"If you want to have a Sundays style slap on your plate steak go here. Even after telling the manager I don’t want my food to be piled up on the plate and stacked I still got it stacked and every time I moved my food everything was falling of the plate a proper overspill. Will never recommend anyone going here again. Nayim you was missed I think your only guy who knows how steak should be served. Didn’t enjoy at all as it was like my food came out of a car crash. I wanted fine dine in steak as you charge not Tobys Carvery for the fine dining price."

"I don't even know where to begin. The food at this restaurant is absolutely delicious, especially the lobster mac n cheese and the Sunday roast. However, I have had multiple issues with the booking process. Three times now, my reservation has either been cancelled or moved. Despite dining here before and recommending it to my friends, I was disappointed to arrive for Sunday lunch and find out that my reservation had been double booked. Most recently, my friend made a reservation for us only to be told two days before our booking that we had been moved to another location due to another booking. This experience speaks volumes. If you walk in and find a table available, enjoy your meal. But if you plan on booking in advance, be prepared for possible disappointment."

"I honestly don’t think we have ever had such nice food in our life’s!! We stayed over in the accommodation Saturday until Sunday we were very lucky to get a table for on the Saturday night and you do normally have to book that’s how good the place is. Also it shows how Lauren and her team will do anything to help and accommodate you! We had prawn cocktail to start my husband had a mushroom and cheese sauce both amazing then we had ribeye steak both cooked amazing… Sunday we loved the steak that much we had it again amazing.. this place is so so special, Lauren, Rachel, Lois.. and the team thank you so very much for accommodating us and looking after us through out…. Sorry if I was abit annoying I don’t get out much especially with the kids… I drink gin like it’s going out of fashion .. thank you all so much Money well spent! It was worth every penny…. Everyone needs a Durham ox in there life’s!!! And everyone needs people like you lot! Always happy.. always talk to people regardless of the time of day or night.. so kind lovely people!! And you will help anyone who asks… people like you are never forgotten! "The small entrance door belie a much larger and welcoming interior. You can sit by a window or down in the vaulted basement which we quite liked. The Brunch menu caters for most tastes and is good value. Service is friendly and pleasant but could be a bit stretched if the restaurant was running at capacity. It has a bit of an Ivy feel about it but more accessible and affordable. Its worth seeing what the daily specials are as we`ve ended up ordering this rather than the set brunch menu. Lunch and dinner menus looked good value. Great for a birthday or Christmas outing. All in all an enjoyable way to spend some time taking the ambience in. A worthy addition to the Cowbridge food scene."

"despite the reservation in advance, the waitress would not allow us to sit on the table of the choice, saying that another party had booked it, it was the same size table as the one she gave us, and it was not specifically requested. there was a set three course menu and we were not given the choice of a two course menu at a reduced price, so were forced to have three courses if we did not want them two dessert options were sold out at 2.30 a.m., which meant that we had to choose what we did not want it to take a very long time and at earlier visit it was the same to get someone the attention bill. While I appreciate that, there was a busy day (fatherday) there were many employees, but they concentrated on the service at the bar instead of tables because of the above, it will not be my restaurant of choice again."

"Booked because of the 2 course for £15 deal which is excellent quality and value. Be aware that you cannot get a bottle of wine under £30! But if you choose sensibly it is still quite a good deal. Service is quite pretentious -we had our dessert interrupted 3 times by 3 different members of staff asking us if we wanted tea/coffee. I felt they wanted to hurry us out of there. I also felt that the £15 set meal people (which most of us were on a Saturday lunchtime) were slightly looked down on. Not sure why they make a thing of calling the restaurant after the old Scotland Yard number which was never known as one twenty one two. It was always known as Whitehall 1212; if the restaurant had been so named, people would recognise it immediately."

"I have eaten at The Queens Head many times, but on this occasion the Service was appalling, I had to ask for side plates three times before they arrived, we brought our daughter in law who enjoys Rose wine we asked the person taking our order if they could recommend one out of the two Rose wines that was dry, to be advised that they did not know so we had to google from our table to find out. When our dinner arrived we had to highlight something that was missing from my granddaughters dinner order to be told that , that was not the case but then advised so the missing item was brought to the table. I genuinely do not mind be charged for Service, but only good Service, £17.00 for appalling Service is a stretch. Parking: Had to park at least 150 metres from the pub not ideal when bringing a child Kid-friendliness: Staff to be clear on child’s men when items are missing"

"the room was a good size and clean. windows single glazed, so could hear all the traffic. the bathroom was presented clean and intelligent, but it was missing somewhere to put your own care products etc. shower worked well. the television was a large size in the room and easy to observe. good equipment with additional bonus of replacement stepp, if cold, was not needed as a room nice tempo, hair dryer, water cooker and free cookies. the breakfast was good. had dinner on Sunday evening, that was ok but expensive for quality. total good stay and good location to reach the city, alnwick castle and gardens."

