"We were made to feel unwelcome the moment we arrived. Despite having phoned ahead to check they were dog friendly, we were immediately confronted and told our dogs were not allowed in. Neither were muddy boots somewhat strange for a village pub, with no way of cleaning your boots and nowhere to put your boots (I mean genuinely what were we supposed to do... leave our boots outside and our dogs tied up and pray it didn 't rain? And as another commenter made clear, it isn 't exactly the Ritz inside. I mean, I get not wanting to trash your carpet but an outside tap to clean your shoes would surely be better than the ridiculous pantomime of walking in with our socks on. That said having walked for over an hour and a half we were desperate for a pint, so left our boots outside (with our cold friends and went to order at the bar. The barman could not have been more rude he huffed as we ordered multiple Birra Morrettis... as it would take more time. He also seemed furious that one of our party wanted a hot drink... That means I 'll have to go and get the kettle... he growled at this order. Again, really not sure what drinks order would have been acceptable for him? As we sat outside, on a freezing Sunday afternoon in January, I contemplated how long it has been since I received service this mind blowingly awful especially in an age when consumers can so readily share their experiences online. Even now it is hard to comprehend a pun who encouraged you to arrive with dogs, which then barred your entry and seemed disgruntled at our drinks order? To top off this nightmare, the lady behind the bar (who, to her credit, seemed thoroughly embarrassed by the barman 's boorish manner brought us out dog biscuits. So they keep a supply of dog biscuits... but don 't want dogs in their pub (even though if you ask them ahead of time... they do . Yep this all really happened. Needless to say, when enjoying a pint in a cosy village pub with my lovely dog by my feet I will regale the locals with this strange tale and encourage them never ever to visit this pub."

"I don't know where to start with this amazing venue. I got married here in August and every single one of our guests were blown away by Hunters Meet. What makes Hunters Meet special is their quirky venue with lots of character, you instantly get that magical feeling and feel so comfortable there. We knew it was the one straight away. This is a family run business so we got the most amazing personal touch and so many extra special touches that you just don't get with other wedding venues. The owner Brendan, his son Declan and all the staff were incredible, so professional and always around guiding us through the day perfectly and always there if we needed anything. They set everything up for us including our tables, photo booth and big sweet table and it looked amazing. I have never known such passionate and professional staff who we all enjoyed getting to know. Thank you all for everything. I couldn't believe not only the amount of food and drink at our wedding but the quality as well. We had a three course meal for our wedding breakfast and for dessert we had a trio of desserts and they were huge, our guests loved that they could have all three and didnt just have to pick one! The buffet in the evening was also amazing. The food is something everyone looks for at a wedding and it was so important to us and Brendan that everyone was well looked after and to have a huge display at the reception and he did just that! Everyone loved it and said it was the best food they have had at a wedding. Drinks at the bar were really reasonably priced too and not overpriced like some weddings I've been to before, so that also went down really well with our guests! We also loved the fact that the bar and dance floor is all in one area so everyone was together and you dont lose people. The bedrooms were amazing as well and you didnt have far to walk to your room which was great if anyone needed to pop to their room quickly, it was so convenient for everyone. On our wedding night we stayed in the bridal suite which was beautiful and I got ready there with my bridesmaids and mum in the morning too. It had a beautiful conservatory which could easily fit all of us plus more family that came to see me before the wedding. We were really lucky and had great weather on our wedding day and the perfect temperature so we had our wedding outside in the beautiful big gazebo which was our dream come true. Everyone loved being outside in the big beautiful garden. The staff gave our guests the famous hunters meet cocktail when they arrived and after the ceremony they served a mixture of summer drinks including prosecco, cocktails, bucks fizz and pimms and the famous hunters meet cocktail which was all perfect for a summer wedding! The staff said they enjoyed our wedding as much as we did and said it was the best wedding they have ever had which was amazing to hear! We played our last song of the night at midnight and they were happy for us to play it again because no one wanted the night to end! We can't wait to come back and see our plaque in the gazebo with our names and wedding date engraved, which again is another example of some of the amazing personal touches that you get with Hunters Meet. We honestly can't recommend Hunters Meet enough to anyone, it's just perfect. Thank you for giving us our dream wedding!"
