"Great food, tasty, NOT overly spiced like some place I 've been to that use hot spice to cover poor quality ingredients, I had the meat moussaka and it was very home cooked tasting, perfectly seasoned, the bulgar wheat and rice was beautifully soft and tasty (a touch oily) but delicious. With GOOD portion sizes (for the average person, if you 're a porker then can 't speak for you) not stingy like some places! The bread served with the meal was crispy and soft on the inside really nice with the two sauces it was served with, the salad was tangy and wonderfully seasoned. Some serious sour dressing at the bottom oosh lovely ! The staff were friendly and one particular waitress was wonderfully accommodating, polite and I felt she excelled at her role, I didn 't feel she was being fake 'nice '. Environment was clean well.laid out and nicely separated from the smokey BBQ kitchen area where the delicious food was cooked. Clean toilet! No smell, no **** on the floor, very good! Will visit again. Saturday evening 6PM March 9th 2024."

"Not happy with food or service table was booked online but they couldn't find it when we arrived. However there was plenty of room so not a problem. Two of us had food that was almost cold, within the space of 5 minutes 3 different waiters came across and asked if all was okay. Asked for Horse radish sauce and they didn't seem to know what it was I think they went to the kitchen to find out as it eventually appeared. We should have complained then, however, we were going to the theatre so on a timetable, we had already waited quite considerable time for the meal, considering there were only 14 covers in the restaurant at the time! Not we will not be going back."

"We arrived slightly early so we were there bang on our hour slot. Very friendly staff on arrival and we were taken straight to our seat. After settling in we ordered about 10mins from being seated. 2 other tables around us sat in and around the same time.We ordered our food and drinks and then waited to see all the cats.The majority of the cats were all in the lobby to the toilet and loads of kids then block the entrance making this area very congested.Our real issue was it took 55 minutes for our drinks and food to come out (2 other tables had the same) and one of the cakes was still missing.We were very worried we would be asked to leave only having an hour a slot.Then . . . . Food came out we eat and within 5 mins of finishing we were asked to pay up and leave.59 quid later for 2 , meal deal and an extra drink , very disappointed"

"The service was outstanding, and the food was incredibly delicious. Even though the restaurant was busy, they promptly found us a table. When there was a delay in our meal preparation due to another customer with celiac disease requiring a thorough cleaning between dishes, we hardly noticed it. Our server came over to inform us about the situation and assured us that our food would be ready soon. I didn’t expect such a high level of friendliness and professionalism in a restaurant located in an outlet park, but our experience far exceeded our expectations."

"Booked here for New Year’s Eve as it’s the only place that didn’t do a rip off set menu. Pleasantly surprised. Food was very good in a very authentic French bistro atmosphere. It’s the sort of chain I’d probably normally not bother with but actually the ambiance was lovely, the service fantastic and no pressure to order any more or any less than what you actually want! They laid on Christmas crackers and a sweet buffet for the kids which was a really nice touch. Group of 7 of us with two children, parents and grandparents for dinner, no pressure to leave our table and just generally relaxed and perfect for every age group. Really changed my perceptions of the cafe rouge chain and I’m ashamed at my previous snobbery. Give it a go for any occasion you won’t regret it."

"Generally I love Cafe rouge and we went in to celebrate adopting our children. We had somewhere to go onto and had left an hour and a half for food. The restaurant was really empty but service was so slow that our children did not have time for dessert before we had to leave (this was part of their menu). I oredered the four cheese pancakes. They were obviously pre made and had been microwaved/ baked to within an inch of their lives. They came in a little pot and were both dry and stodgy at the same time. They also came with a tiny tiny salad in a little bowl. No dog cam let ask if we were ok or if our food was ok and overall it was really really disappointing."

"Food was not fresh, lumpy couscous, cold and stodgy potatoes. Nothing like the original cafe rouge, did not represent value for money. Far too expensive for what it was. We would not go there again. A clearly struggling chain with a tiny menu ... strangely enough little was actually French cuisine. Sorry for bad review but that was disappointing and I would really like my money back."

"We used to frequent this restaurant often because of the great food and kid-friendly atmosphere, with quick and friendly staff making it a good value. However, our recent experience on Mother's Day was disappointing. When my wife arrived slightly before me, the manager watched her struggle with a pram and did not offer to help. Additionally, half of the menu items were already sold out by noon. When the food did arrive, my wife's medium steak was overcooked and solid. The server did not address her concerns, and the service was slow overall. We were also overcharged, which I thankfully noticed before paying. It is disappointing to see the decline in the quality of the restaurant, likely due to a change in management. Our experience left us feeling ripped off and put a damper on our special occasion. Unfortunately, we do not plan to return to this restaurant."

"I was very disappointed with my experience at Cafe Rouge in Victoria. As a regular customer of the franchise, I chose this branch as a central meeting place for a group of friends. However, we were unhappy with the cold atmosphere, noisy environment, and lack of service. We waited over an hour for our food without any apology from the staff. I believe it would be best to shut down this branch, as it reflects poorly on the reputation of the other restaurants in the chain."

