"Review by Frau: The overall experience at this restaurant was good, with great starters, but there were a few disappointing aspects. Firstly, there was a delay in getting our food served. Secondly, the drinks we ordered were brought out inconsistently, with one of our drinks even given to another table. In terms of the food, my husband's steak and lamb were undercooked despite his request for them to be cooked thoroughly. The food was also too salty for my parents' liking, which is rare for us as a family who enjoys salty dishes. The prawn curry I had was advertised as a coconut curry but tasted predominantly of lime, which was unexpected. My sister's order of Tacos was initially forgotten until we reminded the waitress, who seemed reluctant to serve us and appeared disinterested. The cocktails we ordered seemed watered down, with little flavor. With improvements in communication and service, this restaurant has the potential to be a great dining spot."

The overall experience was good, the starters were great, but there were a few things that left it down. 1) It took a while to get our food out. 2) The drinks we ordered came out in Dribs and Drabs. At one point, a drink for our table was given to another table. We got the same drink twice. It seemed a lack of communication between the waiters. 3) The food was nice, but my husband ordered his steak and lamb to be moderately heavy, but when it came, it was practically raw. He couldn't even cut it in. The waitress was nice enough to take it back and cooked it a little more. 4) My parents food was much too salty we are a family that salt so for us to say it was too salty really something. The waitress was nice enough to take it back and when it came out, it was much better. 5) I had the prawn curry that was nice, it said it was a coconut Calc curry, but everything you could taste was lime, which I didn't make so much, but after a while it was a little sharp. 6) We called the waitress again when my sister had ordered Tacos, but she didn't want to, but when we called the waitress, she made it clear that she was fed/hearted to come to our table. She sighed before speaking and her body language clearly showed that she did not want to be there. 7) The cocktails seemed as if they had watered down. I got the Bramble and when it came, it just tasted soda water, that was not great and so did my sisters cocktail. With adjustments to settings and service, it could be a really great place."

"My wife and I looked for a local Mexican dinner for a Saturday night, and we found this lovely place. Even though we hadn't reserved in advance and the restaurant was fully booked, they were so kind to accept us. We ordered Fajitas, nachos and prawns in garlic sauce. The food was excellent, fresh and tasty. I tried a lot of nachos in different places, but this one was the best so far. The staff and the owner was friendly as well. Unfortunately, my wife forgot her bag at the restaurant when we left, with all the cards driving license, and she didn't even realise it afterwards. In the night, we had the door knocked and were surprised to see the owner at the door with the bag! He was so kind to bring it to our place! Thank you so much for everything, we will be back again!"

"We went last night (7th August) for a quick bite. I was really impressed with the service. The waitress outside the front (we were seated in the patio/outside section) was really friendly and helpful. I ordered a starter portion of prawn tacos and the way in was prepared was not what I was expecting (not due to the kitchen's fault, just my expectation). I mentioned this to the waitress and I guess the manager (not 100% sure who the man was that I spoke to) and they kindly altered the dish for me so that I could enjoy it more! Above and beyond expectation. They also gave us complimentary drinks because of the inconvenience. I hope these guys are recognised, this is what true service is!...read more"

"La Baronia really is the best restaurant in Southampton. The food never disappoints, the portions are substantial and the service is great no matter what day of the week you go on. The enchiladas are the best dish on the menu, do not miss...out!! There are always familiar faces amongst the staff which makes every visit even better. They are always so nice, welcoming and friendly. I am so glad La Baronia has managed to stay open over the various lockdowns and has continue to provide Southampton locals with their Mexican food fix!"

"absolutely fantastic lunch for seven today. I love the personal. their attention and the level of the service was far superior, any other restaurant I was. that was delicious. we went to the lunch menu. a makrele and beetroot star, amazing sea roasts on maic with green beans followed by the best ever sticky toffee pudding....and I have some in my time I tasted many amazing options on the al a carte menu and will definitely be back. highly recommended. "The restaurant has a charming ambiance and is aesthetically pleasing. The food was decent/good, but the service was lacking. It took 1 hour and 30 minutes to receive our food, and we had to ask three times for water before it was brought to us. It seemed like there were not enough staff members, as more and more customers kept coming in. Several groups of people had to wait for extended periods of time. The establishment should consider limiting the number of patrons if the staff is struggling to keep up with the demand."

"A great find! Mexican food at it 's best. However if, like me, you prefer spicy food be sure to ask for a portion of habinero sauce to spice up your meal. I was extremely fortunate to catch the very end of the lunch menu time and I mean the very end. The waiting staff on taking my order were great, if you were given the lunch menu on your arrival then it will be honoured No argument whatsoever. Customer service at its best. The lunch menu deal is a fantastic offer, if you are on time, this is your best option. I visited the place twice, once in the evening and lucking out with the lunchtime menu laterly. Sadly £6.80 for a pint of Corona...mucho dinero para una cerveza!"

