"TL/DR: bland, ‘old’ food. interesting history. sits on magnificent castle grounds. not worth the price. the service team adheres to old ideas and traditions that are incompatible with the needs of modern culinary experience. let me admit a few things: 1) I am an american and because of our history, I have developed a more sensitive radar to recognize when my white privileg and colonialism are put on a sockel. 2) I don't know much about the history there, why certain traditions were received at george w, and I don't pretend I know how the personal feels there. I bought a book about the history of irlands to understand the complicated relationship between the earth and the clone better. 3) I understand it, it's a restaurant review, not a story book. but if they call a place after a former king, of course we come here. the fast and dirty becuase I still have minimal characters: the plots are beautiful the restaurant was built for george w and the man feels and tastes like it consciously old preparation techniques and ideas to keep hecht the eating was not good. it was just not. it's not the fault of the service team, but someone who decides to have a boring, outdated menu catering to old, rich white people (small changes could have made the meal interesting and as it belongs in 2022) the only variety was present under the service team. it's a diner. several people served us on a separate way: the person who sat us took our order (the one other person confused), someone else spoke to us about wein and could not answer other questions, someone else served it, and none of them was our main server I let this experience disappointed and confused. How much of my experience is white fault against real restaurant problems? Should a restaurant rooted in royal history consider its representation of colonialism in 2022 a real restaurant problem? I really think."

"Service was 5*, fantastic, they were so warm and friendly. Food was very well presented, but a bit too salty/greasy for our taste. Complementary fruit was a lovely touch though. Restaurant was also bit dark and disposable tablecloths not very environmental. If they could add more vegetarian options to their menu we would probably go back, simply because they were so polite and welcoming. Service: Dine in"

"Lovely little restaurant with outstanding food. Definitely start with the chicken momos, they're fantastic. My partner ordered paneer tikka masala and said the sauce was a bit sweet for her taste, but her garlic naan disappeared quickly. I had the nepalese chicken curry, which was similar to other curries I've had but very well balanced and delicious, especially with hot roti. We would love to come back someday."

"I used the OpenTable app to book La Cucina as a last minute booking. When I walked in the door with my family, we waited to be seated, or for someone to approach us to ask about a reservation this didn't happen so I approached the bar/desk about half way up the restaurant. I showed the staff member my reservation he explained there was no space. He seemed to confer with a women who didn't look at or approach me, and when he came back to me said I would have to wait about 20 minutes. I returned to my family by the door and realised I was unsure if I actually had a booking here and there would be a table in 20 minutes or I was coming back to check if there was a table. I approached the desk again and spoke to the woman this time who dismissed the reservation I had and said they never received it. I asked when I would be able to eat, and she suggested coming back in 30 minutes. I asked if there would be a table in 30 minutes and she said that she would hold one for me she didn't take my name or any details. I didn't return and I won't. I don't mind if something went wrong with my reservation and if it wasn't received. The dismissive attitude and ambiguity about whether I would be able to get a table at any time turned me off this restaurant."

"I always wonder if the place serves nice food. from outside the restaurants looks quite traditional, they have a lot of Italian products on the window that looks like a business more than a restaurant. as soon as they enter, there is no decoration, the place is easy. my friend and I ordered a pizza, because the rest of the menu was a bit boring and not very appetizing. while we waited, they offered bread with olive oil. brot was the one they find in tesco, the one they use to do their triangle sandwich before a trip! I would rather have expected a piece of Italian bread than this. because in this night there were not many people in the restaurant and...read more"

"So, the waiter was kind of nice, but i could hear constant swearing from the kitchen and that was him…, i didnt feel respected…, Next, the fork! Omg, i couldnt grab salad with it,embarassing. People watchEd me eating with hands. Ha! And now bruschetta. That was toasted dry bread with not enough/ fried vegies. This should melt my month but…,well, i put lots of oil, salt, and that was quite ok, The wine was good. And spaghetti…lol I get dry noodles, ok? I mean wthl!!!!no joke. On the top of that a few mushrooms, little vegies, very little. No flavor at all. Like at all. Again i put lots of oil to get more flavor. Even waiter said that its better if i put oil. Hahahah So, he knew its not Best . Shame, cos i am in Hampstead quite often, and i love Italian food, but…, its a good bye."