"Myself and my Husband visited Cafe Rouge, The Mail Box on Saturday 10th September for my Husband's birthday meal.As Always we enjoy the experience very much,as we alway's do. Very friendly attentive staff,and a good choice of food on the menus.Plus because they are one of the group of retaurant's where you can use your Tesco's Club Card Voucher's a meal that should have cost £73.15 cost £33.15! "This place is Awful and has not trained the bouncers at the door how to greet the customers because of whom probably they are getting their salaries from.I and my friends visited this place last night , we forgot our ids so we went home and got the Ids and when went inside.While going inside my friend guy friend was carrying a man bag was told that he’s not allowed to get the bag inside when we asked him for a reason for the same he didn’t answer any thing but at the same time I was allowed with my lady bag in there.We offered him if he can check his bag and allow him inside then but he insisted us to go back hide your man bag inside and then you can enter which is so disrespectful and bad.Then we went inside enjoyed our selves so by the end of time we were leaving the same bouncer who let us in started abusing and assaulting us when we said don’t touch he said “I’ll show you what I can do and even touch you”.He pushed me badly and grabbed my friend’s arm and dragged him out of the club.This incident has shocked me from inside out that what kind of Racist and sexist behaviour is this.For the first time in my life I have seen such heartless behaviour inside a club this is not even human.If a women can get a purse that’s allowed and man cannot isn’t this unfair and sexiest ?? We group of people spent almost 300 pounds in this club and this club gave us a very hard time, forget the service they can’t even match the basic standards on even humanitarian grounds or any place if compared.People who wants to have a good quality time “PLEASE AVOID Going to this bar as this is beyond the expectations of insults and sexism and racism you’ll face in your entire life”.I would never visit this place again and never recommend to my friends."

"The waitress seemed quite helpful when we first arrived but she was very short with my mum when she asked a question, took ages to come back and take our food order after we had ordered drinks and was generally unavailable during our time there this was quite upsetting as it was my daughter's 6th birthday so a special occasion and there were 11 of us there; the restaurant wasn't even busy (there were only about 6 other tables occupied) I found this very unusual for this place, normally really good service (in fact, I went with my daughter the week before which is why she chose that place for her Birthday meal)"

"eating is good and good, although the caffe rouge we visited in oxford (saturday lunchtime, not full), was quite chaotic and with that look not terrible well managed. we explained at the beginning, we had a short time limit of an hour; the food was quickly produced, but when we asked for coffee, they did not come, although the bill containing coffee was quickly produced. we said the coffee just came, but it was not (and the coffee machine area is filled with dirty tassen and no one to take part). then we asked for a adjusted bill and left. not a big complaining, but it could have been handled better."

"My starter was supposed to be Escargots for which I got a plate of garlicky mushrooms with a few tiny pieces of snails, so the dish was completely inaccurate in its description and would most certainly not have been acceptable by French standards. I was told by the waitress that other diners had complained about the dish but I did not get any response from their Head Office which I approached. I won't be going back to Café Rouge !"

"We booked a table at cafe rouge as we had tickets for the theatre nearby. We go to cafe rouge on a regular basis and this was our worst experience by far. The venue itself was nice, lots of glass windows and the usual cafe rouge decor. We ordered bread and olives to start, which were great, but we had issues with the main and pudding courses. We had both ordered steaks to be cooked medium, but when they arrived one was perfect and the other was very well done. They replaced it without a fuss however my partner had finished her meal before my replacement arrived. The replacement was good, but there was no reflection in the bill that we had come out for a meal together and ended up eating alone. We ordered pudding, creme brûlée and chocolate fondant. The chocolate fondant was nothing special, a little dry, but the creme brûlée was awful. The crunchy top had not been made by putting on sugar and then caramelising it; instead they had made caramel in a pan and poured it on. This made it very thick and hard to eat and rather unenjoyable. The service was okay, but we felt the manager was rather inappropriately dressed in a short skirt and sparkly trainers!"

"it was Valentine's Day! needed somewhere locally and for a fast, comfortable meal. to our surprise a musician had been set for the evening and this improved the ambiente so much that we wanted to take our time over the culinary experience. Nevertheless, the employees were too excited to postpone the delivery of the courses and it would have helped them to return a little. the set menu was a real bonus and the selection of food tasted amazing. "I am very happy with the food I had for the first time at nr. 35 mackenzie walk. it looked very good and tasted even better. I was not too sharp on the sausages in the house breakfast, but everything else was delicious and cooked for perfection. beautiful setting, both inside and outside, but we felt that the staff was a little distracted. maybe a stressful Sunday? service was fast, although the restaurant was quite empty. the prices were a little high £13 for eggs royal in a casual room seemed like much, but we had a nice time anyway. all in all, recommended. go back."

"Decided to try here as we were stopping at the Holiday Inn Express. Was surprised to see such a big bar area and a bit disappointed that there were numerous TV screens placed around it all showing football. Whilst this isn't advertised as a Sports Bar , it clearly is which means our table conversation had to compete with the TVs and the cheering guests at times. Surprisingly, the restaurant wasn't very busy and our orders were taken quickly and efficiently by very friendly staff. None of us were disappointed with our food but neither was anyone over the moon; it was just alright. There is an interesting selection of food on offer with a bias towards spicy and the katsu curry seemed a popular choice. We were a bit taken aback by the 10% service charge even though it was discretionary so beware. The staff were very polite and attentive but this may be because they weren't very busy so we'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Overall, this was not an unpleasant experience but I doubt we'll be returning."
