Gravy could have done with being a bit thicker (our personal taste) and probably in a gravy boat, rather than already over the roast. Any it did get rather noisy when all the tables were full. "The menu is outstanding..the chefs just get it and surpass each time. I have been now numerous, many times with young and oldies and they all love the food, the service and ambience. We just return time and time again. You have to try the calamari and/or the crab as a starter and then check out the specials menu. Their fish menu is outstanding, freshly delivered every day and they cater for all, if not your thing. Just enjoyed their Sunday lunch this weekend with beef wellington and all that came with it was cooked to perfection. Beautiful crisp potatoes, yorkshire pudding and then the gravy. All hot and cooked to perfection. Lovely outside eating area, covered, inside bar area and then a beautiful barn room for eating or an occasion. Just outstanding. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5"

"Welcoming atmosphere, delicious food, excellent value, and friendly service. Impressive wine selection by the glass and a wide variety of gins. Started with chicken liver pate and wild mushroom risotto, both of which were fantastic. The risotto had a perfect balance of flavors and texture, while the pate had a strong taste, although it could have used a bit more dressing on the side salad. The steak and Carbonara were both well-prepared, with the steak and chips being particularly outstanding. The Carbonara was creamy and had a nice egg flavor, but the addition of chicken pieces was not necessary. For dessert, we enjoyed a delicious crumble with pecan topping and homemade vanilla ice cream, as well as a Cheesecake made with Merlyn liquer which was well executed but not a dish we would order again. The only downside was the table we chose near the door to the toilets, which caused a loud bang with each use. Despite this, we will definitely be returning for the fantastic food, service, and ambiance."

"We first heard about Holyrood 9A through an online blog whilst looking for dog friendly places to eat and drink in Edinburgh, and were very happy to find it very close to where we were staying. We visited twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times the staff were very friendly and attentive, food was delicious and we really enjoyed the selection of beers and cocktails. Also on both occasions, our dog was presented with a dish of water and some biscuits on a little silver plate he was very appreciative! Definitely on our list to revisit and recommend."

"We went here on a busy Friday night for 'date night ' and was greeted warmly and shown to our table immediately...we had the Black Angus rump for 2 which was ample and reasonably priced also a really good bottle of wine again reasonably priced... would definitely recommend and have done to friends over the weekend looking forward to going back in the future"

"We visited on a Tuesday evening and had booked a table in advance. We were greeted by a lovely guy (in fact all the waiting staff were lovely). We were given a table in the corner in the window which had lots of space for our two labs. Straight away he bought over water and biscuits for the dogs which was such a nice touch! We had two mocktails and two burgers proper pub grub! Service was super quick and food was great! Would 100% recommend to anyone especially if you have dogs!"
