"I was bought an Activity Superstore voucher for my birthday which gave me an Afternoon tea for two people. We spent the day in Chester prior to going to the hotel and wished we hadn 't bothered. Upon arrival the hotel didn 't look appealing and when we were greeted at reception we were made to feel that the booking had been forgotten about. We were asked to take a seat whilst the reception team member found someone to seat us. We were seated in what can only be called a green house with no ventilation air. We were offered tea or coffee and were told to take a seat. The curtains and table clothes were dirty, the furniture tatty and we felt like we needed a shower when we left. After around 10 minutes, the drinks arrived and we took it upon ourselves to move to a table in the shade. The air conditioning wasn 't working and it was 30 degrees outside. To be fair, the air conditioning looked like it hadn 't been serviced or used in quite some time (my husband works in the HVAC industry) Our food arrived and my heart sank. We weren 't asked or told what the sandwiches included or what the cakes were. The sandwiches were dry, tasteless and half of the crusts remained. We only ate a couple and left the rest. The cakes were okay although what we think might have been a profiterole looking more like a sausage!! The scones were crunchy and we were offered no butter as an option. At no point did anyone ask if we would like another drink (hot or cold) or whether the food was okay. We were in the hotel around 30 minutes before we left very disappointed. Certainly not a place I would recommend or return to."

"service I have ever met in a restaurant. I and friends arrived and no personal greeted us, we had to approach them and it felt like we were interrupting their conversation. we came to another customer who complained that they wait for 30 minutes to eat so that no worse began. we were brought to our table and had menus for the afternoon, but they let us sit there and waited for half an hour. no water on the table. They finally took over our job after I showed up about three times at the personal. the afternoon was nice, eating was the only good at the restaurant. the cocktails with the afternoon tea were too strong with a taste of pure alcohol, no other flavors. the attentiveness of the personal was a struggle, they all spoke also Italian with each other, each individual who is out of my own and rude. a man who looked like a manager brought our rugged tablet out of whisper and promised to come back with small cutlery. he never came back. I asked a waitress for a refill of water, the aforementioned little cutlery for desserts and if we could order our tee. an hour in the afternoon... we were not asked what we want. the tee came, but the waitress never brought water or small cutlery. then she disappeared and the other waiter cried out the eye contact. it was a fight to get attention to a bill. I finally did it and then we were waiting for about 10 minutes, while the waiter folded serviettes that must have been so much more important. we got up and paid at the cash. I was sick to pay this 12.5% service fee, it wasn't until after that my friend said it was optional. it has accused me of giving a service fee for virtually no service. I wasn't even here again, not even in the hotel! it was a very quiet time of the day and we were still ignored. very disappointing experience, as I have booked before weeks and could have gone to a more serious place for tee, but decided to give the lampery a great mistake."

"We didn't pre book so it was nice to get a table on a Friday evening. We were induled a table for four so we could sit side by side to enjoy the bay view. The food: I had ribeye medium rare. Listen, it was absolutely delicious! I am so fussy with beef and how it is cooked so its always nice when a chef gets it to MY taste which is usually pink but with no blood! Most either under cook or over cook my beef! The vegetables where just well done. Not to soft not too hard just a little bit more than Aldenté. But it was still good. The sauce was nice and the chips was the usual chips. My partner had Dover Sole and he felt it was over cooked and rubbery- not soft and fluffy. This is why we knocked off 1 star. I had a taste and I would say it was a little bit over cooked but tasted really good. I think this is probably more of a personal preference thing. We tend to show our fish just enough heat to cook but we still like it fluffy. I would still recommend the fish and be happy to eat it. So don't be put off. We are just super fussy! The staff are adorable and friendly. The place is clean and well decorated. The price of the food is reasonable. My stake cost under £30 which is about normal for most restaurants. The wine we had was very nice! If you like my reviews follow me to see more and you can see me on my entertainment channel on you tube The Naked Truth at Annetteworldviews."