"beautiful, warm restaurant! I came to lunch and had the rabbits and carrots as antipasti and cotoletta traditionale for pornstar. both were amazing and could not mistake the calf cut at all. I also ordered a red wine with recommended from the sommelier and it was beautiful as always. the service was top notch and very friendly. I would recommend to everyone to come here. Thanks again!"

"The produce was excellent, and the location is charming, but the service was slow and subpar. For instance, they forgot to bring cutlery with our meals and brought a dessert with whipped cream when I had specifically requested a dairy-free option. The owner became increasingly intoxicated as the evening progressed and was rude to the staff in front of customers. Additionally, the stairs to the bathroom were unlit, which posed a safety risk. I wouldn't recommend this place."

"A charming little café in the heart of Catford, which might not meet everyone’s expectations. Unfortunately, the service was quite poor. I had lunch with some friends, and I had to get up to ask our server to take our order. My friends received their meals quickly, but I was left waiting for about 10 minutes before my food arrived. I had ordered a tuna salad with bread, but no bread was served. When I inquired about it, the bread finally came about 5 minutes later. On the bright side, the food was tasty; my salad was fresh and delicious, and both of my friends also enjoyed their meals. However, when it was time to get the bill, I had to get up and ask again, which took another 15 minutes. If the service were improved, this could be a fantastic spot for a meal."

"Cafe Pacifo is a perfect place to go with friends who are used to seeing you pig out! The food is tasty and plentiful! Expect a massive portion...that you WILL EAT ENTIRELY. My group of 6 waited for under ten minutes to be seated, and we received excellent attention from our waitress. She took our drink order and recommended we do the margarita jug rather than individuals. The jug is perfect for a big group, and we ended up doing two rounds. For my meal, I had the steak AND chicken fajitas. The chicken was tender, the steak was juicy, so it was a lovely combo! The fajita comes with something like 5 tortillas and loads of fillers-guac, roast peppers and onions, sour cream, rice, beans...you name it! Decor-wise, this is a fun restaurant. Bright colors, boisterous...clearly a great place to go with your friends. And..if you are like me, don't go on a date here as your partner will think you are a massive glutton."

"We were visiting the area and this was our local pub. The menu is really nice and got off to a great start with really nice starters and good wine. We both ordered different steaks, and unfortunately both were overcooked. We sent them back with no bother, and to be fair to the staff, they didn't charge us for any of the wine we had that evening to apologise for the mistake. Problem was that the steaks were still over-cooked 2nd time round too, but we didn't say anything. Also worth being aware there didn't seem to be a drinks-only part to this pub, it was just a restaurant inside, so nowhere really to relax pre/post dinner. Young staff members were a bit too keen and needed to listen/slow down a little! So, it was alright, I might give it another go, but with so many other great options in the area i'm not sure I would really!"

"I would recommend as I have had such lovely food there before and I 'm hoping this was a 'one off '. Waited ages for the drinks. My father in law asked for a pot of tea to be served with his meal came after the meal even when we asked for it. There was only 2 girls taking orders and serving. When you needed someone there wasn 't anyone around. I was pleased they let us order a kid 's portion of fish and chips as my father in law doesn 't have a big appetite. Maybe this is something to consider smaller portions if requested. At the same time the chips that came with the fish were all 'ends ' again disappointing. As I have said I do hope this isn 't going to be the regular service going forward."

