"we hosted our work Christmas celebration at the alexander hay in februar 2022 and my feedback is nothing but positiw. the venue was so courteous, especially around us, who had to be redesigned due to Covid restrictions. we had a buffet for eating including dessert and the whole food was delicious, something for everyone. adam was our contact at the venue and he was brilliant, always friendly, helpful and on the hand to answer questions. the rest of the bar staff in the night was also very friendly and quick to use. I would recommend the alexander hay after working for all work parties or drinks, it is a really nice place. the dj was also great! many thanks for everything that helps us to go seamlessly."

"I used to be a great fan of Pilgrim Pizza until the recent drop in standards noticed by myself and my friends independently. Since the menu changed, I decided to give it another go, to contrast and compare their meaty pizza with the superb one at the more pricey Pizzeria Mozza the day before. If they had the wisdom to keep simple comfort food simple and not try too hard, then the pizza could have been very good. But the tasty meat topping on a lovely base was totally wasted by not having any melted cheese on top as the stomach cries out for and instead, a fridge-cold Burrata sat out of place in it’s midst! Yet the photo on their website still had the melted cheese old version, which shows some things should not be changed! Christina"

"We had to wait for over an hour for our reserved table, which was not ideal as my elderly parents in their mid-eighties had nowhere to sit. The appetizers were enjoyable, but my main dish was lacking in flavor. After waiting for over 40 minutes for the dessert menu, we decided to leave. Even the jug of water took 30 minutes to arrive. We ended up paying the bill at the entrance where there was a line of people waiting for their reserved tables. The management needs to improve staff training and ensure they have enough employees."

"The food at this restaurant is excellent and the service is good. The new large teepee seating area is impressive. However, I am a bit uncertain about the hot air blow system. It was convenient for us to be seated next to the outlet, but circulating hot air may not be ideal currently. Perhaps the restaurant should consider using infrared heaters instead."

"There is an enormous choice of lunch venues in this area of the City, however I would certainly rate the newly refurbished Balls Brothers in Mark Lane as one of the most pleasant. My friend and I received friendly and personal service from the moment we arrived even though it was very busy and most tables were occupied. Our food was excellent, hot and well presented and the recommended bottle of wine by the waitress was most enjoyable and very reasonable. I shall look forward to returning ........"

"I 'm not usually one to complain or write bad reviews, but this place deserves special mention for what was almost definitely the worst pub/restaurant experience of my life thus far.Firstly, after the 6 of us were sat down upstairs, it took over 25 mins for a server to ask us for any drinks, with tables around us that had arrive later being served before us, In the end we had to go downstairs to ask for someone to come up, they eventually did. Insult was added to injury when we saw the table next to us had 8 people on it , a clear breach of rules and a bit annoying giving we had let down some of our friends who wanted to come.We ordered 3 bottles of prosecco as they were half price as well as our food. Another 30 mins then passed, I am aware pubs have just reopened and it is busy, but to sit in what is a pub and wait over 45 mins to get a drink is ridiculous. I then asked a nearby server (small middle aged woman) if she could look into where our drinks were as we had been waiting over 45 mins and if they had forgotten the order, she then proceeded to laugh at the prospect we had waited that long, patronised me about it and laughed in my face, at one point even tapping me on the shoulder laughing saying Oh . Come on . I then asked if she could bring her manager up as tbh i was pretty seething, needless to say the manager never came.The drinks were then eventually brought up and we got on with our night, unfortunately matters only got worse when the food was brought out.(Now 1hr 30 since we entered the pub).I have attached photos ....I understand it is a pub so i don 't expect Michelin star cooking but I expect a lot better than what I received. Having paid 18 pound for the Philly Cheese Steak I expect it to at least be edible. My friend ordered a burger and got an equally distasteful meal. All of the other meals were equally poor and lukewarm, only have photos of a couple.I cannot stress to you how bad it was, I am by no means a food snob i will eat at roadside cafes , burger vans etc and enjoy it, it takes a lot for something to be inedible for me, but please never eat here. For the price you pay around 20 per main, you can do a lot better at Mc Donalds and get your food 10x quicker"

"excellent quality eating. it will take some visits to process the optimal number to order 2 or 3 small plates or 1 and 1 large etc.) the price will affect the last combo. we had two small and one big. a small plate was ribbed with three cooked chips. delicious. great value. the other small plate was makrele scampi, which at £10.50 for 6 pieces was a bit on the expensive side and saw small also on a small plate! needs salat or sweet. my big plate was a burger absolutely delicious. only a small point: the prices on the menu were not clear, there was a dot in the middle of the zero, so the £10.50 scampi looked like it cost me £18.50! which would not have been good and at a tenner it was the upper end for the portion size."

