"My family and I dined at this restaurant on Saturday, July 28th. We had 6 adults, a five-year-old, and a baby with us. This restaurant is local to us and we are familiar with it. It has a warm family atmosphere that is busy but not overly loud, with friendly staff who are attentive and cheerful without being pushy. The service is good even when it's busy, and the owner is very hands-on and greets everyone. We enjoyed a delicious rioja wine, along with tasty house wines. The starters, pizzas, and pasta were excellent and reasonably priced. The mains and specials, on the other hand, were a bit overpriced and the portions were small, although flavorful. Two in our group found them disappointing. Our pizza, the Anacapri, was a bit lackluster, undercooked, and bland, which is unusual as they are usually good. Nonetheless, it didn't ruin our evening, and we all had a good time, especially the kids. The staff didn't mind the children walking about and they even received special attention."

"I went for lunch yesterday at this restaurant. It was not my first time there and it certainly won't be my last. The staff is lovely, very polite, and attentive. We tried the lunchtime special which was £14 for three courses. It was an absolute delight! The meatball starter was delicious, the potato skins and pasta were generous portions, and the pizza was delicious and plentiful (we even took some home). If you want to have a fantastic meal, this is the place to go. They also have a beautiful outdoor seating area for the summer. I can't wait for the sunshine!"

"My daughter and I went to San Carlo on New Years day my daughter had booked a table for 3.30pm it was very busy when we got there .We were asked if we had booked and we said yes there were three people in front of us who had not booked and were given a table .My daughter and I were sent downstairs and had to wait 20 minutes then we were seated downstairs .The attitude of the staff there was not good the only person that seemed to bother was the lady taking the money.Will be a long time before I go there again I was appalled at the service."

"Off night?. Visited San Carlo on a Sunday evening based on a recommendation from a well travelled friend. Lets start with the positives. Wine list was excellent and the shared starter of mixed cured meat was attractive, tasty and high quality. Unfortunately, everything else was disappointing. The risotto I had was re-heated and served in a cream laden sauce to compensate for the lack of basic technique. My partners pasta arrived with a completely different sauce to the one described in the menu (creamy, with Parmesan added despite her requesting no cheese versus the tomato). "We can only recommend the Ristorante Alitalia at Hammerbrookstraße 93, directly opposite the S Hammerbrook South. We'll definitely be back. We were 3 people, everyone had ordered something else and we were completely enthusiastic. The Rumpsteak is better by lengths than in the Block House, the Penne Arrabiata was super tasty and the pork medals were also great. The red wine Bella Primotiva was worth a sin."

"authentic Italian restaurant that even aubergine in her pizza tastes delicious. I visited this restaurant twice for dinner after I inaugurated and the other time I had one. both of them were delicious. Personally I like these pizzas that you can eat with a fork and a knife and a good amount of cheese toppings and VIP pizza has delivered exactly the right one. I ordered vip burrata although it was delicious, but I felt the amount was less for two people. I also ordered a tiramisu that was a bit underwhelming, I tasted better tiramisu. the next day I ordered a simple tomato pata that was beautiful as they made home pasta. I also ordered something they called sandwich that was fine tasty, but difficult to eat."

"This restaurant is insulting to a nation by claiming to be a neighborhood Italian restaurant. My mother is Italian, and a key characteristic of such places is consistently good food, fresh ingredients, and friendly service. Al Bacio falls short in all areas. The service is terrible, unfriendly, and rude. The food ingredients are either frozen or not fresh, and the quality of cooking is subpar. "Very comprehensive menu with varied choices. The only thing was there was a set menu choice and I am sure some of our party made choices that would have fitted the set menu. It was not explained to us whether we could 'mix and match ' so we paid full price for everything. The night we attended there was a live band which was very good although it did make eating a meal a little difficult as the staff were a bit distracted by the band. "We stumbled across this restaurant after attempting to get a table at ASK Italian, our usual haunt, only to discover they were taking bookings only. What a brilliant find. No fuss, just great, friendly service and really, really good food. The front window looked like it had been vandalised and awaiting repair, which could easily put people off (town louts! but it shouldn't. We will come back here next time we are in York. Can't recommend the delicious food and great service more highly. Could probably do with a little makeover inside but that didn't matter at all."

"The evening was totally spoilt by the service. Arriving at 7.20 for our 7.30 table we waited an hour for three starters our party was for 7 people. 25 minutes later we are told our mains would arrive in 5 minutes, 35 minutes later the waiter came and told us that they had run out of chips! Absolutely unacceptable. We had been there over two hours and 5 of us had not eaten anything now being told that they had run out of , what should be staple item on any menu is unbelievable. We paid our bar bill and left. Unfortunately we would not go back ,nor recommend to anyone else. Our party had met from different areas for a pre Christmas meal so it was a big disappointment."

"A pleasant looking restaurant that soon lost its appeal, the service was exceptionally poor with it taking over 40 minutes for our drinks order to be taken, communication between the limited staff an obvious issue, no apology given, service thereafter was adequate but in no way redeemed itself, indeed when the table next to us tried to get the waiters attention the shout across the restaurant of Sorry but can 't you see I 'm very busy was nothing short of Fawlty Towers at its best. "Sunday 6pm service slow...had to keep waving for service....when we sat down we asked if the Tiramasu was available as we had a guest coming that was having ONLY that .....we were told it was available but when we ordered it were told it was still setting and not ready for another hour ! We were offered it on the house later but we had theatre tickets so that was that. Great food otherwise as usual....just need more staff or staff who are a bit more attentive at the table. There was a great big labrador shaking and licking itsself in the booth area near the kitchen which was a bit off putting..it wasnt a disability dog as far as we could make out. If you dont mind dog hair floating about while you eat then this wont bother you. Love the food here and this was the first below expectations visit at this venue in 12 visits"

"Best gluten free pizza I've ever tasted! Pia, the proprietor, is absolutely lovely and her staff are equally as genuine, enthusiastic and eager to help. The feminine touch definitely shows and it is a very friendly place to visit. The restaurant offers pizza, pasta and homemade gelati which goes down a treat with kids and adults alike. Only complaint is that Pia doesn't open everyday and every evening! A great local business worth supporting."