"Bit of a mixed bag here. Came with a relative on a quiet Sunday. Ordered the chicken wings and tempura prawns and both were excellent. Chicken wings were exceptional and the prawns were cooked as expected with light batter. The main, pulled lamb with veg, was rather disappointing. The lamb was very nice and the gravy was spicy (chili or pepper hot). The hasselback were soft but needed more colour, the carrot was not cleaned properly and was tough and almost raw, the red onion and pepper had no place on the dish as they were not cooked like the runner beans and needed more cooking. If the veg had been cooked then the dish would have been so much better. However, these are easy things to do so frustrating. The Yorkshire puds were fantastic. The biscotti cheesecake was wonderful. Overall a 3/5 but should have been a 4. Staff were very nice and attentive. I would return but order a different main"

"Had a lovely meal with the family today at Mr Basrai's. Many choices. Tasty food. Friendly and helpful servers. Great value too. Would certainly recommend. The Mrs and I went back to Mr Basrais for a meal yesterday, first time after it reopened after lockdown and it was lovely! Staff friendly and caring as before. Food delicious as always. Received 50% off as well on food and soft drinks due to the #eatouttohelpout scheme. Loved it! Will visit again towards the end of this month."

"My wife and I arrived at Jaggers at 11.40am today found a table and ordered two coffees and soon thereafter ordered two x smashed avocado with poached eggs on sourdough toast. The coffees arrived and we were asked to settle the bill at that time. Little did we know that the toast we had ordered would take 1 hour and 10 minutes to arrive! We saw people that had sat down after us being served before we were. Apparently “the crepes are cooked in a different part of the kitchen”. The toasts were ok but the poached eggs not brilliant after waiting 70 minutes for them. The table staff were fine it wasn’t their fault but come on. How can it take that long to serve a relatively easy snack? We weren’t offered any discount at all and in fact warned a couple who sat next to us that we had been waiting for over an hour for our food. Awful service in that respect and I think we weren’t the only ones as a table of four next to us must have also waited over an hour to be served their (basically simple) food. Steer well clear. If we hadn’t paid up front we would have left the money for the coffees and walked!"

"Small, busy and crowded restaurant but with a great ambience and a welcoming vibe. The food, when it came, was very good indeed. We ate early on a very hot Saturday evening and had to wait more than an hour for our starters to arrive. The service, though friendly and efficient (requests were actioned properly and promptly with a smile) suffered from a kitchen that didn't seem able to keep up with the orders. In fairness, this might have been because the place was packed with diners the whole time. This meant it was a very noisy restaurant and it was hard for our table of 4 to hear one another speak without shouting. The location is excellent and we will definitely come back possibly at a quieter time of day/week."

"We visit Doddington as the shops always offer things seldom found elsewhere, expensive but exclusive and worth the visit. We just had a late lunch for 2 in the main restaurant. My wife had the Winter Salad, with grilled of roasted carrots, I forget which. Basically a bowl of mixed leaves with some cold sliced carrots barely charred and virtually raw. The promised marmalade dressing was virtually non-existent. My wife ate about 50% and left the rest. I had bubble squeak with gammon. The bubble squeak was a burnt block of mashed veg and potato, barely warm and truly rock solid. The gammon turned out to be ice cold sliced ham straight from the fridge. Both meals terrible and a big disappointment. The waitresses were polite and seemed obviously over-worked, no-one asked if we enjoyed our meals, even when removing the only half eaten plates. Over priced poor quality food that doesn't live up to the Menu's expectation. A shame really as we are local and have fond memories of eating here in the past."

"My girlfriend brought me here for dinner before a theatre performance and we both absolutely loved it here. The restaurant itself is perfectly positioned and very well decorated. It's a very warm and welcoming atmosphere with super friendly staff. The waiters are quick to ensure everything is to your liking and make sure you're comfortable. The food is to die for; as usual we both ordered pizzas which are of a very generous portion size. I ended up eating one and a half and my goodness are they satisfying. At the end we were very happy with the bill as everything is generously priced for what you get."
