was absolutely lovely and recommended some amazing dishes my favourites were the chilly cheesy chips and the meat samosas. We tried lamb Makons on our breakfast upon her recommendation which went very well with the breakfastSuch a good halal alternative to bacon She even managed to convince us to have dessert The food tasted amazing although the wait time could have been slightly shorter. we were recommended peanut butter shakes which were absolutely delicious . Smart sale tactics by Ash as we ended up spending far more than planned but it was worth every penny! The atmosphere was lovely as we sat outside and the owner was also a great chat. Definitely will be coming here again"

"had a nice evening here last night. we thank them for a last minute reservation. we had a few cocktails here that were amazing and all made to order, followed by a glass fizz that was also beautiful. I liked to eat the sound of garnis and asparagus risotto, but after laughing instead of prawns asked that the chef amazingly did it was full of taste. my partner had the burger and really enjoyed it. for the desert, they must try the choc orange cheesecake was devine, and did real efforts with the presentation of the food. super friendly staff and the decor is beautiful with a cozy modern atmosphere, thank you."

"beautiful little restaurant. we feel the sushi selection was somewhat poor and had strange and extremely random combinations. a simple solution. I'm trying to be quirky. Comments/Critiques: I understand that times are difficult, but it is very too expensive. £5.95 for two pieces of rice with a salmon spun top. (nigiri). cream cheese and fruit sauce should not be in any roll anywhere! crabstick. No, soft crawler, please! 6 pieces of certain rolls. should be 8. nori 90deg? katsu chicken curry was very beautiful, but the Panko coating came every single piece. the gyoza was crispy as if deep fried?! I didn't ask for a cream cheese. when the rolls came out, it was quite clear that they realized something on the then, so removed it. it was clearly visible on each piece. the unenchanted young waitress reacted with “good I asked it without cream cheese”. just let it go. I would definitely go back, but would be a menu update for sushi and change the prices as it is away from the brand."

"I was visiting Orkney and did not find any other options for Italian food so I decided to check out this place. The bill for a pizza, a pasta, garlic bread with cheese, a slice of cheesecake, and one coffee was about forty pounds. According to Orkney rates, that is on the pricier side. The food was a good change from the other food I had been having at Orkney but I would recommend the staff make their pizzas more exciting; like adding or providing olive oil for the pizzas. If you are looking for Italian food, do check out Lucano and be specific about what you need with the staff. Do not rely on the reviews of others."

"The staff at this restaurant were incredibly friendly and helpful in assisting us with our selection. The pizzas offered a wide variety of topping options and were available in either 8" or 10" sizes, both of which were thin and crispy, which I enjoyed. "We visited Cardiff from London and were hungry, so we decided to try yelp. Not sure about doing Italian in Wales but this place is wonderful. It seems family run (is that Mamma and Papa in the open kitchen? . Not sure but the food is clearly home cooked and just terrific. We ordered only from the specials which were presented to us on a blackboard and had broccoli and sausage for appetizer, a pizza with ham and cheese and rocket as well as a swordfish with a delicious caper anchovy vegetable topping and roasted potatoes for a main. Every dish was terrific, the waiting staff polite and to top it all of they played Elephant Revival on the stereo. Highly recommended."

"I had wanted to try out this gastropub for some time and spend a few squid on some top notch food. Well it does not disappoint ! Its clearly popular and busy, the ambiance of the place is very inviting, comfortable and the many staff...very attentive and helpful. We had some calamari and garlic bread to start with and share, the garlic bread was amazing and reminiscent of the garlic butter found in french escargots, rich and delicious. The calamari was served with some lovely tartare sauce and hit the spot. Followed the fish of the day and sea vegetables. Flaky cod cooked to perfection, tons of flavours yet subtle and balanced. The famous fish and chips was beautiful and executed perfectly. Nothing more to add, it did what it said on the tin. Perfect. Now then for the spatchcocked chicken and chips spicy slaw). This was simply the best chicken I ever had said my daughter. Moist and melt in the mouth texture with just the right hint of thyme and lemon and a touch of smoky flavours. It fell off the bone and clearly had a huge amount of attention to details in the execution. Simple food executed as it should. We ran out of steam for dessert and shall be back in the pub section to try some out!. Many thanks to all staff and chefs, this is a must to visit and a box ticked (tickled? ; Until next time."

"Wow!! What Can I say an amazing bistro!! We chose belle vue for our anniversary meal (a year together today) and I’m so glad we did. The food was amazing. "The customer service was excellent, which is what you would expect given the restaurant's target clientele. We utilized a private room for our gathering, which accommodated some additional guests without any issues. Overall, the experience and atmosphere were very enjoyable. Additionally, the waitress had a great rapport with our group. The food was delicious, prepared to a high standard, and served promptly. There were a few mistakes with the orders, but that's understandable given the size of our party. The only reason I didn't give it a full five stars is due to the slightly higher price point and the minor order errors. Otherwise, I was very pleased and will definitely return."

"Iv been coming to the gate for many years but then it closed for several months but obviously re opened and been here a good few times. Each time myself and company have dined it has been without fault. The garden and surrounds are a lovely place to bring children especially on bbq afternoons. The staff manager and all customers seem friendly and approchable and are happy to assist. The lavatories have been always clean as with the pub and the gardens very well maintained. There is a nice selection of ales bitters and beers to choice from. I would find it very hard to believe that anybody should have any complaints about their visit to The Gate, in fact i have recommended it to many of my friends. Working in hospitality myself at a private boys school i understand the pressure on chefs hospitality assistants and staff to get things just right and you have just that. I look foward to returning and bring along some friends. Well done to all your staff its important to have a happy go lucky team you certainly come up trumps there.
