"The food was incredibly delicious. Unfortunately, when we visited on Friday evening around 7 PM, they had run out of roasted duck, which was disappointing since we were eager to try it. We did try the beef, which was fantastic. However, the noodles served as a side were overly salty and rich, which overshadowed the beef. The portions were quite large; we could barely finish half of the noodles between the two of us. Also, at over £9, we felt that the noodles were quite expensive."

"Three ladies who love to lunch visited for the first time, and were not disappointed. Have told several people how good the food was. Had three courses, bottle of wine between us and coffee and mints to follow, cost including optional service (service was excellent) came to £42 a head. Not our cheapest lunch out ever, but well worth it for the quality of the food. Will definitely return for an evening visit next time the do Steak Nights on Wednesday, which look really good value."

"I was very disappointed that they got the job wrong and gave me sweet potatoes (which I couldn't eat) instead of the vegan baked rolls I was looking forward to the experiment. their Cheesy chips had a teespoon size of sprinkle rubber cheese, I had to add my own and heat them up. the same went for the pizza, very little cheese, chewing teig and very limp looking and tasting veg. they were also half an hour too late. not recommended."

"My mum and I visited for a spa day last week and it was absolutely fantastic. The overall experience from when we arrived at reception through to the end was first class. The spa was wonderful. I had the most amazing treatment from Emma! I also had dealings with a lady called Audrey who was so friendly and helpful throughout our whole time being there. "AVOID THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU WANT FOOD POSIONING !!! Xen Noodle Bar Used to be the place to go what has happened ! Terrible experience ! Where to start When got seated we noticed the tables were filthy the floors were matching to, bits of food everywhere dead flys on the lighting the seats were all cracked and fabric missing, at this point we should of just left ! But we didn’t we placed our order and then the girl who was working told us the card machine was playing up and could we pay by bank transfer what at this point I didn’t mind, it was only when another couple walked in ordered they didn’t mention anything about there card machine not working to them so they must of thought we looked like we came from a certain community ! Then the food comes honestly this was terrible the plates were cold dirty underneath ! The food looked like it had been just sat there and dumped on the plate. We had to complain as it was luke warm and really just awful, the girl who told us the card machine was broke had left at this point and we spoke to another member of staff who tried to charge us for the meal again and we told her no we have already paid as the other member of staff told us the card machine was playing up and she said that nothing was wrong with the machine ! We did get refunded for one of the meals starters but I think the only reason they did this with ease was due to the local council food hygiene officer was doing a inspection at that moment in time."

"We went to the restaurant with our kids for breakfast, hoping to enjoy pancakes and sweet dim sum. Unfortunately, we were informed that those items were out of stock, and the kids weren't really interested in the savory breakfast options. I would have expected that they would have enough ingredients prepared for a full breakfast service! Additionally, there was only one flavor of bubble tea available, which was another item we were specifically looking forward to. Although we still had a pleasant visit, it was a bit disappointing to learn that half of the menu wasn’t available."

"honey-glazed bbq huh served with oyster sauce noodles: £7.95 ice lemon tea: £1.95 it's such a happy moment when you find Halal food, that's not garbage food and that's exactly what happened today. I was out of the shopping and came over lotus leaf and decided to go for something familar that was the bun and noodle. my quality was so delicious! the chicken was too perfection, tender and soft boiled, I could cut it through without a fight. also the bbq aroma was not overwhelming, it was perfectly seasoned. I never had a oyster walnut, so I was curious to try. at the first bite it tasted salty, but the more you had it, the better it became. it was nothing special about taste, but it was delicious. the noodles were not too healthy, definitiw properly cooked. the icy lemon tea is something I didn't taste before today and it's definitiv something I would do again. it was such a refreshing drink, perfect for the weather of today. presentation wise, guard from the personal. there was a huge hurry, as it was the midday rush, but its presentation was spot on. although there was so much sauce, there was not a spot of it on the side - fully impressed! I also liked the little cups they served the drink. very sweet! also give them a summer as a device that flashes when you eat ready, rather quirky me thinks! service was also great, had no long wait time and the server was super friendly. all in all, go to lotus leaf menschen! "Went here today with friends and had a lovely lunch. Not busy at all so not a great deal of atmosphere. Hope it’s not all the scary news stories. The tables were well placed out, the service was excellent. We had the croquettes to start..., simply delicious , we often bring them back fro Spanish markets (well did) these we on par. Great wine choices . Mains were all great , the burger was delicious, the salmon a great choice, the sausage and mash amazingly presented. They accommodated the older guests with child sized portion desserts. Love it here the staff were brilliant, as was the food. Well done we will be back, hopefully others will too."

