"beautiful sunny day I would cut the grass and then go to lunch in the local village pub. we arrived and sat at a table in the bar where dogs are welcome. I ordered a few drinks and then chose our dinner. the menu card on the table only to say when the meals are ordered at the bar that the sunday' menu had ended with something disappointed that we did not go to lunch roast beef, I asked for the normal/daily menu and was even more disappointed that this menu did not begin until baguettes were the only offer! outside the splash' is a large board advertisement that the pub is open every day and there is no mention on the menu that the service ends at any given time. I will visit the queens head at the end of the village next week."

"We dined at this restaurant last year and were very impressed with both the food and service. Because we had such a great experience, we decided to book a table again today to celebrate a birthday. My father-in-law has high standards, but he couldn't find anything wrong with the food, although he mentioned that the portions might be a bit large. Regardless, he and the rest of us really enjoyed our meals. As someone who is intolerant to garlic, I was pleased that the chef prepared a fresh sauce for the stuffed chicken I ordered. It was delicious, and I had no issues after eating, which was reassuring. A big thank you to all the staff for providing a lovely evening and meal. We definitely plan to return soon. Thanks again!"

"Lovely little café restaurant, cosy atmosphere inside. Came here on a Monday evening for dinner following a recommendation and it did not disappoint! The pad Thai was yum and I highly recommend the red curry if you like a sweet creamy curry with a hint of spice! I could just drink the sauce alone! I will definitely come back. Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian options were available and clearly listed separately on the menu Parking: No parking available as the restaurant is in a no drive area but after 6:30 you could park on one of the roads near by and walk."

"Very tasty home cooked in little cafe just of the promenade. Go find it and eat it Situated just behind the flamingo arcade is this hidden little gem. Not just a cafe but also a place by asian ingredients within. You will by welcomed the host and service is second to none. We had some mixed starters to begin. The summer rolls where very fresh and were a welcome break from some of the other fried starters. The Pho soup was very light and refreshing. It complimented our fried power with chilli fish sauce. All In all, a very pleasant and tasty meal with plenty of sauces to try our dishes with."

"An absolute gem of a place, from the welcome when arriving, lovely lovely staff, to the food, Boutique hotel feel in the rooms to the local friendly feeling pub. A bonus staying on a Thursday night is the pub quiz! Gorgeous village to wander around too with the river on the doorstep. Rooms: Room was really luxurious and excellent value for money. Touches like the fresh milk and orange juice and high quality coffer and tea make a difference as well as tasteful decor and high quality bed Nearby activities: Definitely good for a mooch around the village and look at the river ribble. "I visited your restaurant in Beverley yesterday for my birthday with friends, and sadly we were extremely disappointed with the food we were served. We have all been to your restaurant a few times before and have always had fantastic meals. However, last night was different. I ordered the mozzarella balls and they were still frozen inside. For my main course, I had the meatball ciabatta which was so dry that I couldn't even eat it. The last time I had it, there was much more sauce on it. My friend also had the steak ciabatta and commented that the steak tasted and looked like it had been boiled, which was not what we expected from a top-class restaurant. Additionally, my pregnant friend asked for her steak to be well-done as she cannot eat rare meat, but it was still pink and not prepared as she had requested. The restaurant was not even busy, so there is no excuse for the subpar food. Unfortunately, based on our experience, I highly doubt we will be returning to your restaurant in the future."

