"Sadly having to give 1 out of 5 due to the terrible experience with delivery. Food was delivered an hour and a half late. Was basically lied to when enquired by phone, ranging from its out for delivery, it’s left and should be there in 5 minutes, it hasn’t left yet as it’s on the hot plate, it’s leaving in 15 minutes, to the driver was delivering it and had a car accident and had to go to hospital. I sincerely hope the latter was not a lie, it’s a terrible one if it was, but I hope the driver was ok if genuine. Asked for a refund and to cancel the order and told could not get one as no one there to refund me. Food finally arrived. The food was actually really nice, but we were eating it so close to going to bed for the evening due to it’s late arrival, so even though the food was nice we didn’t really enjoy it. Suggest just honest with customers, if there’s a delay, explain why, we will understand. Will not use again based on this experience."

"We booked a table for 4 for 7.30pm, arrived 7.25 and it took 20 mins. to get severed for drinks. It got worse! We were finally shown to the table of a 20% full restaurant and 25mins later finally had the head waiter ask if he could take our order...with an attitude as if he was doing us a favour... We were so put off by the dirty, 'sticky ' tables and v slow service we told the waiter we were leaving, paid for our drinks and left. Never again will we go back!"

"Found this restaurant by chance. My friend and I were looking for somewhere to have a pre concert dinner before going to the NEC. We were met by Shahir who quite simply epitomises what customer care and attention excellence should be. Nothing was too much trouble. This review is short and concise for a reason. The venue was clean, contemporary warm and welcoming. The order was made. 10 minutes later the food arrived. It was well presented and hot (as in temperature I mention this because I really do not like my food luke warm or cold, as do most people I should think). I have been to many restaurants home and abroad, most of which have been good to excellent. The food at The Delhi can only be described as a tingling treat for the tongue. 10/10 for the chefs. I am a carnivore and my partner is vegan, and they catered for both effortlessly. I will finish by thanking you and wish you the best. Keep to this standard and you will remain successful."

"bookable for 3, which a child, turned to find over 20 people outside waiting for entry. from others waiting in wait, a mistake was found in the booking system so that all table bookings were accepted, but they did not honor any of them. it had come first, served first. over 20 minutes asked, and the feedback from customers who go, it was 2 hours to eat dinner dinner, since service was slow. even if we have made it inside, that a handwritten statement on the wall said that the card machine was broken, so that only cash would be accepted. was there with a child and had booked before the concert later in the evening. decided after 45 minutes waiting time that we had to go to another place to make sure we had a dinner before the concert. at no time has anyone from the restaurant talked to the people in the waiting queue while we were there. a great experience. will not be able to reserve table again if this is how they treat people."

"This place never ceases to amaze me. A very small but intimate restaurant with a great atmosphere, very friendly helpful staff probably the best Indian food I've ever had. Four of us phoned to see if they could accommodate us almost immediately. Luckily, it being midweek it wasn't a problem. The staff really looked after us. Only too pleased to advise about the menu will also let you order a certain dish with a hotter sauce or modify dishes as you request. I can certainly recommend the Desi Lamb...Amazing! The Onion Bargis are superb (order 1 between two ....they are big) Tikka Massala superb. They don't serve alcohol but there is no problem at all taking your own beer wine in. We will return."

"We had an early reservation so we were the only ones in the restaurant. Service was good as we were the only ones there,the starter came which we thought was brilliant. After the starter we were expecting a main as good as the starter....how wrong we were! We had a tikka masala and a Korean which they both tasted exactly the same....revolting! It is the worst curry we have ever had tasting tangy,a little bit like raisins,bordering on being off! Never again! I have given 2 stars because the combo starter was lovely."

"Ordered a delivery from just eat on the October, my meal was missing a main and a side, I phoned to let them know they forgot my items and if they could deliver them, to then be told the items were delivered and that I was lying, I was told I would not get a refund and that they did not have the time to deal with my issue. The food that did turn up was mins late and cold, avoid at all costs!"

"Absolutely fantastic! We came for the curry evening which is held every Tuesday. £12 for a curry, rice or naan and drink (soft drink, wine or beer). It’s amazingly good value for money and we really enjoyed the food. Particular highlights were the lamb saag, lamb vindaloo, chicken bhuna and chicken korma. The soft buttered naans were amazing too and seemed like they had come straight out of a tandoor. Just fantastic! "Went here on a group curry night and had such a great evening. I had booked online and got a courtesy call 2 days before to check all is good. When we arrived there was friendly staff who greeted us and showed us to our table where our drinks order was taken and was informed of 2 for 1 on cocktails till 19:30 which we took advantage of. The venue looks very authentic and you can see the chefs preparing the food. The food came out in good time despite it being very busy on our visit and came in good portion sizes. The food was so tasty and flavoursome and had the right amount of spice and not overdone on the chilli's. I would recommend booking for a Saturday night as was near capacity, but staff cope effortlessly and food was coming out in good time............I would definitely return here again."

"This restaurant is truly underrated. The staff is outstanding and very friendly. The constant flow of young adults coming in and out hints at the delicious food being served. Despite the lack of customers dining in, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal each time I visited and always ended up with a large takeout container to bring home. Some of the curry dishes even taste better the next morning for breakfast. It's a bring your own (alcohol) and bring your own (cash) establishment, as they do not have a card machine. While there may be some questionable practices with their books, the food coming out of the kitchen is nothing short of delicious."

"My partner and I usually collect food from here, but last night we had our first delivery and the food was beautiful, as always! Every meal is tasty with big portions full of meat! They forgot our free bottle of pop last night so a bit gutted about that but the friendly service in the shop, and friendly delivery driver made up for that! Our favourite Indian in Cardiff!
