"I recently visited Sander's Yard bistro for the second time and it was a wonderful experience. The restaurant is located in a charming courtyard, the staff were attentive, the atmosphere was great, and the food was delicious. I ordered the vegan platter and was impressed with the fresh ingredients and attention to detail in preparation. There were plenty of vegetarian options available, including approximately five vegan choices. Sander's Yard bistro is now my top choice for dining in Whitby."

Really helpful and nice staff, but the food was dry, bland and uninspired.

We stopped by for a pot of Earl Grey and oat milk. We shared a vegan chocolate orange torte and vegan salted caramel cake. The cakes were amazing!

I tried the vegan cake options and they were absolutely delicious! I wish there were more options for vegan lunches and main dishes - simply swapping to vegan cheese would provide more choices. I was disappointed that we had to pay extra for alternative milk.

We took four children to dinner on Saturday. Highly recommend taking families to Sanders Yard. The staff were incredibly attentive and took real care of us bringing food early, showing the kids the deserts, entertaining, chatting with the kids all simple acts but in doing so making our our meal much more enjoyable. Whenever i am popping into Whitby for a day out i always make sure to come to Sanders Yard for some food and drinks. First impressions are always of the homely decorations that really create a warm welcoming atmosphere. The menu has a good range of options for vegans, they even do a vegan platter! Food service is quick and it also is of an exceptional quality.

This charming and inviting café is full of character and serves delicious food. We tried the vegan platter and some fries, and it was delicious. We enjoyed sitting inside in a cozy and warm area with our dogs, and appreciated the welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. There is also a separate room for guests without dogs, as well as a covered courtyard. Highly recommend this café.

Enjoyed a vegan platter and beer here after walking from Robin Hoods Bay to Whitby (about 6/7 miles). Platter consisted of warm pitta, hummus, stuffed vine leaves, olives, roast veg, mushroom pate, chutney and salad. It was pretty tasty and sufficient for two although we ordered a second pitta. Cafe was a nice chilled environment, food and service good. Nice change from the offering of a bean burger! View menu

This is one of the first and one of the best places I’ve been to try vegan food, I had a Spinach and Falafel burger served in a toasted bun with rocket, tomato chutney and fries. Service was pleasant and atmosphere was welcoming, I really enjoyed spending my time and money here and would definitely recommend it as I will be going back there to enjoy their food again. Their prices are fair and I didn’t feel like I was spending a lot.

Poor service. Walked in and went to look at the cakes and was told to wait at the door to be seated. I was just looking at the cakes but I thought I better do as I was told as it wasn’t busy. We were then shown to a table, then told she us she would come back for our order. I was going to get some cake but thought I might be overstepping the mark if I was going to have another attempt to see the cakes so we just ordered coffee from the brusk lady.

"Haven 't written a review for several years but this place really pushed the button so here I go. Booked this from Australia months ago based on good reviews and photos of rooms and restaurant. Luke warm welcome and showed to an over heated, airless garret at the top of the house. We had requested a quiet room but this was claustrophobic with a small double bed. Our request to move to another room was granted and we went to another king size bedded room at the front. King size in UK means queen size in most other jurisdictions. Nothing luxurious about this. No nice touches. Knackered pillows and tired old furnishings. Basic bathroom and if you don 't pull on the top of the shower door to get out you could be in there for ever. On the plus side we were not charged for our upgraded room. Place appears to be on the downhill run. No vacancy sign was up but only us and another couple in residence. This restaurant had acquired a double rosette from the AA so we were expecting something really special. Whitebait starter was good, paid extra for crab spring rolls which were pretty bland. Our main of fish pie comprised of a round pile of chopped up seafood smothered in a white sauce with a seaweed accompaniment and boiled potatoes and peas. Where was the pastry in the seafood pie? Nowhere to be seen in this totally tasteless dish. Dessert was an offering of several small sweet concoctions which you could get a selection of 5 of if you shared. Given what had come before we opted for the cheese plate which had had no intervention from the chef...the best course. Yalumba wines appear to have a share holding in this establishment as their logo and wines are everywhere. In Australia we know them for their budget boxes of cask wine but here they were shown a great deal more reverence. Only NZ and Australia featured on the red wines list. No European and no other new world wines......and this is a double rosette restaurant?? One wine by the glass and that was a Yalumba Shiraz which we passed on. Went to the pub after dinner for a glass of their house red....much nicer. In summary over priced and under delivered in everything. Pleased to move on"
