"The last time visited this pub was getting on 30 years ago. I took a friend for her early birthday meal. My kind of menu, simple yet excellent quality food. Sausage and mash for me and pork chop for my friend, followed by Malva pudding (sticky toffee) and vanilla parfait and lime meringue for me. Lovely atmosphere and attentive staff, well done all round. Back in November for my birthday."

"Wow, what a place. I've been in a hell of a lot of coffee/cafes in my time but this place to me takes top of the league. The staff are absolutely fantastic always taking your orders with a happy smile and a welcome greeting. The food and drinks we had were fantastic, good homely cooking. The toilet was well cared for very clean. We have used this place a few times now as we stopped off in our boat in the marina opposite the Deli. The Deli has wonderful views across Poole harbour to Brownsea island. Would we come back to the Deli? Most definitely looking forward to our next visit next year."

"I booked this for afternoon tea with friends to finish off a shopping weekend in Manchester. Following reviews on open table I thought this would be a nice way to finish our weekend. How wrong was I. When the food eventually arrived, from a distance it looked OK. Up close, not so good. The sandwiches were so dry, I thought they were toasted. I complained to the waitress who apologised and said she would speak to the chef. About 20 minutes later a tray of fresh sandwiches were brought to us which were actually ok. The scones were still frozen in the middle and the rest just wasn't very nice. The Manager did apologise and gave us a free glass of prosseco which did go down very well. It really wasn't an enjoyable experience and I would certainly not recommend this hotel as avoid place to eat."

"The Square is such a wonderful restaurant! We have been staying at the Intercontinental for a couple of weeks now and we make sure to never miss the amazing breakfast buffet there. There is so much variety from sweet to savoury, Indian, Asian, and Middle Eastern cuisines. And many options for kids as well! The food is always fresh and delicious and what makes the dining experience even better is the amazing staff working there. Everyone is so kind, friendly and helpful. I highly recommend The Square to everyone!"

"Food is very good and we really enjoyed what we ate. The service however was pretty poor. We stood waiting to be seated for over 5 minutes. This was whilst staff stood talking behind the bar. When we were eventually seated we waited another 10 minutes before anyone brought us menus or asked us if we wanted a drink. One staff member explained they were short staffed but I watched them talking at length behind the bar. Our drinks were left on the bar for ages, to the point I was about to go and collect them myself. Being busy is absolutely ok, being disorganised isn’t for me. I wouldn’t rush back."

"Well I have to say I did have it out with the manager and told him how bad it was and said I woudgo on social media bit I spent bear on100 pound for a **** experience so here's how it was so you don't get stung after reading some of the other reviews I think its right to let people know before wasting there time and money ,got there with the wife on a nice December evening and ordered a glass of red wine each ,we were served bye a young lad who gave is our drinks who was very polite and welcoming he said he had only been there a couple of months but went out of his way to make us feel welcome, nice wine awell, then the manager came over and said you can't order food at the bar until you have a table number ,ok I said can we have another wine to take to table which the young lad said I'll bring them over ,I said don't worry there's no hurry I'll wait ,the manager hurried us to a table next to a big table of eight people noisy drunk lot enjoying themselves which is fine but we are an older couple out for a quiet meal and there was only 3 full tables the place was empty lol ,stick us with the noisy lot ,anyway starters comes out missing one dish off scallops, they arrived after we said 10 minutes later ,there were 3 small scallops prise 14 quid lol ,shoudof bothered ,garlic mushrooms were not garlic mushrooms as no garlic I could taste ,my wife's salad had old flowery tasting tomatoes not fresh ,and my Mexican chicken in a mushroom sauce and rice tasted so bland and chicken over cooked was eatable but no way it was Mexican it tasted like a tesco microwave meal to be fair I eat half of it as I only had abit of toast that day and was hungry,I told the manager I was very disappointed with it all he said thanks for tge feedback, I said you should up your game here it's a nice place ,to be fair the young lad behind the bar could manage that place with good results as he knew how to treat people, but I'm sorry I won't be back as too pricey for an absolute disappointment which is a shame as such a good looking place to go ."

