"I visited this place at lunchtime with a friend who lives in Hull, so she recommended it. There was seating inside, as well as some outside on the street. It had a nice relaxed atmosphere, with piano music playing. We were told we could order by the app, which allows 10% off the bill. Or we could order at the bar. We decided it would be easier and quicker for us to order at the bar. But we were met by a very unwelcoming guy who told us that he didn’t have time to take our order, as he was far too busy. So our only option was the app! Not the best customer service, but anyway we ordered by the app which was fairly straight forward. The food was very nice and we had a lovely relaxing catch up. I would definitely recommend this place also visit again. Despite the stressed out moody barman, the rest of the staff were lovely the service was excellent."

"Breakfast was ok, my partner's toast was untoasted, he asked for toasted toast and they only brought 1 slice, seemed a bit stingy to not replace both slices. The rest of his breakfast was good. I asked for 3 items from extras menu as I have dietary limitations, they charged me £11 and the scrambled egg wasn't good at all, bland and watery, I just hope it wasn't made with milk as I'd informed them I was lactose intolerant. When I queried the £11 charge they said they'd charged me for bread which I didn't have so did refund me £1.50. Staff were lovely and the place had a nice relaxed vibe. Probably a nice place for coffee and cake as the lattes were fine and the cakes looked nice, but from my experience expensive for the quality and portions."

"After dining at this restaurant multiple times, I made a reservation for dinner with three friends and was extremely let down by the decline in quality. The cocktails lacked flavor, the wine was tasteless, and all the food was overly salty. The lemon sole was overcooked, the butter sauce tasted burnt instead of nutty. The aubergine main dish was small and lacked flavor, more suitable as a starter. The halloumi main was bland and the sole goujons were lukewarm at best. The dessert, rhubarb frangipane, tasted like a subpar Bakewell tart with minimal rhubarb, and the Balthazar coupe was overly sweet. At a price of £270, this meal was far too expensive for the subpar quality. I am unsure if there has been a change in management at this restaurant, but I was truly disappointed and embarrassed to have recommended it to my friends. I will not be returning or suggesting this restaurant to others in the future."

"We booked The Hope for a family get together, it's really close to Central Station therefore it was convenient for everyone to meet there for lunch! When I was looking in to booking something for us I checked the website and it said the pub was family friendly, perfect as we were bringing our wee boy! Disappointed however when we were ordering food to discover that there was no children's menu! The staff serving our table were very nice and although a bit slow in getting the food orders they were on hand to take our drinks orders right away! The food was nice, nothing to write home about but a good meal none the less! One waitress in particular was very helpful with our wee boy, regularly checking to see if she could get him a drink and asking if we wanted his food kept warm while he had a nap! The Hope is a family favourite of ours for its location, it's welcoming staff and a beautiful building too! We will definitely be back, if a children's menu was introduced it would be perfect!"

"We went to Palm Court for a works Christmas Party. It was superb right from walking down the pathway towards the building. The decorations were amazing and the fake snow added to the magic. Such a warm welcome once inside. We opted for the buffet package, Rachel remembered our party we had had back in the summer and catered to our tastes by adding little personal touches to the selection. Amazing food which was served upstairs and Wow, it was sooo beautifully set up and very Christmassy with warm lighting, proper xmas hat's, a warm fire, the buffet was served at one end of the room and tables set up the other and laid out perfectly. There were 60 of us and it was perfect. After our meal we went back downstairs to party! and party we did, we had a Juke Box so you could choose your own songs and playlists which worked brilliantly as the choice was extensive and everyone enjoyed choosing. The staff can't do enough for you and made our night special. Thank you so much to Palm Court Pavilion for the best night ever"

"The food took a long time to arrive; we had to inquire about it after noticing that 15 plates were waiting to leave the kitchen. Some members of our party were close to leaving due to the long wait, but an employee informed us it would be just five more minutes. The only restroom available was a disabled toilet, and our original server promised to notify us when it was free, but that never happened. When our food finally arrived, it was decent, but the mac and cheese was nothing like what I had seen on Instagram—it might have suffered from sitting under a heat lamp for too long. I don't blame the kitchen for the delay, but it was disappointing that no one brought the food to our table in a timely manner. It's a shame that our visit did not meet our expectations, especially since we were looking forward to it. Overall, the service put a damper on our experience."

"I dined twice in the Punter recently. The food is very good. It tends to get very noisy in the evening if you sit inside because of the acoustics also reserve a place as it is popular. It's not too great with kids as it gets a bit claustrophobic with a lot of interesting objects around the walls that they are not allowed to touch and no alternative entertainment. In an adult only setup it is very cosy, very nice atmosphere and decoration."

