"We chose East because it was one of the few places open on a Monday that wasn't in lockdown. When we first arrived, I wasn't best impressed with the sign, and thought we were heading into your bog standard traditional EnglishCantonese restaurant. However, once we board the restaurant, everything was wonderful. The food was largely cooked from scratch, and every dish was a joy"

"I can't figure out why this restaurant has a 4-star rating. It's just average, the restaurant is in poor condition, and the food is mediocre at best. I wouldn't consider it authentic or tasty. "The reviews online are not wrong. The restaurant is centrally located near the train station. The ambience is beautiful and traditional. Staff are gentle, friendly, friendly and attentive. The food portions are generous and well presented, arriving piping hot. The menu is extensive. The meal didn't feel rushed at all. Although it was a Saturday night, we stayed almost 4 hours and did not feel under pressure to finish the food, although the restaurant was full. I would recommend a reservation in advance. I would like to thank all the staff of this restaurant for such a nice culinary experience. Thank you."

"By far the worst pad Thai I have ever had. It was wet, sloppy and sweet with a bitter after taste. There was no smokiness from the wok, no savoury notes or pungency from the standard paid Thai flavourings (shrimp paste, tamarind etc). Was also mixed with Chinese cabbage and non traditional ingredients and they couldn’t even be bothered to put in the basic ingredients such as egg, bean sprouts and garlic chives."

"my first experience of thai food. our friends went to chaophraya in edinburgh and loved it. Although chaophraya is a chain, it seems that everyone is something different. this special place had a beautiful ambiente and decor to put a chilled mood. we were received to sit up. a beautiful spacious opposite. a very wide menu, very well organized, but so hard to know what to choose with the many options. the only place where I have ever frangelico on the drink card! a definitive winner! a “must taste” drink! my eating option was very good and the additional egg frying was also not disappointed. Unfortunately my wife wasn't too sharp. the service is also friendly. they are observing and thoughtful support, where possible, very good. Although it seems to be a lot of waiters/waxes standing around you and eating you, which makes it easy to unpleasant. the toilet areas are clean and regularly controlled, keeping a clean standard. parking is also plentiful. there are many places to park, to walk from the restaurant. Thai food would not be my personal first option, but if they are in Thai food, then this might be the place for them. as a Google reviewer in the top 10% of the reviewers for the restaurants we were also granted a 15% discount, which was very friendly. many thanks to all employees in chaophraya."

"A friend recommended this place to us. We have been in search of a good thai place in Bournemouth. Upon entering we were welcomed by the good ambience of a small fish pond and a nice server. We put in our orders which is a green papaya salad and spring rolls. The spring rolls was okay, but the papaya salad was amazing. It had that heat that I’ve been looking for in asian dishes. My husband who is not fond of fish sauce slurped the sauce of it. And then I ordered Pad Thai for mains and he ordered the drunken noodles. First bite and we were mind blown. It was amazing!!! The flavor profile and the mouth feel was just spot on. And the prices were great too. 2 starters and 2 mains was for less than £40. This is our new favorite place in Bournemouth. This place is so underrated."

Drinks and nibbles arrived and we put our commands with very pleasant and helpful sever, and our food came and return diners were not disappointed by. eating that was as usual first class, my daughter is vegetarian and was very satisfied with the variety and choice of vegetarian meals. the only side of the visit was the excessive noise of nearby diners, which prevented our party from conducting a simple decent talk and finally abandoning our meal as soon as we could and leave. it was a shame to overthrow a really first-class meal, but it made us a bit understandable to return for future meal. many thanks for a really good meal."

"Clifton Thai are really consistent and best enjoyed by sticking to authentic Thai dishes rather than the more westernised tempura dishes. The Butterfly King Prawn Tom Yum is just an incredible starter. The stock used in the soup is so packed with flavour, and the king prawns are incredibly succulent. Probably my only criticism is that there’s an odd number of prawns in a soup designed to be shared for two which makes it harder to split given they are “shell on”. The Green Thai curry and chicken cashew dishes were both also great, particularly the former which is packed with flavour and, if you ask for it hot, comes with a great spicy kick. Service is always prompt and polite and make it a very pleasant experience."