"Nice enough place, good atmosphere etc. However, I’m pretty sure I got overcharged by about £5 but I couldn’t check as I wasn’t given a receipt. Other criticisms include; No Christmas music being played despite being Christmas Eve. Had the roast dinner which was a big plate that was half empty. Also, got a tiny amount of gravy so it was quite dry. In summary, always give a receipt, put more food on the plate and more gravy. Price per person: £20–30 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes: Nice Burger Parking space: Plenty of parking Parking options: Free parking lot"

"We dined with friends and enjoyed a fabulous three-course lunch! For the starter, I had the tomato basil soup, followed by the pork and stuffing pie with chips, which were some of the best I've ever tasted. My partner started with pork belly bites and had chili with rice for the main course—both were perfectly portioned. We finished off with a delightful dessert of sticky toffee pudding served with a decadent sauce and a chocolate mousse topped with cherries, making for a perfect conclusion to a wonderful meal. I would definitely return! The seating was extremely comfortable, and we were lucky enough to sit by the log burner since it was quite cold outside. If you haven't been yet, I highly recommend it. The service was great, and the staff were very kind!"

"Avery attractive place in a delightful setting. Said to be Northumberlands only thatched roof pub, although it is more restaurant than pub. I went with a friend for Sunday lunch having pre booked and was given a table on arrival. The short menu looked good so I had a parsnip soup starter and my friend had the seafood cocktail. My soup came piping hot with hot rolls and butter while my friends seafood was almost a meal in itself. We both opted for the sirloin of beef for our main a good choice ! Three thick slices of very tender beef with mashed and roast potato, parsnip, peas, carrots, broccoli, red cabbage and cauliflower cheese plus an extra jug of gravy. The food was absolutely superb and, having eventually finished it, I had no room left for a desert (although the sweet menu was tempting). At £45 for two people I thought it was extremely good value and I would certainly go back to this place again. Having read previous reviews I must say that we had no complaints about the service, we were well looked after and a pretty young waitress stopped by our table several times to ensure that everything was to our liking. The Black Bull gets five stars from me !"

"Worst Sunday lunch I have ever had. Don't know why people are saying its nice, I can assure you it wasn't and not to waste your money. The experience wasn't great either moody waitress and rude. The Waitresses where shouting at each other across the restaurant it was obvious they where arguing. Run by clowns. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1"

"The only member of staff who seemed hard at work was the lady in the kitchen with short graying hair and a bandage round her wrist. In my opinion she is an absolute asset to this cafe and without her it wouldn’t seem to run!...The only staff member clearing plates making food etc, run off her feet and not appreciated. The man at the front stood on his phone next to the coffee machine and the other two ladies on shift floated about. The food can’t be faulted, the service can as not once did anyone come back to see if the food was ok or not. If the manager reads this review, your staff are letting your business down. Coffee was also dismally cold."

"We visited today because the carvery the advertised looked delicious unfortunately it wasn't. The beef was excellent the roast potatoes were hard, like bullets, I have no words to describe the Yorkshire pudding, the gravy was stone cold and didn't taste very nice. The pub/ restaurant was quiet busy, it was no noisy pretty much like a kindergarten! screaming kids)We have no issues with noise or people enjoying themselves obviously it's a pub) you had to shout to hear each other. The most disgusting thing was the two families on the long table on the left as you enter the dining area, with children had a small dog with them the dog was sitting on the long seat the people fed the dog putting the food directly on the seat, the dog ate the food licking the seat clean when it finished, it made us feel sick! No fault of the pub but somebody unaware of this may have nice clean smart clothes on will sit on a dirty unhygienic seat. No issues with pets being in pubs as long as they're under control having them on the furniture is a no no especially when they eat off on the seat. As well a hygiene issue some people have allergies unknowing what has happened before. Unfortunately we wouldn't recommend the globe nor return, considering the money we paid it was ott. There are many pubs in the area where the Sunday lunches that are better quality and competitively priced. We had intended staying in the pub to watch the football but due to the noise we were uncomfortable our friends who were going to join us for the game decided not too we went home."