"Wonderful, helpful staff excellent service from booking until we left after celebrating a 40th birthday. Luke was so helpful when I rang to book easy to talk to. On arrival today all the staff were kind, caring, considerate and were incredibly helpful. The carvery was tasty with an excellent choice of vegetables fab Yorkshire puddings. The 4 children in our group aged 2-10, all enjoyed their carvery and the ice- cream dessert that came with a chocolate flake marshmallows. Thank you to all the staff at ‘front of house’ ‘behind the scenes’ for making today a very special 40th family celebration! We will definitely be returning, not just as a family, but as a couple because we were so impressed with the overall service quality of food."

After some period of time and 20 minutes after my expected delivery time I decided to call to restaurant to find out where my order was, only to ne told they hadn't even started cooking it due to being busy. But at this point I was already too hungry to care so continued with the order and waited anyway. Yet after another 30 minutes of waiting I call again to find out where my food was And it did eventually after this last call an hour and 35. Minutes after my order had been received. Why accept the order in the first place if you cannot meet expected times and targets??? Rocco camberley used to be a good place to oder but now it's questionable. Terrible delivery estimates. "What a fantastic place! First of all, if you march in, the smell of burgers immediately strikes your nose, immediately make you hungry. My partner and I took our seats and checked the menu, there were only 6/7 things on the menu (without pages). You know what they say: the less on the menu, the more fresh the food. I ordered the 'Honest Burger' and I was asked if medium was rarely in order as they prefer. I agreed and ordered her personal burger beer to fit, this beer was incredible and obviously was made a lot of effort to perfect it. My order came with sides of their spicy wings and their onion rings, they were ineffective. The wings were perfectly cooked and the onion rings were gigantic and well cooked. I came to the burger and started to eat, I practically inhaled the whole thing, what an amazing thing, the craftsmanship that needs to be done to create this burger was clearly top-notch, I did it a service through it so fast to eat, but I could not help. A few drinks, 2 burgers and 2 pages came to just under £50, so a bit more on the expensive side, but you get what you pay. Overall fantastic and worth a visit!"

"Absolutely Useless!! Incompetence to its core. Ordered over an hour ago, called them to get an update, I was told there is no order with those details. Idiot on the phone said he will chase up, didn’t call me back. I called back 10 minutes later and they are passing the phone between eachother making excuses and the original guy apparently “went home” 10 minutes after saying he will give me an update. "at my last day in london I decided to try this place beyond my apartment, as ironic and it immediately regretted me not to have gone earlier! the vegan open sandwich was fantastic, with crispy sourded, homemade pesto, aromatic courgette and waiting for vegan goat cheese. an absolute winner. good part for 10. they also have a few other vegan options porridge, toast with bon, salat, but it would be great if we had an option, for example to swallow eggs for tofu, so the other menu items can also be veganized! I also found the coffee quite bitter, but that could be on the milk of the heel that they do not use safely who it is."

"Happy cow only allowed me to give this up to a four as its not a veggie restaurant. We love it here there are I think five burger options and they're all awesome. The chips are amazing and the staff are knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to veganism. The also have Swedish glacé ice cream and have been kind enough to make me ice cream with peanut butter and bananas in the past which isn't even on the menu. Even my omni friends copy my dessert choice now :D"

"My wife and I had booked a Chinese meal on the 28th September and were looking for somewhere to have some drinks prior to the meal and my wife spotted the Mercat opposite the Chinese which was absolutely perfect for us. We ordered a Cider and a Peroni and the barmaid Stacey told us to find a table and she would bring the drinks over to us. Whilst enjoying our drinks we kept seeing lovely meals being taken to vsrious tables and they all looked exceptional, very well presented and you could clearly see that everyone was really enjoying them and the lovely background music being played. We both agreed that we would return on the followimg evening and try the food as it really looked too good to miss and we were certainly not disappointed. After a couple of drinks each we both decided to go for the fish and chips and we both agreed that it was the nicest fish and chips we had had for years, everything very fresh and so tasty. We enjoyed a lovely bottle of Sauvignon blanc with the meal and my wife chose the cheese platter with olives, girkin and biscuits and I chose the icecream for our sweets, absolutely perfect. Unfortunately the lovely Stacey was not working on the evening but we did have the lovely Scott, they are a super team, so efficient, friendly, courteous and obliging. Since returning home we have never stopped talking about this wonderful evening, we both loved Edinburgh and this restaurant really was the icing on the cake. We are already talking about returning to the City and returning to this beautiful restaurant, what a find! . Well done to you all and thankyou!"
