"Picture it, Saturday brunch time last week…the restaurant was nearly empty but for 2 tables (4 patrons total). The heat must have been broken because it was freezing and when asked if they would turn the heat on the waitress brought a tiny space heater…the type you may use under a desk in an office. These should have been red flags telling us to leave but the decor was cute so we stayed. The mysteriously stained cloth napkins also would have sealed it if we’d seen them from the beginning. We started with tea as it was still very cold where we were seated. The Dozie Girl special blend sounded nice so that’s what I ordered. The waitress indicated she wasn’t sure they had it so I said ok if you don’t, I’ll have the peppermint. The tea arrived with the paper tag and string still bundled around the bag sitting in the cup of hot water…not a teaspoon, sugar, or honey in sight. We asked but they never came. Ok, maybe a mistake, I mean we’re only in England it’s not like you should know how to serve a cup of tea. Then came time to place our food orders. Turns out they didn’t have 2 out of 3 of the fish orders my brunch companions and I wanted. So we all had the Gambas (prawns). We also ordered the manchego truffle fries, pardon peppers, and broccolini. Oh, we ordered cocktails too, prior to the food orders but they came some time after the food and they were fine (no complaints on the drinks). The food however left a lot to desired, like flavor. I was searching for taste with every bite but by the time I finished the 3 prawns that came on the plate I could not find any flavor. Pardon peppers were fine. Fries were disappointing as the waitresses talked them up a bit the cheese wasn’t even grated properly and the broccolini arrived cold. I’m not sure who was in the kitchen but one of my brunch companions theorized that the B team was on and it wasn’t that they didn’t have the ingredients for the other dishes, it was that the person didn’t know how to prepare them. I’m not ready to give this much credit. If you do decide to stop by make sure you’ve eaten before and order cocktails but be prepared for the 20 to 30 minute wait before the drink is in your hand. "Hats off to the management and staff of Cantinetta for truly earning this one-star review from me. It was a team effort that I felt deserved recognition. We had guests from out of town and it was up to us to pick a restaurant that showcased the best of Crosby (according to Google reviews). We were a party of 10 who had reserved a table for Saturday evening with plenty of time to prepare and even pre-order if needed. Upon arrival, we were seated and given the drink menu. Unfortunately, the staff took 40 minutes before taking our drink orders, despite reminders. They seemed to make excuses rather than fulfill their duties. We should have probably left at that point, but we stayed. The food that was eventually served was inedible, particularly the Bruschettas which were popular choices for starters. There were delays in serving the main dishes as well, with some younger guests jokingly starting to eat the table. Thankfully, the main meals were of decent quality once served, but the service lacked any apologies or acknowledgment of our dissatisfaction. When we spoke to the manager about our experience, he seemed indifferent. This lack of care or apologies for a subpar experience on their part is the reason for this one-star review. Everyone has an off night, but the indifference to customer satisfaction shown by Cantinetta was truly remarkable.Service: Dine inMeal type: DinnerPrice per person: £30-40Food: 2Service: 1Atmosphere: 2"

"My daughter took me for brunch on a voucher offer. First issue brunch doesn 't exist despite it saying so on the confirmation email. So we ended up having lunch. The actual food was ok. Everything else was not. The waiting staff appear to have no idea what to do, ie wait on tables. Their English is limited it took a while to ascertain that brunch wasn 't available as words such as crossiant were not understood. Ditto balsamic . The first course and the prosecco were successfully delivered and enjoyed. Our plates were not taken away until the next course arrived. My daughter had the wrong meal, it was salmon but with all the wrong accompanyments (they had given her a similar meal from another menu available to non voucher customers but not what my daughter ordered or wanted). So they left my lunch, plus the salmon and took the accompanyments away. I had just finished mine when they returned with the correct part of the meal to go with her now cold salmon. No one ever apologised or asked how our meal was. All around us we could hear sorry . Sorry that you have to leave because your drinks didn 't arrive, sorry we have given you the wrong food, sorry that you have had to sit with someone 's stinky asktray on your table. We flagged someone down to order dessert. Again plates not cleared until dessert arrived. The actual food was ok, hence two stars rather than one, but everything else was simply awful. When I asked to speak to the manager I was told they were out the back and could they help? I explained that I wanted to discuss the poor service and they just said haha sorry .... Over the road in Kensington Gardens there is a little cafe selling wraps and waffles that is where we will go next time. In a prime London spot under the Hilton banner there is no excuse for hiring untrained staff with no idea about how to work as a team and simply not caring about your customers."