"Upon arrival, we received a warm welcome and had plenty of tables to choose from. We started with the Clawsome Fries, a sharable appetizer, and decided we’d order more if we felt like it. The fries were topped with melted cheddar, white crab meat, crème fraîche, chives, tiger prawns, sour cream, crispy onions, and jalapeños – what an explosion of flavors! The portion was enormous and offered fantastic value; we were so satisfied that we only managed a sandwich each for dinner. The value, taste, and the menu full of intriguing options have left me eager to return and try more dishes! I was also delighted to see a good selection of vegetarian options, which is perfect since my son doesn’t eat meat. I'm confident he'll find something to enjoy here. We will definitely be back! "What was once always with a log fire on and the hanging hops with local authors books available to buy, is now quite a bland place, was a shame, a little bit of history maybe to the menu at least, where have all the old photos from 100s of years back. Low score based on this point only, the service and staff were great, but lacked its history and with that also its atmosphere. Maybe fire regulations the hops where removed, but most definitely, the old photos over the centuries are missing, making it more of a cold place with no regards to the many who have owned the woolpack. It's like white washed it's past. Which is a shame, many many events and people were a part of this pub in the middle of nowhere, boxing day hunt, the cats and the good old burning log fire has gone, yet if you stand under it... you can still smell the burning of 100s of years ago. At least it still has that. It's always been a great place with a lovely garden and I hope you enjoy your visit, research online the history as its a very old traditional pub and steeped in so many stories. I hope they think about this and bring g some stuff back. Please."

"The only downside to Owd Nell's is that it is incredibly popular! Located right on the Lancaster Canal, it is a fantastic spot to park, go for a walk, and then enjoy a drink and meal upon your return. During our visit on a Sunday lunchtime, the restaurant was bustling and busy. It seemed like by mid-afternoon, it would be packed with people, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, although it may take longer to be served. We ordered our food and drinks and sat outside in the sunshine. The bar offers a wide selection of beers, wines, gins, and more, so finding something to enjoy was not a problem. Our food arrived at a reasonable time, and the staff were friendly as always. The pizzas, particularly the seafood pizza, were delicious, and the Cheese and Onion pie was a favorite. However, it was noted that the pie was a bit dry and could benefit from something wet to accompany it, as it used to be served with onion water. It would be great if they could bring this back. Despite this minor issue, the overall experience was enjoyable. Additionally, there is a kiosk in the old street at the back where they sell delicious ice cream, and kids can also feed the ducks on the canal."

"Avoid this place! Although it’s advertised as a dog-friendly pub, it really isn’t. We arrived at 7:30 PM with our two dogs, hoping to get some food before the 8:30 PM closing time listed for meals, but were rudely informed by the bar staff that dogs were not allowed inside. We were told we would need to go outside with our drinks. To make matters worse, the bar lady told us that the kitchen had already closed for the night. The owner was just as unhelpful. If you have dogs and want to enjoy a meal in the evening, steer clear of this pub! Service rating: 1 star."

"We were the first customers in the restaurant this morning and were greeted very warmly. It quickly became busy, which is always a positive sign. We opted for toasties for lunch and they were absolutely delicious and served hot. The drinks were also good. The staff were all friendly and the restaurant was immaculately clean. The bathrooms were also exceptionally clean. This restaurant is a great place to stop for those exploring the New Forest. It is located in a charming village and we definitely plan on returning."

"One of the best meals I've had in recent memory. The moules marinerre had me scraping the bowl for the last of the broth/sauce, both it and the bisque were so warming and comforting with the bread making a perfectly buttery accompaniment for dipping/mopping. Ideal for a cold winters evening. The skate in lobster butter for main was unbelievable, the skate was as moist and delicate as the sauce was decadent (not to mention it being a very generous portion). Even the desserts were delicious, in particular the sorbet which was lovely and refreshing after such a hearty starter and main. These are the meals you dream of when going to a seaside town. Everything was cooked to perfection, lovely staff and ambience. I can't praise this place enough."

"We have been fans of AFB for many years and have visited numerous times in the past. Unfortunately, our most recent visit fell short for several reasons. The food was average at best, with dry and chewy fish, soggy batter, tasteless chips, and unappetizing peas. The decor was outdated and worn-out, and the bathroom cleanliness left much to be desired. It's a shame to see a once beloved restaurant decline in quality. While we understand that businesses have faced challenges in recent years, it's important to maintain high standards to stay competitive. With other fish shops nearby, AFB needs to step up their game to stand out. It's time to update and improve to recapture the charm and appeal they once had. Relying on past successes is no longer enough."

