"'Fantastic flavour and great location '<br <br Date of Visit: 15.02.18<br <br Time: 7.00pm<br <br Review: When i first looked at the menu i was a little concerned as i am not keen on fish i thought i might be limited to choice but i was pleasantly surprised. But i will say vegetarians will have a more limited experience here with only a few options available. I have always liked Kingly Court but even after having an office moments away for 6 years i never ventured to the upper areas in the food courtyard. It was a cold evening but you feel very welcomed as soon as you enter but don’t get a seat next to the door as the waiting area is right by the door and people tend to leave it open when they walk in or wait. Service was good and attentive with a full description of the menu given if required and recommendations also given. It is nice when the service knows the food, it gives you some comfort. Drinks arrive promptly but the food arrived a little more hap hazard but without too much of a delay. The portions are all small but what we ordered was enough for 2 but you will need to make a selection not rely on filling up with one or two items only. The food although came at a reasonable time was not hot and so i would say you need to eat first and talk later. I was not expecting much but i must say i was pleasantly surprised as each dish arrived it was tasty and a pallet i was not used to. Each dish went back empty. Everything was cooked to perfection.  <br <br Dress Code: Casual<br <br Booking Process: Very easy via open table and resturant called me on the day to confirm and was able to bring the time forward from 9pm to 7pm so again I would advise you book direct rather than going through the app as you may get a time you wish. <br <br Location: Kingly St, Soho, London W1B 5PW<br <br Cuisine Type: Peruvian ceviche and a menu with Japanese and Chinese twists<br <br Parking: There is an NCP down the road but this is Soho so would advise using London Transport. <br <br Decor Lighting: Nice comfortable padded bench seating with nice traditional decor and open kitchen. Well light <br <br Heating and Cooling: <br <br Ambience Acoustics: It was loud, not so the music but bad acoustics with so many people talking you had to really raise your voice to be heard. This is not the place for a quite talk in the evening but a nice place still for a good meal and to go as a group. <br <br DB Level: Sorry i did not take a reading and wish I did.<br <br Drinks: LIMA LEMONADE (Lime, sugar, mint, soda) Great refreshing taste that i had to have two. <br <br Food: <br <br QUINOA CROQUETAS (Quinoa and cheddar croquettas with aji rocotto and pineapple salsa) Great crispy coating and not too cheesy, could not taste the pineapple though in the salsa but well seasoned. <br <br COLIFLOR QUEMADA (Burnt cauli ower with aji limo and piquillo pepper salsa and sesame soured cream) Another good dish but less flavoursome than the croquetas and could do with some more kick to the sauce which was mild. <br <br SUPER POLLO (Marinated and grilled corn fed chicken leg with rocotto salsa) Great grilled chicken which was chargrilled and succulent and well cooked. Great dish and worth trying. <br <br FLAT IRON Y NIKKEI UCHUCUTA (Papaya marinated at iron steak with pickled shiitake mushroom and uchucuta sauce) Cooked as requested medium to well and arrived as requested. Small slices but well portioned and the pickled mushrooms added a tang to the dish which tasted like a sour spinach but went really well with the dish to add some spice and flavour which i have never tasted before. <br <br PATATAS FRITAS (Sweet potato fries with aji rocotto mayonnaise) Probably the best sweet potato fries i have ever had with a great mayonnaise.   <br <br FRIJOLES NEGROS (Black beans, smoked bacon, burnt <br aubergine, aji panca, pineapple and sour cream) I could not taste the pineapple or the bacon but added some accompaniment to the selection. I cannot think really of any negative points. <br <br Desert: PERUVIAN PROFITEROLES (Sweet potato pro teroles lled with lime crème anglais and dulce de leche sauce) You get three so if there are two best to eat quick so you don’t have to share the third one. It was a nice end to the meal.<br <br Bill Cost: £80.00 (For two with drinks)<br <br Conclusion: Another recommended resturant worth trying as you will fill your pallet with new tastes and also it is fun to have small portions such as those served but where you can have multiple dishes. I will be looking to go again. Service was also great and menu fully explained and quick service. <br <br Rating: 8.0 out of 10.0"

"We had an 8pm reservation and arrived a couple of minutes beforehand. Despite being able to find the reservation in the system, there was no table for us until 8.20pm. In the meantime, another party with a later reservation came in and was seated. I appreciate that their party was larger and was therefore given the larger table that became available first, but still think it reflects poorly on the restaurant that they weren’t organised for a booking. The staff were polite and briefly apologetic but didn’t seem too bothered by their error. The food itself was good. We had tempura prawns to start, which came with a delicious dipping sauce. I then had a fillet steak for my main course. I ordered rare but what I received was more akin to medium rare and even medium in parts. Only the very middle was rare. This might be due to the ‘tall’ nature of the cut (see pictures). The medium rare ribeye was good. The sides were huge. We barely finished the truffle chips between us. The mac ‘n’ cheese was OK – I would have preferred it without the crumb topping as in my opinion it has no place in the dish. It was described on the menu as having this though, so I knew what I was getting myself into. The service was mostly good, though there was one member of the wait staff who seemed a bit out of their depth. They were very young and I think perhaps new. Luckily it was very quiet (I think we were the last table seated that evening, so by the time we were onto our mains, the place was dead) so this wasn’t much of a problem. There is just one toilet, an accessible bathroom and baby change combo. I was disappointed to see the emergency pull cord tied up out of reach, rendering the bathroom unsuitable for some disabled customers. The bathroom in general was not overly clean and in need of refurbishment. In my experience, the place is not deserving of the current 4.3 star Google or 4.5 star Trip Advisor ratings, but has potential if management can sort out the issues listed above. I would like to score 3.5 but as this is not possible, I am going to round down on this occasion."
