"It was as if the owner googled Mexican stereotypes and decided to place it as a tex mex place. Sombreros everywhere, the mascots on the kids meals dressed in stereotypes. It’s pretty offensive. The kids meal says ‘learn Mexican’ as if Mexican is a language? That’s news to me. Also tex mex food shouldn’t be this dry. The soft shell taco was hard. A SOFT SHELL FLOUR TACO the Mexican rice was rice but not Tex Mex at all. Service was slow like super slow and I can’t begin to understand why. Also jambalaya isn’t Tex Mex. I can excuse bad food but not the blatant disregard for culture."

"I honestly don’t think we have ever had such nice food in our life’s!! We stayed over in the accommodation Saturday until Sunday we were very lucky to get a table for on the Saturday night and you do normally have to book that’s how good the place is. Also it shows how Lauren and her team will do anything to help and accommodate you! We had prawn cocktail to start my husband had a mushroom and cheese sauce both amazing then we had ribeye steak both cooked amazing… Sunday we loved the steak that much we had it again amazing.. this place is so so special, Lauren, Rachel, Lois.. and the team thank you so very much for accommodating us and looking after us through out…. Sorry if I was abit annoying I don’t get out much especially with the kids… I drink gin like it’s going out of fashion .. thank you all so much Money well spent! It was worth every penny…. Everyone needs a Durham ox in there life’s!!! And everyone needs people like you lot! Always happy.. always talk to people regardless of the time of day or night.. so kind lovely people!! And you will help anyone who asks… people like you are never forgotten! The whole experience was just incredible.. my mum always used to say you get what you pay for… and you certainly do at the Durham ox the food and service is outstanding Cannot wait to come again and thank you all merry Christmas!!!! "While not exclusively a gluten-free establishment, this French bistro is excellent at accommodating dietary needs. The staff is knowledgeable about the ingredients in their dishes and can confirm which items are gluten-free. I have enjoyed delicious gravy, fries (make sure to check if the fryer is gluten-free that day), and their chocolate dessert. I have dined here multiple times and have not experienced any issues with gluten contamination."

"the room was a good size and clean. windows single glazed, so could hear all the traffic. the bathroom was presented clean and intelligent, but it was missing somewhere to put your own care products etc. shower worked well. the television was a large size in the room and easy to observe. good equipment with additional bonus of replacement stepp, if cold, was not needed as a room nice tempo, hair dryer, water cooker and free cookies. the breakfast was good. had dinner on Sunday evening, that was ok but expensive for quality. total good stay and good location to reach the city, alnwick castle and gardens."

"The small entrance door belie a much larger and welcoming interior. You can sit by a window or down in the vaulted basement which we quite liked. The Brunch menu caters for most tastes and is good value. Service is friendly and pleasant but could be a bit stretched if the restaurant was running at capacity. It has a bit of an Ivy feel about it but more accessible and affordable. Its worth seeing what the daily specials are as we`ve ended up ordering this rather than the set brunch menu. Lunch and dinner menus looked good value. Great for a birthday or Christmas outing. All in all an enjoyable way to spend some time taking the ambience in. A worthy addition to the Cowbridge food scene."

"Enjoyed a dinner for two last Saturday night. There was a good number of tables serving couples and small groups and then one large table of or so. Good atmosphere, lovely decor. Starter and mains were slow coming but myself and hubby were not in any rush so this was not a complaint for us. Food was very tasty for starters we the ham hock with nice pickled veg and the ribs which were a very generous size. Mains then fillet steak surf turf and ribeye steak, both cooked as ordered and we found the sides of fries and veg good. Dessert then we shared the triple chocolate gateaux which was delicious. Overall very good meal"

"It was Friday evening and the restaurant was half empty, which sent alarm bells. I was expecting exceptional food. It was okay, some dishes were very good, but my main was underwhelming, and deserts average ….we had the tasting menu and wine to go along side. I wouldn’t suggest doing the wine, portions were minimal for a hefty £75 per person) Meal came to £400 for two and we left feeling dissatisfied. We did mention to the manager that we were a little disappointed and she kindly removed the service charge. We won’t recommend this place nor go back, which is unfortunate."