"I visited today to try the seafood platter after hearing great things about it, and I was not disappointed! The platter was absolutely delicious and definitely worth the price. It included a whole lobster, two dressed crabs, crevettes, prawns, mussels, and clams, along with salad and baguettes. What a fantastic discovery! The views were beautiful, and I can't wait to return soon."

"Horrible atmosphere every time I’ve gone here. Uncomfortable feeling of having to listen to locals at the Reform table next to the bar making homophobic comments. Then try and backtrack when they’re confronted. Bar staff did nothing to quash the blatant homophobic remarks either. Won’t be coming back."

"Wasn’t sure what to expect, it was a last minute booking on Father’s Day and they had a vacancy for five and a dog! Tables outside with a gazebo and a singer setting up, but we’d elected an inside table as there was a chance of rain. Directed to our table which had a reserved sign. Table layout was spacious, distance between tables was good most venues seem to cram the tables in to maximise profit. Roast diners of lamb, beef or turkey with roast pots and seasonal veg, there were about 10 12 other main courses covering pies, fish, salad and lasagna etch plus a selection of children’s meals. You go to the bar to order your food and drinks. I opted for the steak and ale pie, chips and peas, it said there was optional seasonal veg but they sent that out anyway. Daughter had half roast chicken and others the roast Turkey. The pie was a large portion, pastry thin and the meat plentiful and full of flavour, best I’ve had in ages, the chips large and crispy and the peas were …..peas. All in all a great plate of food. Equally the other meals were generous potions, Turkey and roast potatoes almost filled the plate. The veg was well cooked, not over done and consisted of carrots, cauliflower and cabbage. More than we needed. All meals arrived together and hot, waitresses (2) were good, offered condiments and returned 10 mins later to check everything was ok. Plates cleared but not rushed to leave, declined desserts as we were too full. The bill came to £61.00 for five meals (not including drinks) when I enquired about the service charge, the owner told me it’s not included and declined to take it and politely asked me to pay our waitress direct. Must be a good place to work to have such an honest boss. Would we go back, definitely, would we recommend it, yes but don’t all book at once or we may find it harder to get a table!"

"Firstly this is not something that I would normally do, but was just so incredibly disappointed by our experience tonight 27/10/23. Took mum for a birthday meal(85), she loves it here, but the restaurant was absolutely freezing. If we wouldn't have had our outdoor coats in the car, there would have no way we could have stayed with mum. All the customers were complaining how cold it was with the poor waitress having to constantly apologise. One couple had managed to requisition a small heater from somewhere and had it plugged in near their table. The food was lovely, as always, but very quickly became cold before we could finish it. I felt so sorry for my mum, as she kept apologising for asking to go there,. As i say, food was good but evening just ruined by lack of heating."

"Before our arrival, we called ahead to reserve a table for Friday evening as we had heard it can get busy and booking in advance was recommended. We made a reservation for 5pm. We had checked the menus online beforehand but were having trouble finding information about the opening hours, which was frustrating as we needed to plan around our children's feeding schedule. Upon arriving at our lodge at 4pm, we searched for information inside about the tearooms and how to get there as we were located on the opposite side. We couldn't find any visible site maps and were pressed for time as our table was booked. Luckily, we encountered a staff member who informed us that it was only a half-mile walk and advised us to call ahead if we might be running late. Upon reaching the tearooms, we were the only patrons there. Even when we left, there were only a few other guests. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We visited again on Saturday evening and once again found it to be quiet. Despite it being a lovely summer evening, there were no other guests around. It's a shame that guests may not be aware of this wonderful place. The Saturday menu only offered two choices: a meat platter or a meat and cheese platter, which wasn't ideal for children. However, the chef kindly accommodated our kids with plain white bread and child-friendly ham. Overall, we highly recommend it as a place to enjoy a drink, relax, and then take a leisurely stroll back to your lodge."