"No disabled access from garage area. STAIRS! Ambience of Kind's Bar was lovely. Not noisy, comfortable heat and nice seating. Staff were unobtrusive, but helpful. The afternoon tea stand was prepared fresh, unfortunately the scones were a little on the dry side and just cream and jam, no butter. We got a special extra. It was my friends birthday and they gave us an extra portion of cake. The cherry macarons were lush, however, the pistachio ones were not so flavourful. Some unusual flavour paring, and colouring, but overall tasty and filling tea. We also had two pots of tea during the afternoon. Nothing was too much trouble for the cheerful and attentive staff. I'm going back. Great value and felt special."

"We visited the cafe, as we often do when in Stranraer, and were very disappointed. The staff were chatting behind the counter and it took a while to be served. We both ordered tea - I got an empire biscuit and my partner got a scone. Unfortunately, my tea cup had lipstick on it, and when I brought it to their attention, the girl behind the counter grabbed it from my hand and gave me another cup without apologizing. The empire biscuit was okay, but my partner found his scone to be dry. We have visited this cafe before and had always enjoyed the scones, but this time was a letdown. Overall, we were extremely disappointed."

"My husband and I enjoyed a very nice meal at The Old Star to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The evening started out really well, and he enjoyed the pork belly bites starter off the specials board, which he says was very nice. As we were waiting for our mains to come out a very rowdy group of men were sat at the table next to us, and my husband, who is autistic, struggled with them. I spoke to a member of staff, and she very kindly helped to move us to a quieter table in the bar area. We were able to continue enjoying the rest of our evening, and the food was delicious. We had the fish pie and ribeye steak, and for pudding we had the crunchie cheesecake."

"So glad we stopped here! We’ve walked passed so many times along the harbour and always thought it looked like a nice little spot, and boy we were right! It’s not very often you find places that know exactly what they want to achieve, exactly who they are, and the sea room delivers on this with the vibe, food, and everything inbetween! The ambience is perfect, giving the impression of an old seaside pub, but in a modern shell. The food matches this and is honestly gorgeous. The muscles had the best sauce to date, even to the point I had to drink it lol, and the sea bream special was everything you could ever want it to be, crispy skin, flakey flavoursome fish, delicious! Some things on the menu are a little pricey (buratta and broccoli) despite being very tasty, but somethings were well worth the money, almost underpriced! The drinks were equally as lush, with the service being just the right amount of attentive. Please don’t overlook this place like we did for so long, just stop by! Make it a night too, because the deserts were very very tasty"

"Poor value for money and rude service. I Have been here a few times for coffee which is good but sampled the food this time. I was hungry so chose an omelette. When it arrived, I was shocked at how small it was: about 20cm max across, less than a third of a dinner plate coverage. Not the nice sized folded over half plate that I was expecting. The bare plate was made up with a dollop of coleslaw and a bit of salad. I thought best to comment and the proprietor was very defensive and said it was a standard 2 egg omelette. Since when have omelettes been limited to 2 eggs? He then barked that he 'd never had a complaint about his omelettes in 5 years! I was hoping for some kind of ' I 'm sorry sir, is there anything i can do? I considered not paying for it and said that ' I 'd leave as an unsatisfactory customer. He didn 't seem that bothered. Either that or had poor interpersonal skills. Its a shame that service providers can 't take criticism and act to facilitate a happy outcome. I ate it in 2 mins, left dissatisfied and still hungry, left the cash on the counter and went. I chose not to engage in further dialogue as it seemed pointless and he seemed agitated rather than apologetic."

"We thought we had finally discovered a good, authentic Italian restaurant on the Fylde coast. However, we were disappointed. The atmosphere on a Thursday evening was loud, making it necessary to shout to have a conversation. The Italian minestrone soup we ordered did not meet our expectations. The risotto was overcooked, resembling rice pudding in texture. The carbonara was bland. This was our first and last time dining at this establishment. Service: Dine in."

"Overall: **. We made a reservation online for a restaurant located half a mile away, only to arrive and find it closed. The staff were unaware of our booking through the app. I later received an email informing us that they had checked us in. I can only give them one star, as there is no option for a negative rating. I would not recommend using this website or visiting this restaurant unless you are prepared to travel far from home to eat."