"My family and I decided to have dinner at Balls Brothers in Hays Galleria on Friday night, but we were extremely dissatisfied and disappointed. When we arrived, the place was exceptionally loud, with people crowded everywhere. However, that wasn’t the main issue. We requested our table, and while the host showed us to it, we found it was dirty. Although we waited for it to be cleaned and were eventually seated, the situation only worsened. A music speaker right above us was blaring, making it impossible to have a conversation. When we asked if the volume could be lowered, the waiter informed us that it couldn't be done. After waiting another 20 minutes for menus and growing increasingly frustrated, we decided to leave and find another nearby restaurant."

"The staff at this restaurant is very friendly and accommodating, but unfortunately, the food was not very impressive. We ordered burgers and they tasted like they were store-bought. However, we noticed that the other dishes being served to other tables, such as the pizza, looked good. Maybe we just had bad luck with our choice. "Perhaps the owners are new and they are still trying to get established. We were the only diners that lunch time. The food appears to be bought in and included oven chips and frozen peas. The fish, gammon and scampi were over cooked and the batter on the fish was soggy. It was served on cold plates.I should have said something at the time but it was a social occasion and I could not bring myself to make a complaint. Two days a later we had lunch at a pub less than miles away where the food was excellent but the price was the same.I note that the Wingfield Arms also does a Sunday lunch, perhaps that is better"

"Met friends for dinner. Good location, good food. Was quite loud initially with the after work crowd there initially (arrived 6pm), but once it thinned out, the ambient noise was better and we could talk without having to yell across the table! "1. When we arrived, we were seated at our table without being given menus. We had to go to the bar to get someone's attention and order drinks. 2. We waited about 25 minutes to receive menus, and when we finally did, we were given only two for a group of 8. 3. We had to ask multiple times for someone to come take our order. 4. When we finally placed our order, we were told that many dishes were no longer available. 5. The waiter accidentally spilled a whole glass of red wine on the table while clearing the starters. 6. All main courses were served except for one, which belonged to the lone vegetarian in our group. We had to keep reminding the staff, and eventually, a waiter sheepishly informed us that her order had not been taken down, and there was no gnocchi left (the only vegetarian option on the menu). The lack of apology and communication was disappointing. 7. The catch of the day, rainbow trout, was overcooked and inedible. 8. We did receive a 25% discount on the bill only after we insisted, and it seemed that no one was particularly concerned about making up for the poor experience. 9. Finally, we had to chase down the staff to pay our bill, despite the restaurant being half empty at the time. Adding a service charge to the bill and questioning us when we declined to pay it was the final straw. The only time someone appeared genuinely sorry was when the waiter who took our payment apologized and hoped we would consider returning in the future (highly unlikely)."

"We have met friends here for lunch a number of times, but this wasn’t our best experience unfortunately. Our table was in a smallish room with low ceiling and families with small children already there not their fault, but the noise level was uncomfortable. Starters were good, but three of us chose beef for the main course and it was poor— very tough and hard to cut, with a lot of fat and gristle. Our waitress was very helpful and reported this to the Manager and then came back to say that we would be given 50% of the cost of the beef meals. That seemed fair, but we’d have preferred to have been able to eat and enjoy it."

"hallo, I spent almost a year and a half with my mother who is 91 straight over the bridge from the hilton garden inn glassgow. I am disabled myself, and mama has lost confidence because the closures have begun. that is, the context of our journey. she mentioned last week that she liked to go over the “’Squinty Bridge” (former name is clyde arc), so...with my beautiful strong neffen pushing her chair we over lunch with the hilton. when we came there, it looked like we couldn't sit in (it was a very hot day, but Kovid rules were on site and place), but we didn't mind that we were out. a nice man named allan, however, saw that mama would not be comfortable, came over and told us that he had a table for us inside. we were thrilled. the excellent attention did not stand there. mama loves fish, but is allergic to alcohol. she can't have the beacon. he ensured that the cook knew this and she was presented with what she called the best fish she had in a long time. (Coming from her, this is an accolade as she is donegal and used to fish directly from the sea into the pan and she is very fussy my nephew and I ordered various burgers. eating was amazing. the service was exceptional and we did not have to rob bank to pay for it. all the facilities were exceptionally clean and as such, and there were various sanitary stations everywhere. I don't think that the personal will know what this little outing meant for the three of us. we are not important people or rich or anything the world could consider with gunst, but we were treated so well by this restaurant. I can't thank them enough. small friendly and respect for all make great differences to the day of men. we will definitely come back. Whether the great shiny hotels around. hotel in berlin inn, you are the best."
