"I had a great experience at Yates while out shopping with my partner. We were looking for a place to escape the bad weather and found the perfect refuge at Yates. The customer service was excellent, starting with the lovely lady, Ange, who helped us choose the best cider from their Lilleys range. Jamie, a friendly and engaging young man, guided us on where to sit and which sports were being shown. I even saw him running around in the kitchen, yet he still went out of his way to ensure we had a great experience. The burgers were delicious too! We will definitely be returning to Yates for the warm welcome and delicious food."

"This restaurant is a bit difficult to review. Considering the price, I'd rate it four stars—fantastic value for money! Our meal and two large drinks only came to £25. However, I was disappointed to find that the pie was not the same as the one shown in the menu. The chips were also a letdown, as they tasted like cheap frozen ones and were still slightly icy. On the plus side, the option to choose three small plates (starters) for £10 (or five for £13) is a great way to sample different flavors. The beef was, well, beef—only a small portion had some inedible fat. The atmosphere is nice, with simple British pub vibes. It was pleasant and clean, with early 2000s music playing softly in the background and lighting on the darker side, which I personally prefer."

"It's a great atmosphere and I really do love this pub since they have embraced the sports bar thing but management needs to put more staff on as I was there on a Saturday with 1 person behind each bar and 1 person running food, it was chaos- I commend the staff for their resilience but there needs to be more people on. "my family was in Edinburgh to sprinkle the ashes of our mother back on arthur seat. it is the birthday of our mother, we couldn't change the date. Although with the play-off finale at wembley and we NFFC season ticket holder, the biggest game in 30...years we can not thank dave and his employees enough to offer us a private room to watch the game on a big tw and let us celebrate the victor in style. many noises that emulsify from the úm and not a complaining. the beer was beautiful and the food was also very good. I can only describe the day as unbelievable and will call again in this pub in any case if in edinburgh and would recommend it to others. many thanks, dave and all their friendly staff."

"2 for 1 cocktails, when you order the same drink... Happy with that really. The 'cocktail ' was just vodka, ice and mixer though, which was not what the menu described but it quenched the thirst and kept us satisfied in the heat. We were sat in the beer garden for about 2 hours on a super busy, steaming hot Saturday and the tables seemed to turn over quite frequently, making it a great spot for a few drinks before dinner."

However, I had a recent experience with my friend where our order was incorrect, and I was unexpectedly refused alcohol due to being perceived as underage—it's baffling, considering I clearly don’t look anywhere near that young. I voiced my concern to the bartender, who has seen me there before, and thankfully, I was able to get my drink. Plus, since it was my friend's birthday, they surprised us with a complimentary bottle of champagne, which was a lovely touch! I would definitely recommend this place for the tasty £1.99 meals.