"Booked as a Mothers Day celebration because there were no bookings available at the weekend. Had told my Mother that it was excellent, my favourite restaurant, the best place for miles for fillet steak etc etc. She was really looking forward to it. However, the...meal arrived on a cool plate, the chips were lukewarm, as was the steak and the onion loaf was cold. It was 6pm and the place was practically deserted with only 2 other people awaiting their meal. We sent both meals back and they returned at exactly the same temperature, except that the chips were now hot. We complained to the waitress and her reply was that she had seen the chips come out of the fryer. The two ladies at the next table also complained that their meal was not hot and they were given fresh chips. We then left as we felt that we were not going to receive a hot meal. We had both ordered fillet steak at a considerable but acceptable cost for a good quality meal, but not for food that was not hot. I have eaten there regularly since it opened but shall not do so again."

"I have eaten at The Queens Head many times, but on this occasion the Service was appalling, I had to ask for side plates three times before they arrived, we brought our daughter in law who enjoys Rose wine we asked the person taking our order if they could recommend one out of the two Rose wines that was dry, to be advised that they did not know so we had to google from our table to find out. When our dinner arrived we had to highlight something that was missing from my granddaughters dinner order to be told that , that was not the case but then advised so the missing item was brought to the table. I genuinely do not mind be charged for Service, but only good Service, £17.00 for appalling Service is a stretch. Parking: Had to park at least 150 metres from the pub not ideal when bringing a child Kid-friendliness: Staff to be clear on child’s men when items are missing"

"We popped in thinking we 'd like a cocktail before meeting friends for dinner. First warning sign was asking for a straight vodka martini, and the barman saying he can 't make one (really? ! And can only make what 's on the menu. Their martini was full of extra fruit and vanilla flavoring, so passed on that. We went for Cosmopolitans instead, the menu suggested that would be pretty close to what a cosmo is sposed to be. It arrived, and I 'm really not sure if it had any alcohol in it, seemed to be just sugar and grapefruit juice. Having drunk copious Cosmopolitans and Vodka martinis in NYC, I know what I 'm sposed to be getting, and this was very much not it. At 14£ per cocktail they are taking the proverbial."

"Last time we attended Ora we had a great meal, this time it was poor , my wife had prawns there were 4 prawns at £7.95, wrong. For main I had roast beef, my wife had burger, my beef was chewy, I did state this to the waitress who replied you should have asked how you wanted it rare or medium, in my opinion the waitress should have asked me how I wanted my beef, the vegetables were nice but a very small portion, the potatoes tasted as though they had been reheated , the waitress cleared my wife’s starter before I had finished, my Yorkshire pudding was soggy, Im sorry but did not enjoy my experience this time, my wife thought the burger she had for mains was poor last time my wife had the burger she said it was the best she had had, we were not asked if we wanted any sauces, the owners were good but the waitress seemed inexperienced . Very disappointed."

"My friend and I went for afternoon tea before Christmas. We were greeted and seated by friendly staff. The waiter fully explained the afternoon tea menu and we made our tea selections. The thing that I like about this afternoon tea is that you get two of everything so that both of you get to try everything on offer. I have had afternoon tea in other places where you only get one of everything and you have to cut them in half in order to be able to taste them all. The selection of sandwiches was interesting and some not to my taste but this is personal. Trying to pay the bill at the end was slightly problematic and it felt like we struggled to get anyone’s attention once we were ready to leave. This meant that we ended up approaching a member of staff to pay on the way out as we waited a long time after asking two members of staff for the bill. It was a pleasant experience but not the best or worst afternoon tea we have had, we would recommend and return."

"We visited this restaurant for our anniversary dinner and were attended to all evening by Danny. Danny provided excellent service, going above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience and answering all our menu-related questions. The steaks were cooked perfectly, although the prices are on the higher side, the quality of the food is always exceptional at Miller and Carter. I highly recommend this place for special occasions. 5 stars. Thank you, Danny!"

"I took my wife to The Niche for her birthday dinner. The staff were very helpful and friendly and went above and beyond the call of duty to make the night very special. Nice prawns starter but both our meat main courses (chicken and lamb) were very overcooked and dry, almost certainly pre-cooked and then re-done. Seems unnecessary as we were the only diners in for lunch. Service was fine, nice surroundings, but doesn't quite meet expectations."
