"Welcoming atmosphere, delicious food, excellent value, and friendly service. Impressive wine selection by the glass and a wide variety of gins. Started with chicken liver pate and wild mushroom risotto, both of which were fantastic. The risotto had a perfect balance of flavors and texture, while the pate had a strong taste, although it could have used a bit more dressing on the side salad. The steak and Carbonara were both well-prepared, with the steak and chips being particularly outstanding. The Carbonara was creamy and had a nice egg flavor, but the addition of chicken pieces was not necessary. For dessert, we enjoyed a delicious crumble with pecan topping and homemade vanilla ice cream, as well as a Cheesecake made with Merlyn liquer which was well executed but not a dish we would order again. The only downside was the table we chose near the door to the toilets, which caused a loud bang with each use. Despite this, we will definitely be returning for the fantastic food, service, and ambiance."

Restaurant was empty. Decor a bit tired. Service was friendly but good very disappointing.

This is an unpretentious 'country bistro' where very good food is clearly the order of the day.

The restaurant was not very busy and the decor felt a bit dated. The service was pleasant, but ultimately disappointing.

We can't review this restaurant, as when we arrived we were told that they were closing in 4 days so the restaurant menu was off and they only had a limited bar menu View menu

Excellent Sunday lunch , biggest Yorkshire pudding I have ever seen. The beef was just right as was the veg and the oration size. Third time we have eaten there and we will be back.

Excellent Sunday dinner, biggest Yorkshire pudding I've ever seen it. The beef had just the right thing as the veg and the Oration Size. The third time we've eaten there, and we'll be back.

When we arrived at the restaurant, we were disappointed to find it closed. We were informed that they had shut down temporarily for four days, so they were only offering a limited bar menu instead of their full restaurant menu. View menu

Unfortunately I was disappointed with my experience at Welcome To Town. The food was particularly unimpressive: tough/over-cooked lamb and a cheesecake that looked tasted like it'd come from a supermarket shelf. The taxi driver laughed when I commented on dinner: apparently Welcome To Town has rested on its laurels after initial good reviews and is locally regarded as a place best avoided.

Warm welcome, great food, really good value, lovely friendly service. Exceptional choice of wine by the glass. And gins lots of gins. Had chicken liver pate and wild mushroom risotto to start. Risotto was fabulous, moved around the plate but rice still had a bite excellent. Pate also very good, strong taste, side salad could have had a bit of dressing though. Steak and carbonara for mains. No complaints about the steak and accompanying chips top notch. Carbonara also well made with egg but I could have done without the chicken pieces in it? We just about managed dessert crumble with pecan topping and the best homemade vanilla icecream fantastic. Cheesecake made with Merlyn liquer mmm, not su...

"I have been wanting to visit here for ages but the stars have never aligned until Saturday. We were extremely lucky to get a walk in for the two of us. We were greeted by the owner and shown to a table. As we didn't have any drinks with us Peter suggested Tesco a few doors down and I was able to grab a bottle to enjoy with the meal. The service was wonderful and friendly and it felt like we had been going there for years, with just the right amount of care and advice. The food was exceptional from start to finish. We had the chicken satay and spring rolls to start and they were beautiful. The satay was amazing and was much darker in colour than any I have had before, but much better in flavour than any I have had before, I would definitely have these again. For main I had a chicken rendang and my wife ordered gule monkfish. The rendang was again perfect for my tastes. Spicy but flavourful with a generous portion that would satisfy the majority of eaters. I would have had seconds, even though I was stuffed because it was so good. I can't comment too much on the monkfish as I have a dislike of seafood, but my wife raved about it and said she's having the same again next time without question. So I think that sums it up. We finished with deserts of a rice pudding dish I think was called bubar, which was black rice and coconut, and the second dish we ordered was a Banana coconut pancake to which I forget the name. Again I couldn't find fault if I tried another 10 out of 10. At the end of the meal we met owner and chef Ami, who came to chat. It was lovely speaking to the owners and their passion for the food and customer service was clear. We cannot wait until our next visit"