"Three of us chose the new wagyu beef burgers but were disappointed the taste seemed like regular burgers. We wanted them cooked medium but that was not possible according to management. Other food options were good with excellent presentation. Seemingly an isolated large place in a small village yet quite close and easy to find but you have to navigate a one way system. We would definitely go back but avoid the wagyu beef. This would make a good place to visit regularly."

"Myself and my partner had a Sunday roast each here yesterday. We both had pork belly starter which was absolutely gorgeous and cannot be faulted. I had the roast beef lunch whilst my partner had the lamb. Both our dinners were nice but the roast potatoes felt like they’d been re-heated after being left standing for a while. I had a couple of Peroni’s and neither of us had desert but the bill still came to £97. The starters were £11 each and as I say, we couldn’t fault them but £25 for a roast dinner seems and was steep for the size of meal we received. They were tasty but I don’t think they were £25 tasty. The place itself is a nice setting and the atmosphere was decent, though."

"So disappointed had high hopes for this restaurant as it was quite hard to book a table. Not sure the staff wanted to be there on a Sunday afternoon as they just didn’t seem to want to serve you or talk to you. Had to ask to be served a drink. Hardly any atmosphere in such a nicely designed restaurant could be overcome with staff that really go that extra mile and deliver a fun, informative service but it was all a bit underwhelming. Food was hot and T bone steak cooked as requested. Ribs fell off the bone which meant that they were overcooked and ended up as a pile of mush on my plate, not to mention that they had not been trimmed properly with a great deal of fat remaining on the top. The chicken wings were also overcooked and again literally fell off the bone, the sauces were tasty though. Chips and slaw were edible. All in all a very disappointing dinner and won’t be back."

The staff is knowledgeable about the ingredients in their dishes and can confirm which items are gluten-free. I have enjoyed delicious gravy, fries (make sure to check if the fryer is gluten-free that day), and their chocolate dessert. I have dined here multiple times and have not experienced any issues with gluten contamination."

"Enjoyed a dinner for two last Saturday night. There was a good number of tables serving couples and small groups and then one large table of or so. Good atmosphere, lovely decor. Starter and mains were slow coming but myself and hubby were not in any rush so this was not a complaint for us. Food was very tasty for starters we the ham hock with nice pickled veg and the ribs which were a very generous size. Mains then fillet steak surf turf and ribeye steak, both cooked as ordered and we found the sides of fries and veg good. Dessert then we shared the triple chocolate gateaux which was delicious. Overall very good meal"

"I absolutely adore this place! It's a beautiful spot to relax and enjoy some peace. While there are a few changes that could help improve their business, I would still rate it a perfect 10 out of 10. The fact that there’s no football on is a big plus for me. "Visiting Crewe with my wife we decided to take an early lunch at Miller and Carter. Our choice of restaurant being influenced by an earlier experience at the Telford outlet. Receiving a warm greeting from Reception we were shown to our table by David, who was to be our server throughout the meal. The Fixed Price Menu seemed to meet our needs and we ordered starters of salt and pepper calamari and sticky chipotle chicken. The main course being two 7 oz Rump steaks, one served with a mixed salad and the other with onion loaf, tomato, and seasoned fries. Drinks comprised a glass of a very pleasing South African merlot and a Fevertree tonic water. The meal met with our expectations and the steaks (cooked medium) had just the right degree of pinkness. The dishes were well prepared, nicely presented, and the steaks in particular were full of flavour. Competitively priced at £16.25 per head for a 2-course lunch, or £19.25 if wanting a dessert, we thought it represented very good value for money. The restaurant gave out a pleasant ambience and the spacious seating ensured comfort in just the right setting. Mention should also be made of the washroom facilities which were as to be expected. Having spent a good number of years in Hospitality Management I could not fault our young attendant David, who we both thought performed his tasks to a high standard. Happy to recommend."

"Had dinner here 30th June 2023 by way of celebration for our son graduating from Queens University, his choice! We have been before as often as we can being from distant Tyrone and quite simply are never disappointed! Warmly welcomed as always, usual dilemma of what to choose for my wife and son and straight down to business. We all enjoyed a simple pre starter with our drinks and then ordered. We all had the tempura prawns and vegetables which were simply exquisite before devouring haddock in my case, risotto with scallops for my son and the boss had a piece of baked cod which looked monumental! The Deane lager is to die for, as is the house rose and a stinking good coffee to finish! All enjoyed under the ever watchful eye of the owner who patrolled religiously as he always seems to do. Not hard to see why standards are maintained and cannot wait to return again as we undoubtedly shall. Not in any rush to take payment and get you out either. Superb meal, many thanks! Oh and by the way, I am not a fish lover normally, but I will happily make an exception for excellence!"

"We went here for my friend's baby shower. The food was tasty and well presented. The food were set on a bench which was really cute and I could say very Instagramable. The entire set serves 2 which costs £22/head, is a good value for money as it includes a drink as well. I wasn't able to finished the cakes so they brought out some boxes for us which is really nice of them as with some restaurants, you'll be embarrassed to ask for the left overs to be taken home. So, kudos to the staff for this additional service as the cakes are so delicious we don't want to go on a waste. And last but not the least, staff are really friendly and accommodating. Thank you for a nice chatter!"