"we sit and get served quickly. drinks were beautiful (virgin mojito and pina colada.) “Specials” was mentioned and we were asked to use a QR code to access the menu. another waitress came approx. 10 minutes later and we asked for a reminder of the specials. very different from what we were told for the first time. we chose a common plaque to begin, followed by fajitas (me) and enchiladas (my partner.) steak was very delicate, the overall taste was very good. had not dessert when we were too full. Check-ups were common to make sure everything was good. the entire ambiente was beautiful. felt intimate, though it was packed. the bill. that was more than exaggerated. it worked at £25 per head minus the drinks. £25 per starter and porn. (Whole appearance was £81, but the cocktails were £8 per plus a beer.) it's nice, but something I couldn't afford regularly."

"Went for Sunday lunch and the food was absolutely incredible. The vegetarian option was probably one of the best Sunday lunch options I've had in the 6 years I've been meat free. "this is a traditional local pub and inn folks. if they enjoy what I and that is good old fashion pub hospitality without all their frills and imagination bits n bobs, then this is the place my wife and I were here for our 4 nights duration and I would recommend it to everyone. eating is nice and the price-performance ratio gets them brilliant. what a beautiful wee pub and the local entertainment is quality and scottish. my dazzling lady at the bar was caitlin, who looked after us very well. I can't remember the other girls, but she had a beautiful and wide Irish accent. when I go to the Trip Advisor, I'll scor 5 stars. many thanks isles inn for a nice stay and we will be back. mark jo xx"

"We popped here for Lunch and were seated straight away. We ordered a few small lunch bits to share and drinks. Drinks arrived in good time, food took a little while to arrive but we weren't in a rush so no big deal. As we...were seated we soon realised there was some sort of family drama unfolding in-front of us, one of the waitresses stormed outside and was ranting and raving outside the window, there were what we assume were staff members kids crying. Staff telling the kids off or to be quiet, different staff members rushing around to talk to the girl outside and then back in. A man then came in with a drill and started doing some DIY on the bar, which was not ideal to listen to. To be honest, it was a bit chaotic and made us feel as we were intruding. It was like the restaurant was open, but they weren't ready to be open as it was just a lot of chaos. We soon ate up, paid and left. They seem to have great reviews so maybe we caught them on an off day, but it definitely wasn't a relaxed lunch as we had hoped for."

"Excellent Italian in a prime location. Superb service that for us went just that little further and impressed us. This was our first visit as we made up our minds where to try. "Waited 55 minutes for food after ordering. Had a bland steak with a lot of fat and tendons. The burger was dry and ill tasting. The sirloin was not cooked the way it was ordered. When asked how it was, we commented on the long wait and got a lecture on how ‘good’ food takes a while to cook….the least they could have done was check in on us during the long wait, and assure us that it’s coming, and maybe offer some bread. No good service here to compensate for the bad food"

"Travelling home from South Wales My Fiancé an I chose Monmouth as a good halfway point to eat. An internet search provided Mokos as a recommended place to eat so we booked a table. When we arrived we were advised that there was a staff...shortage that evening however that wasn't reflected in either the service or food we received. From the moment we were seated the table service was friendly and attentive whilst the food ordered arrived in a timely manner. The food itself was excellent...authentic, spicy and simply delicious. I enjoyed the Paella and my Fiancé loved the vegetarian burritos. I thoroughly recommend Mokos for anyone with a taste for Mexican Mediterranean cuisine."

"Been waiting ages now to get the regular menu as it was limited during covid. Had the lamb shank which was fantastic as always, the market vegetables were broccoli, cauliflower cheese, carrot and turnip. Very filling, cooked to perfection and great tasting. My friend had the pate starter and sweet and sour chicken main; which was crispy chicken with a great tangy sweet and sour sauce. Wish they would do a fried rice with the sweet and sour instead of pilau. And my friend got the lemon cheesecake however was disappointed as it had no taste of lemon. However we are here often and food is good with a great selection to chose from and large portions. Pricing is reasonable too. Good place to come for a couple or even a large group."

"Very disappointed overall. As some of the family had previously visited several months before and had a nice meal. Hence the return. Our starters arrived all rather mediocre and waitress tipped one of the starters over sauce went everywhere accidents happen no big deal got...some paper off waitress and I cleared up told her there was lots of sauce on the floor. She just said ill clear it even uour gone. The mains came mine wax a steak which was as thick as a slice of bacon . Another person had a burger it was over cooked bun was black. Two people had BBQ ribs and asked for the BBQ sauce as none on them. The same waitress told them there was a bottle of hienz sauce they could use on the table!! To sides of prawns were ordered but we only got one lot when asked for the other portion the waitress said abruptly they were on the same plate!! Another group member had beef fajitas that were so tough he couldn't chew the meat. Another waitress asked how meal was I told her she said she would speak to Chef and then returned and said he was to busy at the moment. We got bill they did refund for the fajitas but the waitress who served us before came to collect money and was quite rude . I won't return there's so many nice places I can go in town. This would be my last choice"