"Four of us ordered the Sunday roast, two Lambs, one beef and the lentil cake. All four meals were beautifully presented and very tasty. We were meeting up with an old friend we hadn’t seen for ages and we had such a good time, we all enjoyed our food and “forced” ourselves to have desert and coffee to finish off the lunch. In fact we enjoyed it so much we have booked to go back on 15th! Definitely recommend this place."

"I visited this restaurant for the second time and the first visit was flawless with excellent food and lovely friendly service. However, this time I was a little disappointed with both the food and prices. I ordered spare ribs for £8 and only received 3 ribs, which I felt was a bit expensive. My husband ordered roast duck, which he said was nice but felt it lacked vegetables. It seems like the prices have increased and for that reason, I don't think we will be returning."

"We had an appalling dining experience at Hare and Tortoise on the weekend!They first brought out the mains before our starters. When we said we'd asked for the starters first they took back the mains but then proceeded to place our mains at the service counter and left them there while we ate our starters.When we finished our starters (after minutes) they then offered us the same mains that had been sitting at the service counter for over minutes. When I asked whether they were going to re-cook the mains the waitress offered to reheat them for us. We said no and asked that the mains be freshly cooked again. They took back the food and then brought them out again after only minutes and it was quite clear that the dishes had merely been reheated! When we asked the waitress whether the food had been re-heated she flat out lied and claimed that they had been freshly cooked.When we asked to speak to the Manager she didn't even apologise for the incident but proceeded to tell us not to disrespect the staff and to lower our voices!We will never be returning to this establishment again. It's quite clear that they have no consideration whatsoever to ensure customer satisfaction and have no qualms at all about being rude to their customers or are even concerned about customer welfare because of potential food poisoning from eating reheated food!"

"We have just returned from a tasting menu experience. I feel torn because the surroundings, the service and the wine was all superb. The food was not the highlight, and this is coming from a foody. Some dishes on our tasting menu were cleverly executed, such as the pickled vegetable; starting sweet and ending acidic very clever, especially when the pairing wine wiped the palate clean. But then other dishes on the tasting menu seemed as though they were there just to fill a gap, such as a parsnip soup and mango sorbet hate to say it, but pretty boring from my perspective! Still tasty, but I lost interest after a while.Despite this, the service was wonderful. We were served by Carly for our wine and she was extremely knowledgable, so passionate and it was clear that high standards of service was her goal. The food wasnt terrible by any means well presented, cooked very well, good flavours but I do feel that they missed an opportunity to demonstrate skill an innovation when we asked for a vegan tasting menu. Our surrounding tables' plates looked much more exciting and I simply stopped eating after a while. I will certainly return but mainly because Glasgow really doesnt have much to offer in the way of fine dining. I wish the kitchen showed more creativity for a vegan menu because if they did, I would never leave the place.Highlights AMAZING wine menu; service is outstanding, all servers were trained to high standards but particularly Carly and Cal saw that we were well looked after, the atmosphere is perfect. Just show us more creativity in the food please!!!!"

"I never write a review as I always address face to face give you the opportunity to make good, but...One of the most vile tasting Chinese takeaways I have ordered. We had chicken satay which was a thick gelatinous bland tasteless sauce in my book not chicken satay at all , the crispy beef was again in a thick gelatinous vinergrey sauce the beef was tough and soggy as so much sauce and the Yung chow mein again bland and very cheap cuts of meat which reminded me of spam. I called them say I was unimpressed spoke to the owner who apologised and basically told me they have many happy customers and never had complaint about their food as they have always had same chef and cooked like this for years. If this was a restaurant I would have not eaten it and refused to pay. This was a Saturday night treat I will never make mistake again and in future avoid the China orchid in cullompton not that they cared anyway."
