"Additionally, the service was lackluster—he was more focused on leaving us than being attentive to our needs. The wait times were unacceptable, and at one point, he disappeared for a good 15 minutes, leaving us wondering what was happening in the restaurant. We ended up leaving after finishing our first course, as we never received dessert or any drinks after dinner. However, the pizza itself was delicious. If you want to try it, I would recommend ordering in advance and opting for takeout."

"We arrived on time and placed our orders with a staff member about 10 minutes after arriving. However, she forgot to bring our drinks, and we waited over 30 minutes for them. My friend had to approach the waitress to inquire about the drinks. After that, we still didn’t receive our food, and other customers who arrived after us were served first. We ended up waiting more than 1.5 hours for our meals because the waitress had forgotten to submit our order to the kitchen. "Won't be going back to Pizza Express. Booked a table for 5.30 p.m. yesterday for meal with grandchildren before going to Shrek performance at His Majesty's. Order was taken and kids' starters arrived. 3/4 of an hour later and we were still waiting for our main courses. How long can it take to cook a pizza! Eventually we had to draw attention to the fact that we'd had no food. Another 10 minutes passed and still nothing ....... Then we were told it had just gone into the oven so another 5 minutes by which time it was too late. We'd have missed the start of the show (at least that was excellent!! . Fortunately we had some sweets to stave off the pangs of hunger! Shocking."

However, our recent visit to the Holyrood branch was marred by terrible service from a rude and obnoxious server. He was impatient and made dramatic gestures for simple requests, displaying a lack of courtesy and professionalism. When he made an error with my coffee, he expected me to accept it without apology. After I declined, he became argumentative and brought back the same incorrect coffee. The poor service from this individual has deterred me from returning to this particular branch. Additionally, I was displeased to find an automatic service charge added to our bill for our party of eight, as I would have preferred to tip based on my own discretion."

"The food is great, no complaints there at all. It's a lovely restaurant to sit in, with a great view of the water of Leith. The staff are attentive and friendly when they are welcoming you and taking your order. The reason I am only giving three stars is due to the way the staff act with one another when it is not busy within the restaurant. They are very loud and distracting with one another, and this takes away from the relaxing experience of having a lovely meal. This is a shame, as it creates an awkwardness when trying to concentrate on a conversation with your company. So to conclude, I really enjoy Pizza Express as a chain restaurant, but find the nature of the staff to sadly be too unprofessional."
