"We were made to feel unwelcome the moment we arrived. Despite having phoned ahead to check they were dog friendly, we were immediately confronted and told our dogs were not allowed in. Neither were muddy boots somewhat strange for a village pub, with no way of cleaning your boots and nowhere to put your boots (I mean genuinely what were we supposed to do... leave our boots outside and our dogs tied up and pray it didn 't rain? And as another commenter made clear, it isn 't exactly the Ritz inside. I mean, I get not wanting to trash your carpet but an outside tap to clean your shoes would surely be better than the ridiculous pantomime of walking in with our socks on. That said having walked for over an hour and a half we were desperate for a pint, so left our boots outside (with our cold friends and went to order at the bar. The barman could not have been more rude he huffed as we ordered multiple Birra Morrettis... as it would take more time. He also seemed furious that one of our party wanted a hot drink... That means I 'll have to go and get the kettle... he growled at this order. Again, really not sure what drinks order would have been acceptable for him? As we sat outside, on a freezing Sunday afternoon in January, I contemplated how long it has been since I received service this mind blowingly awful especially in an age when consumers can so readily share their experiences online. Even now it is hard to comprehend a pun who encouraged you to arrive with dogs, which then barred your entry and seemed disgruntled at our drinks order? To top off this nightmare, the lady behind the bar (who, to her credit, seemed thoroughly embarrassed by the barman 's boorish manner brought us out dog biscuits. So they keep a supply of dog biscuits... but don 't want dogs in their pub (even though if you ask them ahead of time... they do . Yep this all really happened. Needless to say, when enjoying a pint in a cosy village pub with my lovely dog by my feet I will regale the locals with this strange tale and encourage them never ever to visit this pub."

We found this to he a very welcoming and friendly pub. The steak and ale pie was the best I’ve ever had. Will definitely be back next time we are in the area. View menu

Superb Sunday lunch today, an excellent choice of roasts, beautifully cooked, large selection of fresh vegetables and a fantastic choice of cheeses on the cheese board. Completed with a splendid glass of Malbec. Could not have enjoyed it more. Well worth a visit.

Moved into the village in Oct and have been waiting to sample the Sunday lunch which had an amazing reputation it delivered and lived up to it! Between our party we had all the meats and they were all tender and flavourful great portions and veg selection, superb.

No matter how many times we visit a warm welcome is assured. The service and super food make this place a firm favourite. Nothing ever seems too much trouble for the landlord/landlady or staff in this quaint village pub and in this weather the cosy fire is a real bonus. Cannot rate here highly enough. View menu

The pie was fantastic. I had the Steak Stilton pie with homemade chips. The service was friendly and welcoming. This place is not as upscale as AllBarOne or as cheap as Wetherspoon's, but it's better than both. It's a proper pub with delicious pies. They also have vegetarian options such as a veggie burger and fish. The prices range from £10-£20 per person.

Hard to choose what's best about this pub, whether it's the way Steve keeps the beer or the way Rachel makes the pies. Incidentally we have been walking over the fields to the Lamb for nearly 40 years and as my parents would say manners cost nothing, We always take off our muddy boots, see photo below taken on boxing day 2013. We are always warmly welcomed as we enter the Lamb without muddy boots.

"Absolutely average restaurant. Dirty bamboo table mats and super dirty windows, kinda sad to look out of them. Impatient service, who under 6 minutes 5 times came back trying to pressure me to take my order. I was confused as I thought it was a restaurant not a fast food place. Silly me who used to live in Japan though the menu is just like there, with pictures. How wrong I was...So getting my phone to have a look at their website, what kinda different that in the restaurant menu card one. When I tried to ask for reconditions, I didn't get any, she just straight away took the last what I asked. The steamed algae was very nice, but my noodle soup was a big surprise, as I have no idea what's roasted (burned) pepper and massive chunks of onions doing there? It's supposed to be sea food, but instead just some burned vegetables scared with frozen octopus, mussels and mini calamari rings poured up with chicken broth. So yeah, kinda disappointing. Drink wise I asked the waitress do they have any tonic water as it isn't listed on the menu card, she looked at me like I am a weirdo. I asked for Roku gin what is my favourite. On the receipt was counted as an extra pound because Japanese. Lol, no comment. Getting the drinks, from other restaurants you get the spirit on the rocks in the glass and front of you they pouring the mixer drink from the mini bottle. Here not, just straight away together as it comes. Oh and don't bother asking without lemon, because you are getting one either way. So Akasaka restaurant did not become my favourite one. Once and last. Easily can be forgotten. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £20–30 Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4"
